  1. Indians pushing hard for Zach Britton.
  2. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) He's on the 60 day DL. He's not taking up a spot on the 40 man. That's true but if they keep him in the off-season, he's back on the 40-man.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) That's assuming none out of 30 teams would offer him anything better. For a guy that's going to miss all of 2018, I don't think anyone would.
  4. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) If we trade Holland, MiGo and Pelf, who's going to pitch rest of the season? Call up Lopez? Volstad? Should we start stretching Leury's arm now so he could pitch more than 1 inning? I am not sure if these guys are worth trading, will probably go for guys we will never heard of again, e.g. Blackmar and Chalas. Rodon and Shields for sure, Lopez gets the call-up, maybe Danish or Volstad, Holmberg and Beck can move to the rotation. Fulmer shouldn't be called up. Maybe Giolito. They have enough guys as options to cover the final 2 spots (or 3 if they want to do a 6-man rotation).
  5. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 09:01 AM) Putnam aint getting released with 2 years of control left Can't they release him and sign him to a minor league deal to take him off the 40-man?
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) The bottom line is unless they decide to trade Abreu or maybe Avi, the prospects coming back won't be very interesting. Gonzalez is a 5th starter really on a good team, if that. If Holland had signed with a contender and not the White Sox, he would have been released by now. Pelfrey will get you nothing. He was already available for free to all the teams. After a slow start, Hahn has gotten rid of just about everything he wanted to get rid of that would net them at least something that had a chance. You gotta count on your scouts to find those low-A gems that could potentially be available. Guys with flaws you think can be fixed. I don't think anyone is expecting big returns for any of the remaining guys. Just something. Something is better than nothing at all for a guy you're losing in 2 months.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 07:52 AM) Last day of non waiver deals, do you think any of these guys go? Hopefully all 3.
  8. Splits Below: VS Righthanders: .293/.373/.567 VS Lefthanders: .218/.277/.356
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 10:29 PM) 17 hours to go. One more, Rick. Miguel Gonzalez. I'm hoping Gonzo to a team needing a 5th starter uograde and Holland to a team looking to add a loogy.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 11:57 AM) Things you wouldn't have guessed 10 years ago - the twins sending money to the Yankees. Someone on mlbtr comments said with revenue sharing, it's almost like Yankees paying for him hah
  11. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 09:44 AM) Is it in bad taste to flip a player you recently traded for? Like would Atlanta be hesitant to deal with the Twins again after this? No. They don't care. This isn't the first time this has ever happened.

  13. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 02:14 PM) Obviously still awhile away, but I wanted to drum up some discussion. We're most likely going to have a top 5 pick in both drafts. What does everyone hope the moves are? Are we looking for best player available? High school vs. College? What do we all want and think? BPA hopefully a college bat.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) This is fair. I know if I was still living in Chicago I'd go to a lot more games this year compared to the last few just to show my support for the direction but I'm obviously only one person. I've been to 7 so I've been to a steady amount. Have fallen into free tickets to most of them though. Granted, for the ones I did pay for, I went the $7 route. Edit: according to my sig, I've already been to the same amount of games as last season lol
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 11:40 AM) I liked to see it just cause of how so many people thought rebuilding was never realistic because attendance was going to completely tank. I definitely thought we'd see a decrease this year because of the casual fan just not caring at all but I've been pleasantly surprised. I would think it would be more the die-hard fans that would be deterred. The casual fans would still go just to go out with friends and drink some beers.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 11:04 AM) Forget it, he's rolling. There's no stopping him at this point.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) Chris Cotillo‏Verified account @ChrisCotillo 5m5 minutes ago Source confirms: Mariners trade Steve Cishek to Rays for Erasmo Ramirez. @Feinsand and @jonmorosi on it. Steve Cishek is also a guy didn't put on a list I had created a few days ago. Having a nice year as well.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 09:44 AM) With is arb status, it wouldn't shock me if Putnam is a non-tender for 2018. Not sure on who needs to be added still, but I get the feeling there will be plenty of room. Melky, Holland, Pelfrey and MiGo are all gone at some point, at a minimum. We could still find deals on others. Yeah Putnam could easily be dfa'd.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) I already was going, just saw a bunch of people talking abut it so thought I'd ask as there are so many different options. Gotcha. You going during the week or a weekend?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 09:21 AM) The Sox have a few guys who are FA's a the end of the season too, if they don't trade them first. How many guys do we have that need to be added to the 40-man by the cutoff date? Tilson is one for sure since he is currently off the 40-man. Putnam as well. We also have guys that can be dfa'd to make room like Alen Hanson and Jacob May for example.
  21. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 09:30 AM) And he was acquired for much less than a Chris Sale or a Jose Quintana, both on team friendly contracts. Worth noting that Rizzo was sold very low. Struggled when he came up to the MLB, Padres traded Latos for a package of prospects/young players which included his replacement, Yonder Alonso. Cubs made some major adjustments to his swing and boom, Rizzo is the guy he is today.
  22. I know it's not their fault at all, but it's not like the Sox did anything worthwhile when they had Eaton, Sale and Quintana on one team. Great pieces to have, but pointless if your owner/management weren't going to put the necessary pieces around them.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 09:34 PM) Haha so I'm going to Vegas next month, any hotel recommendations. Did you just decide that while reading this thread or did you already book a flight and realize you didn't have a hotel yet? haha
  24. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 07:55 AM) I get sick of the flagship Cubbies promotions that they have to do. Sometimes the interviews aren't good, so I switch to ESPN radio 1000 to see what Jurko and the guys talk about. Bernstein can get old after awhile even though he's insightful. I love when they interview Steve Stone and occasional Sox players. The Steve Stone ones are especially good listens.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 07:47 AM) This is probably a dumb question, but is the Rule V draft order also determined by the same standings? So if we finish with the worst record we get the #1 Rule V pick in December? That in and of itself could net us a nice prospect with some of the guys who are going to be left off 40 man rosters (looking at the Yankees specifically) Also, can you pick up multiple guys during the Rule V? I'm pretty certain it does determine that and a very good point I really didn't think about (in regards to teams like the Yankees). Also, yes you can pick multiple. Padres have like 3 on their team right now.
