  1. QUOTE (Username @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Miggy was re-assigned to Birmingham oddly enough earlier. Was trying to draw a connection based on rotation turns but couldn't figure it out. Maybe AAA was off a few days and AA wasn't? I really don't know. I'm just guessing here.
  2. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) Merkin: Fri--James Shields, Sat--Derek Holland, Sun--Jose Quintana https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/885173172928204801 If he stays til 7/31, Q faces Seattle, KC and Cleveland. He could move up a day between the KC and Cleveland starts since there are 2 days off.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:21 PM) I remember when first acquired that there was thought that he would play CF. May actually have some in Charlotte before called up. Charlotte? I'm pretty sure he played CF in the MLB a few games.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) I'm pretty sure that this was in future sox already but pretty cool that Kopech squared off against Moncada in the futures game earlier. 2 days ago haha
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:24 PM) For the record, would hate a depth package for Q. Need at least one "sure thing" No such thing.
  6. QUOTE (Username @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Man this Q suspense is killing me. Felt like something was brewing with that weird Twins rumor (seems like a leverage leak) and all the talk about the Sox "outrageous asking price" (more posturing). Then the McGuffey rumor, plus rabbit's statements (here and Twitter), plus WSD putting me on high alert. Sox not announcing starters post-ASB yet isn't helping either. Anybody think there's any credence to the "no serious news announced on the day of the All Star game" theory? Would seem like an odd reason to hold off. I think there is credence to it. Not that I think something is going to happen ASAP.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) Regardless of who they picked, they knew that Samardzija would get them a compensation draft pick at the end of the first round (under the old rules) Any deadline deal would have to bring back more value than the #26 overall draft pick + additional bonus pool money would. Not disagreeing but it's also possible they were offered something good but KW gonna KW.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) I believe Sox were over .500 on draft day last year. That's my point. They weren't in rebuild mode yet.
  9. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) It likely was a tough discussion between dealing Samardiza and going for it, knowing that the Sox could gain a late first round draft pick if he left in free agency. Anything they traded two months of Samardzija for would have had to be appreciably better than the value of the #26 overall pick (and larger bonus pool) that they used on Zack Burdi. If they knew they were going to be rebuilding, I think it's certain they wouldn't have picked Burdi.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:46 PM) This is upsetting and insightful - hopefully Kenny's no longer in such a stance We are rebuilding now so I don't think there will be any issues with what Hahn wants to do.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:45 PM) Perhaps . Unfortunately that's all I can say. That's all I want you to say. I don't want any confirmed names to potentially be pissed off about lol
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) There is a rental from the past couple seasons who had value. The White Sox had a great offer. KW said no to moving him. He wanted to try and compete. I remember this. Hahn wanted to deal Samardzija and KW wanted to go for it.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Just throwing this out there, but wonder if Cubs could be in play with the possibility they trade one of their young stars. If they want to sell low on Russell as part of a package....yes please They're dangling Happ supposedly.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) To this sentiment raBBit replied on Twitter: "Can't be sure. Factors in this whole scenario are looking up for Sox." So when he comes here and says there will be disappointment in a deal, he's mostly referring to the people who think we are going to get an organization's top 2 prospects plus 3 more guys. I never had that expectation but it seems people on here could.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:01 PM) To me, it's less about the Sox settling and more he's implying some of the names discussed on here are off the table. Also a good point.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) That's impossible to objectively qualify. I'm basing my opinion off what rabbit has said.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) Would something big actually happen on the day of the AS game? He always posts those eyes when there are rumors involving the Sox so I wouldn't look into it too much.
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:38 PM) So basically they ARE just going to settle for the return they get for Q. It's starting to sound that way.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) McGuffey's legit. I'd imagine he got a call from someone with the Sox leading to him deleting the tweet. There's a lot of smoke here. Brewers, Yanks, Braves and rockies are the teams. Sox preparing internally for the after effects of a Q trade. They don't want to wait until 7/31. They don't want to feel forced. I think they'll say they don't have to trade him but you can be sure they want to. I think we might be a bit disappointed with return as I've said before. Good stuff. Thanks.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:36 AM) Always sell relievers. ^^^^This
  21. I could buy it since the guy with inside sources here (Rabbit) said yesterday a few pages back that he thinks we will be disappointed with the return. Maybe there is motivation to move him in coming weeks and they ultimately budge on their price.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Ryan McGuffey‏ @RyanMcGuffey 17s17 seconds ago More While in Miami, was told from strong source that 100 percent, Jose Quintana gets dealt & maybe 'sooner than you think'. #WhiteSox Who the hell is Ryan McGuffey lol
  23. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:29 AM) I don't see the Sox getting all that much for the above players, outside of Quintana/Robertson. Melky and Frazier just do not have much value, with the slight edge going to Frazier in value. Pelfrey/Holland/Gonzalez are pretty much worthless via trade Swarzak might get you a piece like Duke did last year, or be a throw in as a part of a larger deal. You're pretty much looking at PTBNL and guys who have struggled in the minors. Scouts gotta dig deep for some hidden gems that could be available.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) Even if Giants trade a bunch of pieces I find it impossible they play as poorly in 2nd half. I know it would be some crazy team ending up with worst record even though Padres looked like they were destined. I would have never guessed Giants thou. I don't even think they will trade a bunch. Just anyone with an expiring deal like Nunez.
  25. Sorry for those who see that there is recent post and are let down after clicking in here lol But who takes over for closer when Robertson is dealt? Trying to get a jump on fantasy baseball to add another closer. I personally think it will be Kahnle unless a team overpays for him in July.
