I was told last week the Sox system is very underrated because of all the "really young guys" the Sox have in the system ?
-
I would say counting on Dallas Keuchel/Vince Velasquez/Reynaldo Lopez as your "depth" is the worse mistake, but we're splitting hairs at this point.
-
-
And I believe the Sox at this point has done that to a decent degree, and also aren't done. However, by your logic, that would mean every team would have poor offseasons as my original question still stands...find me a perfect roster. I'll do the assignment for you and tell you there isn't one. Every team has holes. If backup catcher is one the Sox biggest, I'm very confident in their chances in 2022, as well as being confident they can fill that hole rather cheaply if desired.
-
That....didn't answer my question.
-
Find me other teams with a "perfect" roster. I'm been hard on the Sox, but if one of your top 3 complaints with the roster is backup catcher....come on.

He has to throw 160 IP this year for his 2023 money to vest, correct? Spotrac says it's already vested but that doesn't seem right

I’m waiting until Opening Day to make a call.
-
Good breakdown Ray.
-
I mean, did you really expect anything less from @Two-Gun Pete? What in his posting history would tell you he would reply with anything other than what he sent out?
-
I thought the same thing. I'd trade Crochet for Manaea today, even with Manaea being a FA at the end of the year. It's worth the risk if Oakland is willing to put in the time with Crochet.

Yeah, I don't think they are done. I think they got one more move coming.
-
Well played, sir.

Talk about moving the goalposts! Holy Balta!

There was never a way for it to work after the way last season went. He simply couldn't be on this team Opening Day.
-
TLR is going to have a ton of options to play with. This isn't going to be a team with a "regular" lineup.
-
Edit, the Sox GOT MONEY BACK! ?
-
Good move all things considered. If the Sox didn't cover any money on Kimbrel, a BUNCH of people have to eat some shit around here ?

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud

If that’s not a slogan for White Sox Baseball, I don’t know what is! -
Not sure that's going to help the argument of them winning a playoff series.
-
So then this should be a fairly easy question to answer, right? In the last 100 years (1922-2022) the White Sox have won 3 playoff series, and they all happened in 2005. One magical team won three playoff series for this franchise. If I'm going off of the information I have to work with about this franchise, it seems fairly unlikely but I'm hoping for the best. It took COVID to get them into the playoffs in back to back seasons for the first time in franchise history, but they did it. Maybe they can actually win a playoff series too.

In fact, Will Smith was the favorite to win for Best Actor coming into the night, the first time he has won the award. Literally the highest award you can win as an actor. And NO ONE is talking about him winning or his performance, instead it’s about him slapping a comedian over a joke. Why in the hell would Will Smith want that? What is the “deal” they worked out for this to all make sense. You explain that to me, otherwise the whole “staged” theory falls apart.
-
Here is why the "staged" argument doesn't make sense to me. Why do Chris Rock and Will Smith agree to it? What is the benefit they get out of it? It's not like either are in desperate need for PR. This is going to follow both of them for years. If it was staged, what is the conversation Chris Rock and Will Smith have? How does it make sense for Chris Rock to be a part of it? How does it make sense for Will Smith to be a part of it? That's where the "staged" argument breaks down for me. Neither have any motive to be part of this "staged" event.
