  1. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) I think he'll decide in the next few days, although I know he could technically wait until the 22nd Yeah I'm just saying it's great we at least know it won't drag on long like Stanton possibly could. That can go on until the trade deadline.
  2. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) Jeff Passan @JeffPassan now Sources: Shohei Ohtani is done interviewing the seven finalists to sign him. His last meeting was actually Tuesday night with the San Diego Padres. Next, presumably, will be his decision. Timetable is not clear yet, but it could well be soon. At least we know it should be done by the 22nd.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Yeah, nothing sexy. I'm in marketing for a minor league team. Ah I know someone else who used to work on the marketing team for the Cornbelters, just an independent league team. He got to go to the GM meetings for work.
  4. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) I just read where 53 year old Rafael Palmeiro wants to make a comeback this upcoming 2018 season. Hahn will sign him for his MLB leadership abilities. Hahn likes having a team with ex Cubs on it. Thinking about it, it appears to be to potentially reset his HoF clock.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) CarGo is Gonzalez That's what I figured as that's what he goes by. But I have seen/heard people say CarGo in reference to Gomez, too. Thanks.
  6. QUOTE (zisk @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 01:01 PM) White Sox sign CarGo. 1 year 10 million with option. 2 million buyout. Gonzalez? Only asking because I've seen both Gomez and Gonzalez referred to as CarGo.
  7. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) Looks like the Rangers got him. https://twitter.com/SandlerJ/status/938456493028003841 Other tweets of his say no Ohtani. It's Mike Minor who's deal just became official.
  8. Rafael Palmerio attempting MLB comeback. Even though this will go nowhere....wow https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/rafa...b-comeback.html
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 10:02 AM) I'll be down there for the meetings -- anyone else going and want to meet up for a beer? You down there for work or something?
  10. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) I do not see the point one bit at extending him if it is going to cost that much.. Can someone give me a reason why extending a 33 year old 1st basement for 20 million makes sense? Just wait till his contract is up and extend him then if he is producing at 20 mil a year The deal would start now. Not when he is 33.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) Then tell me how to make sure it doesn't happen and I won't complain. A contract extension could be appropriate. As it stands right now, I'm looking at my "to be ready to compete in 2020" team having their #4 and #5 hitters potentially walk as free agents. If he won't sign a contract extension then that undermines the latter part, and I have to look at filling that position somehow. It's the right time to get something done, if he won't extend then he's worth more in a trade right now than he will be next offseason. I think his comment implies extension.
  12. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) I doubt the Sox trade Avi or Abreu before Stanton gets moved. I want that saga to just end. But there's also the possibility he holds out until the trade deadline.
  13. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 09:32 AM) I'd rather not lose the 2nd round pick. Same.
  14. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) It would be mildly funny if he’d have ever posted anything of real substance here. I wasn't paying attention to who posted it in all honesty haha
  15. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) HAHAHHAHAAHA HILARIOUS It gave me a chuckle this morning haha
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) We are also seeing it on the 15th, not sure how we got a theater to agree to it that close to the release date but it's awesome. I assume the price would just be buying out all the seats. I don't think they would care if that's the case.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 08:29 AM) If we're trading both in the same package, Rodgers should be coming back Yeah probably more likely only one would go to the Rockies then.
  18. What about an Abreu and Avi package to the Rockies? I'd assume they could get 4-5 prospects (not named Rodgers since Arenado and DJLM are free agents after next year) along with their 18 competitive balance pick. How about: Pint, Dahl or Tapia, McMahon, Senzatella, and Almonte (bring him back)?
  19. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 07:42 AM) It would be a wonderful move to sign him. But the fact is they're not going to spend any big money on any quality free agent. The objective for 2018 is to have the lowest payroll in MLB. Derek Jeter, is that you?
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 07:27 AM) With the Winter Meetings just days away (starting on the 10th), I thought we should do a predictions thread for our beloved White Sox. Please list the trades, signings, moves you think the Sox will make next week, including any Rule 5 selections. -One of Avi and Abreu gets moved. Don't really know the where for who. I may come back to this later. -Sox take Nestor Cortes in Rule 5 Draft. Very thin on lefties in the pen, will probably lose Guerrero. He's also started some games in the minors so he can be a spot starter when we try to give guys extra rest.
  21. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) I hope your right but I am doubtful. Next year is a big year for him. He was a career .260--ish hitter in the minors with limited power. Certainly he has a chance to get PA with the limited roster. He looks to me to be a utility player/4th outfielder who can play a few spots and will be a .250 hitter. But he is still 25 so maybe he has a solid spring and wins starting position. I would say he's already a lock for a spot next season.
  22. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) Jesse Sanchez @JesseSanchezMLB now Another former Braves prospect has agreed to a deal with a new team. Source: Shortstop Livan Soto has agreed to a $850K deal with the Angels. The Angels have also agreed to a $2.2M deal with Kevin Maitan. @MLBPipeline That's 3 so far.
  23. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) I'd do that in a heartbeat. You can patch together those innings you're losing and again, it's not like the Sox are playing for anything Yeah, you can just bring back Volstad haha
  24. Sucks a year of control for Reyes was already burned last year.
