The Say Sorry to Rick Hahn Thread
I know you're joking, but just because you brought it up.......they simply can't get away with that this year. No "We were a year early to the party" or "Next year is the real start of this." Yes, injuries happen, but they happen to every team. Go back and listen to the interviews given during Spring Training. The expectations were not just the playoffs, but playoff series wins. Anything else is a failure. If it doesn't happen this season, shave one year off the "window" because it's wide open right now. They better capitalize on it.

The Say Sorry to Rick Hahn Thread
You don’t know if any of that is true. We can speculate all we want, but what is fact are the results. And again, he’s been either Assistant GM or GM since 2002. The Sox record since 2002 is borderline horrific. So again, there is no “apology” coming to a man who has held a VERY high ranking position with one of least successful teams in baseball since he began his employment tenure. If you want to shower him with roses, go nuts. But I don’t know how much support you’re going to have.

The Say Sorry to Rick Hahn Thread
Rick Hahn was named GM in late October, 2012. He was assistant GM beginning in 2002. But just looking at his run as “the guy”.....he didn’t have a winning season in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019......it took a COVID-shortened season for him to achieve his first winning record as GM, and the Sox won one game in the Playoffs. He has been the man in charge for 8+ seasons and has 1 playoff victory to his name. No, I will not be apologizing to Rick Hahn. As others have said, it would be far more appropriate for the organization to apologize to us.

Indians @ Sox 5/1--3:00 Central
Just got back from a long walk with the family, I don’t envy any of the fielders out there today, it’s pretty crazy in the city.

The TLR Manager Thread
It’s really the fault of Katz and Cairo, because they aren’t whispering loud enough to Tony (that tends to happen when you hit 76, can’t really blame TLR on that one)
-
The TLR Manager Thread
So obviously we don’t know if those whispers are happening. So you can keep asking the question, but you know there is no way we find that out. What we do know is Tony LaRussa is the manager, and was paid quite a lot of money to do so. He was also selected over many other quality candidates, apparently because of his vast amount of experience. Yet here you are, asking about Ethan Katz and Miguel Cairo. As Hawk would say.....STRETCH!

The TLR Manager Thread
Doesn’t the buck stop at the manager? It’s the reason he makes more than anyone else, right? If they Cairo and Katz DID offer input and were ignored, it’s an even bigger red flag for TLR. If they didn’t....why didn’t the HOF Baseball mind Tony La Russa know better than them? Isn’t that why he was brought in?

NFL 2021 offseason thread
If the Bears found their QB star, and a 10 year OL starter, it doesn’t matter what they gave up to get it.

Which I think is the right move

More than a year. This 100% buys them another rebuild IMO, unless the next 18 months are just an embarrassment.

Feel like he's got to see some action one way or another, but I actually like the Dalton move more now, use him as an actual bridge QB.

I said it with the Trubisky pick and I'll say it with this pick. I like the conviction to go get your guy. It better be the right one.

Please, quick, someone make the argument TLR is putting the team in the best position to win... LaRussa knows best, right @poppysox?

GAME THREADS WARNING
I don't think you wanted TLR to die, either. I think you were upset during the game like many of us were and said something stupid. I'm just pointing out when you do say something stupid like that, it's not easy for others to assume that "clearly I don't wish anyone ill will over a baseball game" when that's exactly what you did." Which is sort of the point of this thread. Just don't cross the line. We all have a pretty good idea of what that line is.
-
GAME THREADS WARNING
I don't want to pile on here, but you wished death on a manager because of his decisions in the game. I don't know if you can really use "clearly" here....
-
The TLR Manager Thread
But you said it's unfair for fans to "second guess" the manager, when we've established it's not second guessing when you know it's the wrong call before the event took place. Is that right?

The TLR Manager Thread
Strong disagree. If they are below .500 in August, or key players start getting more vocal, it's well within reality for Tony to say after the season "I was so thankful to get back into the dugout one more time with a great group of guys, but after turning 77 in October, I think it's time to enjoy retirement once and for all.'

Yep, you'll be perfectly fine. You'll still be wrong, but you'll live. ?
