I get it for this team. Look at that horses*** lineup. But in general, I hate bunts.

Figured these guys could use a thread for any news and rumors (whether trade or dfa lol). I was hopeful we could spin one or two of them off for something useful (lotto tickets) but have been having doubts lately.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) Tim Anderson just turned 24 years old. He's as much apart of this rebuild as anyone currently in the minor leagues. Controllable for next what, 7 years? You gotta stick with him at SS through the rest of this year and likely all of 18 and see if there is any improvement there.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash

QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox were able to move him for something, even salary relief over the next few weeks. Yeah, probably. Even a Low-A baller or something. -
Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) Fangraphs & Baseball America both had him in the teens. Honestly, he's probably a Clarkin level prospect at best. Overall the returns for relievers haven't been that great so far this deadline IMO. Seems like there's a lot available. -

Are Phelps and Kahnle comparable? I know Phelps also has some control and also has more of a track record I guess. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) Per Heyman, Brayan Hernandez is the top guy going for Phelps. Along with 3 others. -
What about Tampa Bay? Rasmus was rotating between the OF and DH before he decided to leave the team. Eat remainder of his salary and see what you can get.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) UA takes over MLB merchandise in 2019. You should have waited. I do applaud you for getting the real one, though, however. It beats those $30 counterfeit kind. If you look on the right sites, you can find a legit one. I got a Paulie authentic cool base jersey from a site my friend used to order jerseys from for like $40. Had skeptical friends even check it out and admit that it is amazing.

QUOTE (Username @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 08:50 AM) Supposedly they've been looking at David Phelps but it's unclear whether he's the guy they're about to snag. Yeah I saw that once I got to work today. For some reason, MLBtr hasn't been updating on my phone correctly. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 08:46 AM) Are you sure about this? They have at least $65M in salary coming off the books next year between A-Rod, Sabathia, & Holiday. Even with Robertson's $13M salary, it seems like they should have plenty of space below the luxury tax. And this assumes that Tanaka doesn't opt-out either. I was gonna say too, if they were "forced" to go under, wouldn't they want the Sox pay some salary and maybe give up a better third piece or an additional prospect? The fact this didn't happen makes it seem like they aren't desperate.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) The Yanks are going to be "forced" to shed salary to get under luxury tax threshold so I doubt this was an unlikely scenario. Eh they're over this season but are done paying A-Rod, Holliday, Sabathia, and, though not too significant, Pineda after this season. Headley and Gardner after next. That's a lot of salary being shed.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 06:42 AM) Hahn said they offered to eat money with other teams, but this was the best deal from a value standpoint. Unfortunatly, they can't force the Yankees to give up a better prospect return in exchange for money. ^this. People on here say we should have eaten money to get a better return but you just can't force a team to do that. They figured this was the best offer while allowing them to eat almost no money (just Clippard's couple million and even he has value to us to throw some innings since we need guys in the pen).

QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) What are the most likely landing spots for Swarzak now? Nats, Dbacks, Red Sox, Dodgers. Honestly any contender that can use an arm. -
QUOTE (JLarucci23 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Hes gonna play 2 right? move Saladino or Yolmer to third? Maybe Davidson at 3B as well.
-
QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 11:34 AM) I think everybody agrees, it comes down to what you can get for him. If we can land a top 100 player that sounds good to me. But I don't think anybody wants 3 eh prospects for him. Yeah at that point you are better off waiting to see if he can sustain it for another year and build a track record.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) He's TWENTY f***ING SIX years old! In 2019 he'll be 28...FFS. And? Doesn't matter what his age is if he only has 2 years of control left. Thought that would be simple to understand but I guess not.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 07:56 AM) Yeah, the Cards you might get Kelly and the Rockies maybe Pint? I dunno...I think we're getting a bit drunk on prospects. The thought of moving Avi for a guy that we are hoping can do what Avi is doing right now seems a bit counterproductive to me... Well the idea would be getting someone who could be productive at the same time when our other top guys are potentially being productive. Avi Garcia doing good for 2 years when most of the other hitters aren't ready doesn't do anything for the MLB team.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 08:22 AM) I'm sure Hahn shopped hard and felt this was going to be the best overall return. We all have skewed views from the insane returns that Chapman and Miller received last season. Lets not kid ourselves and pretend we really care all that much about dealing Robertson or Kahnle. Kahnle broke out and helped us land a top 50 prospect in Rutherford, we should all be happy. Cashman is a smart GM, he's not going to let us completely fleece him. You can say that again.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:52 PM) No, I do understand. Look at the Cubs World Series roster and tell me about all the good players they got due to their (not even all that high) draft position. It won't take long because it's pretty much just 1 guy. Their rebuild was successful largely due to the trades, not their draft position. I hope the White Sox pursue it the same way because the draft position ain't worth that much when you know it's going to be a good one either way. Bryant, Schwarber, Baez, Almora to name a few
