TLR gives the weirdest fucking quotes.

He will be making 42 million in 2023 and 2024 combined, with a 2025 club option for 25 million. It's not a crazy take from fathom.

I still think the team is going to be very good, and I understand they are dealing with injuries. I saw the graphic the Sox put up with the OD lineup, and the pitchers gave me a little bit of a pause, that's all. Luckily, it seems like they have an offense that should put up a bunch of runs. We'll see.

Sorry, but having Tanner Banks, Kyle Crick, Matt Foster, Dallas Keuchel, Jose Ruiz Bennett Sousa and Vince Velasquez all on the OD roster for a "World Series Contending" team gives me some pause.

I think that's a bit of a stretch in this case.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Tony replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Love the honesty from Acuna here: -
The issue I have with this is the alternative became Vince Velasquez. I wouldn't want to invest long term dollars into Carlos Rodon. I understand that. But the Sox didn't have to. They could have made a one-year investment to a pitcher that just gave them a 5 WAR in 2021, and have thin pitching depth in their organization. It would have just cost them money, nothing else. "Taking a chance" is an overstatement when it's a one-year commitment to a player that JUST produced for you. And looking at things in hindsight, if you're asking me if I'd rather have Rodon or Harrison/Velazquez/Kelly in 2022...I'm taking Rodon. Mendick can play the Harrison role, VV SUCKS, and who knows when Joe Kelly actually gets here.

Grandal got hurt, whole big thing, so they are going to try and have Cueto play catcher. We’ll see if it works out, guy still has a hell of an arm.

Are the 2022 White Sox better than the 2021 team? On offense, yes, by a lot!
Tony replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I believe I could be in the best shape of my life, If I started eating better and worked out 6 days a week…..which seems about just as likely to happen as the White Sox offense staying healthy all season. -
It's a very boring C. They had a very good team coming into the offseason. They have a very good team coming into this season as well. They made some moves, but nothing to make this team substantially better than it was last year. I wanted them to be much more aggressive, and try to maximize their chances at a possible Championship in the next two years. I don't feel like they put in that effort. I don't believe they made any moves this offseason that will make the significantly worse than last season, but that's not really something you deserve credit for. That's a pretty low bar to clear. I'm excited for the season to start and excited to see this team win a lot of ballgames in 2022. I just don't feel like they have put themselves in the best position to win a Championship like they could have, and that's frustrating.

Cueto was the best guy left on the market and with Lynn hurt, it was basically a signing that needed to happen. With that said, the above is also absolutely correct. I think Leury can provide some value, but if you asked me which I’d rather have: Rodon + Leury or Leury + Velasquez + Harrison + Cueto I’m taking the top option every time, and there is no reason it couldn’t have played out that way.

I've been guilty far too many times myself. I get it.

What's not funny is you spamming this board with nearly 17,000 posts of the same irrational bullshit, hijacking thread after thread in the process.

Sox Acquire Reese McGuire for Zack Collins, Officially

On one hand, I’m glad I’m seemingly the only thing that can you bring you any joy. On the other hand, that fact makes me sad for you. -
Lance Lynn has slight tendon tear, 4 weeks no throwing off mound

You know who would be soooooo sick right now? Carlos Rodon. Too bad the Sox couldn't acquire him just for the year, and not have to make any long-term investment in him. -

Some is fine, just asking for moderation doesn't seem like a crazy ask. -

So I'm sure @Two-Gun Pete will still find something to complain about because that's his only shtick, but the fills the backup defensive catcher role. -
Of course it is. But it's also possible the hold a decent division lead early and can "wait" to acquire a starter. But it's all a risk. Or you don't have to worry about any of this and just use money to sign whoever you want...but that ship has unfortunately sailed.

This......is not going well for you.

I was told last week the Sox system is very underrated because of all the "really young guys" the Sox have in the system ?
-
I would say counting on Dallas Keuchel/Vince Velasquez/Reynaldo Lopez as your "depth" is the worse mistake, but we're splitting hairs at this point.
