  1. I don't know what to think of this as far as the Sox go.
  2. I don't see the Sox signing Corbin, but I like where your head is at. Even if they got JA Happ instead, I still like their chances to compete in this division. I think this team will benefit greatly from having no expectations as well as Eloy's arrival early in the season.
  3. The Indians lost Donaldson, will probably lose Allen, Miller, and Brantley, and might trade Kluber or Bauer. Those are significant losses, and given the Indians payroll situation, those free agent departures likely won't be replaced adequately. It's also debatable whether Lindor and Ramirez will be as good next year as they were in 2018. I would be shocked if they were as good as they were last year. I think they're like an 85 win team at most in 2019.
  4. Well said. I feel like SS2K5 just tries to pick fights with people that don't agree with him.
  5. Not to mention that he included James Pazos, who had a nice season last year and is a left handed reliever under cheap team control for several more years. The guy is an idiot. I want Hahn to try to take advantage of him next.
  6. I think it's Segura/Pazos/Nicasio for just Crawford and Santana. No other prospects going to Seattle.
  7. Why even waste your time being a fan if you're so pessimistic? What's the point?
  8. I don't want Corbin. Happ and someone like Matt Shoemaker is fine with me.
  9. I'm not going to give up hope until they've signed elsewhere, but the Phillies look like they're motivated to add one of these guys and the Yankees have an endless budget. It'll be an uphill battle, that's for sure.
  10. Harper to the Phillies and Machado to the Yankees would be devastating. Absolutely devastating.
  11. I suppose Mallex Smith would be of interest too, but obviously he wouldn't require as much in terms of prospects as Haniger. Smith would look nice as the leadoff guy for the Sox.
  12. Haniger is a stud and controllable for 4 more years. The Sox could plug him into CF for the foreseeable future. Like you said, it might take more than one prospect to get him but taking on Seager's contract would probably lessen what the Sox would have to give up. It's an intriguing possibility as a combo deal.
  13. Haniger would be a great get. His inclusion would make taking on Seager's contract well worth it. The only issue is what the Sox would have to give up. The Mariners would probably want at least one good prospect in order to part with Haniger. I wonder if a deal with Basabe/Rutherford as the headliner with a secondary piece like Jordan Stephens or Fulmer would get it done.
  14. I'll take Hamilton (to replace Engel), Shoemaker or Miller (give either one of them a chance to be the #5 starter), and Boxberger or Parker.
  15. Since the Mariners are looking to rebuild and cut salaries, their next obvious move is to trade Kyle Seager, who is owed 57.5MM over the next 3 seasons. He didn't have a good season at all last year, but I'm wondering if the Sox should look into this if the Mariners are willing to include Mitch Haniger with him, like they did with Diaz in the Cano deal. For shits and giggles, let's say the Sox acquired those 2 and then signed Harper. Here is what the lineup could look like next year. Haniger CF Moncada 2B Harper RF Abreu 1B Palka DH Eloy LF Seager 3B Anderson SS Castillo C Thoughts?
  16. I think it's more likely that they add a backup catcher on the cheap via free agency to hold down the fort until one of Zavala/Collins is ready.
  17. I would be rioting in the streets if I was a Mets fan. The Mariners straight up fleeced them.
  18. Obviously I was talking about the upper echelon guys like Harper and Machado.
  19. They're most likely basing that prediction off the fact that the most expensive free agent contract the Sox have ever given anyone was $68 million, but there is no better time than right now to change that.
  20. I didn't know Camargo had such a good season last year, but there's still no way I would give up on Robert right now.
  21. Ken Rosenthal tweeted: "#Mariners have shown interest in shortstop J.P. Crawford as one piece from #Phillies in a possible deal for Jean Segura, sources tell The Athletic. Per @JSalisburyNBCS, PHI would still pursue Machado as a free agent (to play 3B) if they acquired Segura in a trade." They can have Machado. We'll take Harper.
  22. That would be a really solid bullpen. I do agree that they should try to beef up the relief pitching as much as possible to take some pressure off of a young starting rotation.
  23. Hahn said that they are not finished adding to the bullpen, and I would assume that free agency is probably the way they will go to get that next guy? Who do you think is a likely target? Jeurys Familia maybe?
