QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 05:47 AM) I don't think that's true at all. He might have a decent shot of making the team but I don't think he's a lock by any means. Agreed. He can very easily be beaten out this Spring.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 05:40 PM) One issue I will never understand is that we all know that smearing zombie blood on you will make you invisible to them. However, the characters always seem to forget this. Like last night, why not just do that instead of trying to kill 75 of them using hand-to-hand combat? Inexplicable unless they're worried about ruining their clothes or something. Perhaps running low on laundry detergent at Alexandria. SMH Another good point lol

QUOTE (Whitesoxa6 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 05:41 PM) I kind of hope the sox won't finish last in the mlb because i dont see us drafting Seth Beer 1-1 It's completely possibly he doesn't even go 1-1. A lot can happen between now and then.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 06:49 PM) More or less agree with your 25 man, though I do see Ynoa over Soto and Davidson over Asche. Yeah I didn't know Soto had options so probably Ynao.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 06:50 PM) I also don't see Beck near this squadron unless we do intend on chasing the first pick. Yeah I only really had him there as a guy to fill in at long-relief if Covey needed to start for a possible injury.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) I hope we win 50 games.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Didn't understand or like the Shields trade but it is what it is. IMHO, the Sox need Shields for the time being. As of now it looks like the five rotation pitchers will be Q, Rodon, Holland, Shields and Covey. When one of Giolito, Lopez , Fulmer become ready I think Covey is first to go. When the second pitcher becomes ready he will probably replace Q if/when he is traded. When the third of those three is ready, that's when you cut bait on Shields. It's going to be painful to watch but just use and abuse Shields to help buy some time for the younger pitchers. He will also be playing an important role in helping the team get a high 2018 1St round pick, so there's that. Weren't you the one who forgot Gonzalez last time as well? haha

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 03:59 PM) it was worth it just for the Shields bashing. I f***ing hate that guy. FWIW he was arrogant as f*** during the games I went to in Phoenix last week. Didn't sign any autographs, didn't acknowledge the fans, and generally just looked like he had a stick up his ass the entire game. This happens in almost every thread regardless.

Well this thread sucks and I instantly regret creating it lol

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Shields may be cut before Opening Day. It almost looks like he is intentionally pitching poorly so he can get an early paid retirement. It is really hard to watch his nonchalant attitude and lack of competitive demeanor. That is what the Padres Owner got angry with him about in the first place. No way should the Sox have traded for him. So please, go ahead and cut Shields. That would actually help the pitching staff by not having to cover the remaining innings in games where he gets the hook early. Quntana, Rodon, Miguel Gonzales, Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer, and Holland (and maybe others) are all better options than Shields for the starting rotation. And unlike Shields, every one of them truly wants to win every game they pitch. The Sox made a mistake last season by having John Danks in the rotation to start the sesson because they were reticient to cut a guy they owed millions of dollars to. So they eventually had to cut him and pay him, but Danks left us with several losses to boot, including the Opening Day loss. Don't make the same mistake. Bite the bullet, eat his salary, and release him. This won't happen. He is going to be out there getting shelled so we can hold off on rushing Giolito, Lopez, and Fulmer and also delaying a year of service time on them. And I forgot who the tweet was from (it was posted here somewhere) but Rodon may not even be ready by Opening Day.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) We've been binging Game of Thrones since the Christmas break plus we've added Legion recently. Other shows we watch have recently returned such as John Oliver's show, Man Seeking Woman, The Walking Dead (I know it sucks), Americans (starting tonight), and Better Call Saul is starting up again soon. It feels overwhelming to add things right now. I do love Walking Dead. I really do. But you're right. There are inexplicable moments that used to happen a handful of times in a season to almost every episode now. The CGI deer was so bad in this past Sunday's episode. I love the comics a whole not more than the show.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
Bob Sacamano replied to Southwest Sider's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) To further elaborate on this...yes, I prefer Moncada to Robles, but I still think the Sox could've gotten more for Sale. I think they knocked the Eaton trade out of the park, but I was hoping for another player from Boston. Devers was probably a pipe dream but I don't know why the Sox couldn't get at least one of Travis/Swihart/Dalbec in addition to the 4 players they received. Or even one of those guys instead of the 4th piece. -
Archer vs Quintana on Friday.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) They may have also known Washington was willing to part with many of those prices for Eaton and didn't have anything better lined up for him. Yeah, I'm not sure they could have done better for Eaton, even if they waited. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) This is funny now. When a deal surrounding Robles/Giolito/Lopez was being discussed immediately preceding the trade, people were very against trading for a 19 year old who had not shown much power as the prime position player. Agreed. Hard to complain when we got 2/3 of those pieces the very next day. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 09:58 AM) Huge Delmonico fan, although I'd probably give him a look in LF. Not sure he can stick at 3B from what I read. Yeah I'm not sure either, but this would definitely be the season to find out.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) I chuckled at "president Pence". I'm not sure if they had the year, though. I didn't like that the main characters were barely in it. Though, an all Kristen Wiig episode is better than an all Tandy episode. At least it was different. You're not kidding. I do enjoy this show, but when I first got into it, I marathoned the first 2 seasons in one weekend (I was sick and wanted to watch something new haha). He just got so unbearable after a while. It was very difficult to do.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) Hayes is a bit older than I'd like but he's having a nice spring. Yeah he could easily see time at 1B and DH in the majors this year.
-
Nick Delmonico is having himself a nice spring. I'd start him at third in Triple-A and prepare him in the event that Frazier is dealt. Younger than Davidson and also a left-handed bat.

Bates Motel is so good.

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
Bob Sacamano replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (turnin' two @ Mar 6, 2017 -> 09:39 PM) The Ben Badler article seemed to indicate they are well positioned either way. Well, if you read the whole article, it indicates they are favorites ONLY if he's cleared after July 2nd. Lists Cardinals and Padres as favorites otherwise. It's a poorly titled article in other words. -
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 6, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) It's a good thing for a chance. April and May weather is usually not great for Chicago baseball and it's better to have more home games later in the summer I saw there's like a 10-game stretch in May where they play in LA, Seattle, and Arizona.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) Doesn't matter. Unless this guy is willing to take $300k, the Dodgers are out. I don't think anyone is getting at them being an option for him. Just a team that someone was countering to the "Little Havana" comment on the other page. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) Maybe 3-5 inches of snow next Saturday. C'mon man. Dammit I have baseball practice that day lol
