  1. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) Encouraging to see the Sox taking a "bad" contract to improve the prospect haul. Props to JR for truly committing to a rebuild. It essentially like the Sox sending money in the deal. We take him on to offset the money.
  2. QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) Yankees have also been known to love Robertson and never wanted him to leave in the first place. Out of curiosity, who did they draft for that comp pick?
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:16 PM) Chavis batted again. Gonna guess he's not in the talks They can remove him if he is. It's not a big deal.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) I just don't see Avi as part of our next contender, and I don't think there's any way he's ever going to have a BETTER season, so I'm all for moving him for a decent offer, despite his youth. I agree. It would be different if he had at least 3-4 years of control left.
  5. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:19 AM) I think that you're right, and that Lowrie certainly could work for the BoSox. However, our Sox could provide something, which Oakland could not and that is the kind of salary relief, which "Beautox" suggested. That may explain what is taking so long for this to materialize. The financial aspects of such a deal would require some pretty complex considerations. That Sandoval would be coming over here? I kinda doubt it but think the Sox should be open to the idea if it means a better prospect haul.
  6. I think Jed Lowrie still makes a ton of sense for the Red Sox. Has a cheap option for next season and you gotta remember, Devers is only 20. They could make the case that they want to see him in AAA for a year. They can also trade Lowrie in the off-season/early next year if they want to see Devers for most of the season.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) Doesn't matter what happens with Giants-Padres. Sox finish the week with the 3rd pick position. 11 weeks left. Padres up 7-1. I like that.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:08 PM) Holt is being added There it is.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) Don't they have to cause DH? QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) No idea...just thought I'd add it on here If they have to make a roster move, they probably have to make room on the 40-man to add someone as the 26th man. People here speculated it could be Devers. Is he on 40?
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) Nightengale saying only "fringe" prospects coming back in potential Frazier deal, and that we'd eat cash too. Figured as much but damn those tweets last few days got me excited.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) Right but they've been balking at the Sox price for like 8 months now, while blowing like a game a week. Clearly they didn't want to give up serious prospects for a closer, and they just got two of the Proven Closer™ brand. I'd be absolutely shocked if they ponied up now. I don't see them "ponying up" per se. I doubt Robles, Fedde, and Soto are going anywhere. I think anyone else could be on table.
  12. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) What are you guys talking about? Both of those guys have tons of closing experience and are having good seasons. Because adding 3 good relievers would be better than adding just 2. Especially when you bought the first 2 so cheap.
  13. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) Fantastic trade for the Nats. Surprised Oakland couldn't do better. Thats why some of us on here wouldn't be shocked to see Schwarber as the center piece in a Gray deal lol
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) I actually think the opposite. If I just managed to get those two guys for that, I'd be on the phone with Hahn right now getting Robertson for one of my 3-5 prospects. I agree. I could see Kieboom plus a couple others being on the table.
  15. Have Madson through next year and Doolittle through 20. Good trade.
  16. Could see why they would do that deal. Now, do they still go out and add one more?
  17. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 12:09 PM) And Bumgarner is back today. That will help SF get a few more wins, if he stays off his motorcycles. Thats why I kinda want Padres to take at least 2/3 this weekend. Bumgarner back should help Giants win some games next 2 months.
  18. Yeah idk if you'll end up flipping him. Rather do a deal eith full intention of cutting him. As long as brings good prospects in.
  19. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 11:17 AM) Red Sox Closing in on Deal for Todd Frazier http://www.12up.com/posts/5269933-report-r...ier?a_aid=36534 Nice summary of everything said yesterday.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) You know Boston is only team that has/will express interest and you want to create an opening for Moncada People keep saying this but do they mean Sanchez moves to 3B? I think Delmonico or Hayes comes up first.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) It's pronounced "A-loy", according to Garfein Makes sense based on where he is from.
  22. Better to have this happen now than if he were in the MLB eating away service time
  23. Really wish they weren't committed to going for it at the time of the draft in 2016.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) Saladino and Gonzalez have been activated. Guess they don't care about an extra bullpen arm this weekend. Like it matters. Think they have a normal 7 guys with one being a long-reliever. Although with this current rotation, they could probably use 2 long-relievers haha Edit: we kinda do with Holmberg and Beck both being in the pen.
