  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 04:04 PM) Will probably be Saladino and Gonzalez. this
  2. Colby Rasmus stepping away from baseball for the rest of the season. Melky Cabrera, come on down!
  3. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) I'd consider moving him, but he needs another year (at least) to build up his value. Maybe next year's deadline, if all goes well. We control him for another 4 years after this one. Agreed. Maybe even that off-season (2018-2019).
  4. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) Gut reaction is an asset like Q should never be traded to the Cubs, especially without them paying WELL over market value. Not sure how I feel about the return yet, want to do a deeper dig on the prospects before coming to a conclusion there. Why do they need to pay well over if it's already the best offer?
  5. I think Robertson gets traded in next couple weeks (not necessarily a bold prediction and not necessarily to Nats), Kahnle stays as closer, gets marketed and traded as a cheap, controllable closer in off-season, Jones takes over as closer in 18 assuming his arm doesn't fall off.
  6. 2020 seems completely optimistic. Some of these guys will only be 22 at that point maybe making their MLB debuts. I'm thinking closer to 2022.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 10:16 AM) Jose Quintana will NOT be a member of the White within 72 hours. Dave wouldn't double-down on the smoke here unless he had something of substance. He posts the eyes kind of often though. Any tweet over the past few months regarding Q. Of course, now there seems to be even more smoke.
  8. The one week where I am unusually busy at work!
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) I can't believe anyone bought into it either. A oft injured A ball pitcher who is on the brink of a promotion and on an innings count, gets pulled from a start with stormy weather, add that to a top prospect who has been inactive, not being in the line up, add that to a supposed Ken Rosenthal tweet, yanked so fast no one has a screen shot, about a possible unusual trade. Ignore Rosenthal's facebook page post about a crazy potential trade between Miami and Philadelphia , clearly it's Quintana to the Cubs. I think he just meant in general since Tuesday.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Yeah I loved when we had that setup with Kotsay That was also more of a platoon since Kotsay only played against righties (with Andruw Jones against lefties). They played Kotsay at 1B a lot with Paulie at DH and DH'd Quentin with Jones in RF often. Honestly, it wasn't bad (considering the season our next DH had the following year...). Edit: just checked their numbers that year. Jones was a very good platoon bat but Kotsay was underwhelming and him more towards the bottom third anyway.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) Thing is, nice DHs aren't very hard to find, and they aren't that expensive. That is a roster spot you if fill via FA when you're ready, not waste a precious asset like Q on. I'd be fine with Schwarber as a part of a Q deal, but only in a something that also includes Eloy. Which I doubt is going to happen. I agree. Or you use it as a rotating spot. Like you have 9 guys capable of playing at least close to average defense (say like 4 potential every day OF) but each day one gets to rest their legs and DH.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 07:57 AM) On the red line radio podcast, WSD said Sox talking to Brewers, Braves and Cubs but also are deep in talks with Houston Excellent.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 07:15 AM) Jimenez, Russell, Candelario for Q, Kahnle, Swarzak, Shields (or Holland, or MiGo) AND Leury or Yolmer... Best I can come up with. Five for three. Megadeal that would shake NL Central to the core. Push the Brewers or Cards to match...? That deal would definitely push Anderson to CF which I think may end up happening after a full year or two as SS, depending on his progress defensively.
  14. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 06:55 AM) I hope he doesn't rule it out. I understand there is a rivalry between sox and cubs fans and ut would hurt uf quintana is in a WS Parade but the cubs are not really a rival of the Sox (different league and division) and I could not care less if the cubs win 5 more championships if it means the sox win one. Agreed that I'm not saying they should deal with the cubs but they should at least listen to offers and if the cubs make the best offer they should take it. Cubs really need a starter and I think they would be interested in quintana. If the Cubs make the best offer, he should.
  15. QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:07 AM) Q is more far more valuable than any of the top prospects talked about in the last 10 pages. Come crucify me if you want, but if the Sox don't get a top 15 prospect and more for Q than Hahn blew it. Define "more"
  16. QUOTE (turnin' two @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 06:10 PM) 2 more: Stephen Strasburg Not that it can't be done per se, but he's still getting paid great. Sox would never pay that for a pitcher.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxwinner @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 06:04 PM) It's way too early to tell if he won't be extended. For now he's very young and very controllable and hasn't even scratched his potential. He fits right into the rebuild, and I highly doubt he gets moved. So cute. So full of hope. 2 words: Scott Boras.
  18. Cease is pitching tomorrow apparently and Cubs are actually considering calling him up.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Sox would make every one of those trades. I was going to say, I think they would accept all of them.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) It's hard to believe this rebuild started with such a bang, and 7 months later we are still awaiting the next trade. Kinda figured it would be that way. Could say the same had they traded Q in December.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) 19 days from now. 19 long days. Good bye productivity.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxwinner @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) Cubs number 2 prospect number 63 in MLB top 100. Doubt it has anything to do with the sox. Probably just hurt again.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) Should be noted today is an off day of sorts for media. For beat writers, They're either traveling or have two consecutive days for the last time until October (other than vacation). Pretty much the worst 2 days of the year for major league sports fans.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) I used to go to at least 65 games a year so it really was spread out. The last couple of years I have had weekends, and it seems since they got Shields, he's been pitching a lot on weekends. When the both are healthy Shields and/or Gonzo has almost been a lock. And it would be OK, but at least 3 or 4 times the game was over in the 1st or 2nd inning. Makes for an uninteresting game. Last time I saw Shields the game was over in the first. My brother lives in Switzerland and was in town and wanted to go to a game. He told me Thursday or Friday. Shields was pitching Thursday. Thank God he decided Friday. And it was a nice game. 3 in the 9th to beat Texas. Also at that game. Great time.
