QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) Yes, but if you are drafting BPA, and I have no idea why you wouldn't with a top 3 pick, most of that pool is eaten up giving the draftees anywhere near their slot, which I think most expect. True but still.

Should Giolito pitch in Chicago this year?
Bob Sacamano replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
Trade Gonzalez for whatever in next couple days, call up Lopez to replace him. Try to trade Holland or Pelfrey and if that fails, stick one in the pen or go with 6-man rotation in September (or sooner) when rosters expand and call up Giolito. I know he wasn't in the question, but I wouldn't even bother with Fulmer this year. -
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) Because if we only get the number two pick, we won't Obsess about it at all. Haha it doesn't really matter as long as we draft top 3. It's all about the bonus pool allocation though. It starts to drop off pretty steadily.

Will Eloy Jimenez get to AA this year?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) Not if it is in September, I believe That doesn't really matter. If they called him up in September and he opened the following season on the MLB team, we would still have him for 6 years. It would still count towards his service time. They could send him down to the minors to open the year, but in order to gain the extra season of control, it would take longer (example: Moncada). -
Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) I actually think Cordell might be better than Gomez. Gomez has hit for average, but projects to have "30" grade power. He profiles as a solid batting average utility player with average defense. I'd rather have Cordell who actually has the toolset to become a starter with his defense and pop. And Cordell is MLB ready. It's hard to hate a trade of a reliever having a career year with 2 months of control left for a guy you can almost (almost because of injury) plug into your lineup. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) Bringing him up sometime would start his clock would it not? IF we are not planning to compete til 2020 what is the point of bringing him up sometime next year? Yeah I'd rather hold off. Especially since he's so young still. -

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) If he gets to Birmingham in a few weeks, he would definitely be on track for (at least) a cup of coffee in the bigs a year from now, and I would say it is the most likely outcome. It would actually be a disappointment if he didn't, because it would mean something went wrong or he got hurt. I don't really agree with any of this. -
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 08:31 AM) If we hypothetically tied, who would get the #1 overall pick? Phillies. It goes by the order from previous draft.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 07:52 AM) Yep, nothing wrong with having another Fox. Besides the name, I do like Fox as a SS prospect. When I read up on Fox, Dee Gordon came to mind. Not referring to you, but for those who don't know, Lucius Fox is Morgan Freeman's character from the Dark Knight trilogy.

On Buehrle day, for one of the first career homers hit that day, one of them landed in the same row my cousin was sitting in. The ushers came and got the guy with the ball and walked away, probably to make a trade for the ball.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 07:42 AM) Can we make sure Lucius Fox is part of the package coming back to the Sox? I love that name so yes.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 03:26 AM) Leaving for the Vegas bachelor party on Saturday! We rented a cabana for Monday, so we are mostly looking forward to that. Did the same when I was there for a bachelor party. Lot's of fun. Plenty of girls around to talk to.

If Cordell wasn't hurt, he could have gotten his shot.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) Went to Liberty University too, I believe, and he was very raw coming out of college. Doesn't surprise me in the least that they took it as slow with him as they did. Oh I didn't know that. Thanks. Still encouraging that he has hit along the way. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Chuck GarfienVerified account @ChuckGarfien 10m10 minutes ago Hahn says they're still talking deals. Nothing huge but says "something might materialize between now and the deadline." Melky and Gonzalez are two I would expect to be gone for sure. Wishing Shields as well. Edit: just checked Shields stats. Doing worse than I thought. -
Now imagine a lineup where Melky is traded in next 5 days and Abreu gets a day off while Avi is on the dl.
-
Who gets called up? Willy?
-
Wow, this lineup can get worse.

Bob Sacamano replied to username's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's actually kind of weird Cordell was brought along slowly. Looking at his stats, he has hit at every level that he's played. Probably more of a "what position is he going to play?" situation. If the Brewers didn't have so much OF depth this year, he probably would have gotten a shot sooner. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:04 PM) Relevant. Jerry CrasnickVerified account @jcrasnick 55m55 minutes ago The chances of #Orioles Zach Britton being traded are growing slimmer by the day. Market for Britton simply hasn't developed. Yeah it's not really a good market to deal him...since there are a bunch of other relievers out there. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 03:57 PM) I'm unconvinced Baltimore is selling...Angelos is nuts. l did forget about Phelps - good catch. Updated list because I forgot Tigers anyway. Also, Brach and Britton being only under control through next season is why I put them on. And there's been rumors. -

Relievers moved so far: Robertson Kahnle Swarzak Mauer Madson Doolittle Phelps Relievers likely available: Hand J. Wilson McGowan A. Wilson Stammen Brach Britton Ramos Neshek Benoit Storen Strickland (his name has popped up in rumors) And then add in any reliever on a team in contention and around .500 (Pirates, Cardinals, Angels, etc.) that could decide to sell a few rental BP pieces in the next 5 days. Plus any team selling back-end rotation guys who may end up in a team's bullpen.
