- Cueto to Sox (Official)
The issue I have with this is the alternative became Vince Velasquez. I wouldn't want to invest long term dollars into Carlos Rodon. I understand that. But the Sox didn't have to. They could have made a one-year investment to a pitcher that just gave them a 5 WAR in 2021, and have thin pitching depth in their organization. It would have just cost them money, nothing else. "Taking a chance" is an overstatement when it's a one-year commitment to a player that JUST produced for you. And looking at things in hindsight, if you're asking me if I'd rather have Rodon or Harrison/Velazquez/Kelly in 2022...I'm taking Rodon. Mendick can play the Harrison role, VV SUCKS, and who knows when Joe Kelly actually gets here.- Cueto to Sox (Official)
Grandal got hurt, whole big thing, so they are going to try and have Cueto play catcher. We’ll see if it works out, guy still has a hell of an arm.- Are the 2022 White Sox better than the 2021 team? On offense, yes, by a lot!
I believe I could be in the best shape of my life, If I started eating better and worked out 6 days a week…..which seems about just as likely to happen as the White Sox offense staying healthy all season.- Score the Offseason!
It's a very boring C. They had a very good team coming into the offseason. They have a very good team coming into this season as well. They made some moves, but nothing to make this team substantially better than it was last year. I wanted them to be much more aggressive, and try to maximize their chances at a possible Championship in the next two years. I don't feel like they put in that effort. I don't believe they made any moves this offseason that will make the significantly worse than last season, but that's not really something you deserve credit for. That's a pretty low bar to clear. I'm excited for the season to start and excited to see this team win a lot of ballgames in 2022. I just don't feel like they have put themselves in the best position to win a Championship like they could have, and that's frustrating.- Cueto to Sox (Official)
Cueto was the best guy left on the market and with Lynn hurt, it was basically a signing that needed to happen. With that said, the above is also absolutely correct. I think Leury can provide some value, but if you asked me which I’d rather have: Rodon + Leury or Leury + Velasquez + Harrison + Cueto I’m taking the top option every time, and there is no reason it couldn’t have played out that way.- Austin Meadows traded to the Tigers
I've been guilty far too many times myself. I get it.- Austin Meadows traded to the Tigers
What's not funny is you spamming this board with nearly 17,000 posts of the same irrational bullshit, hijacking thread after thread in the process.- Sox Acquire Reese McGuire for Zack Collins, Officially
On one hand, I’m glad I’m seemingly the only thing that can you bring you any joy. On the other hand, that fact makes me sad for you.- Lance Lynn has slight tendon tear, 4 weeks no throwing off mound
You know who would be soooooo sick right now? Carlos Rodon. Too bad the Sox couldn't acquire him just for the year, and not have to make any long-term investment in him.- Sox Acquire Reese McGuire for Zack Collins, Officially
It got whacked zapped.- Sox Acquire Reese McGuire for Zack Collins, Officially
Some is fine, just asking for moderation doesn't seem like a crazy ask.- Sox Acquire Reese McGuire for Zack Collins, Officially
So I'm sure @Two-Gun Pete will still find something to complain about because that's his only shtick, but the fills the backup defensive catcher role.- Manaea to Padres, Sox were in on him
Of course it is. But it's also possible the hold a decent division lead early and can "wait" to acquire a starter. But it's all a risk. Or you don't have to worry about any of this and just use money to sign whoever you want...but that ship has unfortunately sailed.- Manaea to Padres, Sox were in on him
This......is not going well for you.- Manaea to Padres, Sox were in on him
I was told last week the Sox system is very underrated because of all the "really young guys" the Sox have in the system ?- Manaea to Padres, Sox were in on him
I would say counting on Dallas Keuchel/Vince Velasquez/Reynaldo Lopez as your "depth" is the worse mistake, but we're splitting hairs at this point.- Why the Sox should NOT trade for Sean Manaea
- Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
And I believe the Sox at this point has done that to a decent degree, and also aren't done. However, by your logic, that would mean every team would have poor offseasons as my original question still stands...find me a perfect roster. I'll do the assignment for you and tell you there isn't one. Every team has holes. If backup catcher is one the Sox biggest, I'm very confident in their chances in 2022, as well as being confident they can fill that hole rather cheaply if desired.- Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
That....didn't answer my question.- Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Find me other teams with a "perfect" roster. I'm been hard on the Sox, but if one of your top 3 complaints with the roster is backup catcher....come on.- ST GT 4/1: OAK @ SOX
He has to throw 160 IP this year for his 2023 money to vest, correct? Spotrac says it's already vested but that doesn't seem right- Score the Offseason!
I’m waiting until Opening Day to make a call. - Cueto to Sox (Official)
