May 1st Game Thread: White Sox at Royals, 7:15PM
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 1, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) Is that what happened to Avi? No problems giving him the day off and really no problem with May getting the ABs. It's just a shame the Sox don't have another intriguing OF like Avi to give some ABs to in a rebuild. Guess they want Garcia down in AAA playing every day. Yeah haven't they been experimenting with him getting at bats in CF? Anyone know how he's looked?

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 1, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) Ah crap it's Covey day. Hopefully Rodon and Shields can get healthy by the end of May, and Lopez keeps improving (he had a solid start this weekend). Also wouldn't mind trades to happen to fit all three haha

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) Anywhere. Shinnocks. Cork and Kerry. Just stop in for a beer or some food and ask them for a parking pass. You then are golden. Oh I don't even do that haha

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2017 -> 11:48 AM) If you know what you are doing, you can park on the street for free. Right by Schaller's pump and the park over there.

Hawk Sounds Melancholy
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ May 1, 2017 -> 11:34 AM) I read his comment as "Good broadcast team", but either of your points are valid. I think more than anything I'm just so disappointed how Hawk has destroyed his broadcast pairing with Stone. I don't even mind if Jason isn't the heir apparent to good Hawk, I just want better chemistry than what happens in the road booth. Ah yeah you're right. Dammit haha it was a quick glance while I was working.

How much do announcers really effect one's level of interest in the game they are watching? I realize that the older I've gotten, I really don't care who is in the booth. When I watch games, I'm normally multi-tasking, potentially out where the game may be on without volume, or just watching and appreciating the game.

Yeah, we should have chosen Chuck Swirsky./green And while it is possible they could have found someone better, we also don't know how hard they tried and the amount of interest from others.

The people who hate on Benetti would hate on his replacement...and then his replacement...and then his replacement and so on.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 1, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) Jurickson Profar was optioned to AAA by the Rangers. Maybe the Sox can try to swing a trade for him. He used to be a top 100 prospect after all and isn't that old. I don't think he ends up going anywhere and I doubt we see him in back in the big leagues until September.

Injury Thread
Posted this in the MLB Catch-all thread but figured I could ask there. I've been dealing with a knee injury for a few months. Whenever I sit, stand still, or lay down too long (even sleeping), my knee stiffens and thigh hurt. I think I hyper-extended it in February. When I walk, occasionally, there is a pop in my knee. My buddy has had a torn ACL in his life and thinks that it could be that. What do you guys think? Also really want to know since I'm playing in a baseball league this summer and I catch (yeah, it's awful for the week leading up to the next game). I just don't want to do any more damage to it and figuring out what I should do.

Eaton tears ACL, Out for Year
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 02:12 PM) I tore my ACL and meniscus and was playing sports with a brace at six months, fully recovered at nine. The ACL/meniscus combo is really s***ty though, as it doesn't let you be aggressive at all to begin rehab. I've been dealing with a knee injury for a few months. 2017 Offseason White Sox News, Notes, and Tweets thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2017 -> 08:47 AM) Something interesting, Jacob May, I agree, has no business being on a major league roster, but has anyone checked out Trayce Thompson? After an 0-8 with 3 ks with the Dodgers, he is 1-43 with 19 ks in AAA. Looks like the Sox sold high there. Most knew it...a few here are still unwilling to realize it.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2017 -> 08:30 AM) Exactly. I've seen people injure themselves just walking down the street. It's too bad. I hope he can fully recover. Some do, some don't. Obviously knee surgery has come a long way the last 20 years, but you never know. Some guys continue to have problems. We do know he will work his ass off to get back to normal. Shifting over to left next season should help him out.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2017 -> 08:23 AM) Pete Rose ran out everything, including walks and he didn't get hurt. It's a fluke. To think you are a greater injury chance playing hard than not is silly. He has run out thousands of these. He went down on one. It could happen to a guy jogging to first base as well. Don't hustle, take games off. It's the new way. I wonder how the players who didn't take games off and hustled all the time ever made it. The weird part is it almost is the exact opposite pitching. The speed gun and k-rate are almost all that matters. Agreed 100%. He just took a bad step on the base.

Selling at the deadline: Renteria and locker room reaction
QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ May 1, 2017 -> 07:22 AM) How do you figure this? Lucas Harrell returned Travis Demeritte last year who's on a lot of top 100 lists. This is just a few months after Harrell was pitching in Korea. James Shields returned Fernando Tatis Jr, also on top 100 lists. There are other examples too, I'm sure I know it's not apples to apples but saying Gonzales and Holland will get you NOBODY is incorrect. Cashner sucked last year and was moved for a decent return.

David Robertson
Herrera and Cain make so much sense for the Nationals if the Royals decide to be sellers.

Bullpen
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) Jones and Robertson you might get something decent back. The other guys, even if they keep this up for a while don't have the track record IMO where a team will give up a significant prospect for them even if desperate. Jennings maybe since he's a lefty.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Is anyone driving Robles back? I mean, if it helps facilitate the deal, I'll drive to wherever he is and drive him to wherever he needs to be.

QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) Well I'm not really sure how long of a drive it is but they could take turns and get him there faster... True...
