I missed like 30 pages and I'm not going to go back and read them, but do you guys think the Sox have any shot at Harper? Getting him is the only way I would feel better.

While this is true, wouldn't it make more sense for them to keep Pederson and use Verdugo as the centerpiece in a trade for a guy like Kluber?

I find it interesting how Rosenthal mentions nothing about the Sox ownership in that tweet. Maybe Jerry really is prepared to pay what it will take to get him.

I would take Machado at SS over not having him at all, but him at 3B would be optimal. I really do not like the idea of shuffling Anderson and Moncada around to different positions.

Well they developed 4 home grown stars in Altuve, Bregman, Correa, and Springer. I don't see the Sox being able to develop hitting talent that efficiently so they have to go to free agency to make up for it. If the Sox don't convert now when the situation couldn't have developed any more perfectly, I just don't think they ever will.

Exactly. I'm going to wait until this plays out to reserve judgment, but I'll lose pretty much all faith in this team winning anything in the near future if they don't get one of these guys. There's just no way to build a championship contender in this day in age without using free agency as a tool to add impact talent.

If they're not going to sign a high dollar guy now when the conditions are perfect, they never will. They would be relying almost entirely on developing talent from within which won't work.

The stadium is going to be a ghosttown if they come up empty. Probably even lower attendance totals than last year.

I agree with the comment mentioned earlier. If the Padres stuff is true (in that Lozano is trying to get the Sox to up their offer), it would make sense that we are towards the finish line and Hahn/Lozano are working on finishing the deal, with it being announced sometime this week.
