  1. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 10, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) JJ Stankevitz @JJStankevitz 4m First #WhiteSox spring roster cuts: Spencer Adams, Brian Clark, Zack Collins, Courtney Hawkins and David Holmberg sent to minor league camp. Kind of disappointing that Collins was already sent down. I thought he did pretty well.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 10, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) His ceiling is the roof. But is he a generational talent?
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 05:14 PM) I agree here. I've heard Levine say he'd be up in May, but that just seems to be a guess like anyone else. He's never played in AAA (even though he got a look with the Red Sox). Let him go to the International League, and be one of the best players in that league at age 22, and then when he has nothing else to prove in that league, then bring him to the Sox. If that's August or September, great. Agreed. I'd even give him a full year in Charlotte if it benefits him long term. I don't know what the rush is in getting him to Chicago ASAP.
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) considering 2/3 of the lineup hasn't seen an MLB pitch, odds are it would be a poor lineup. I said future lineup (as in 2019 or 2020). Not right now.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) I think he is going to get paid closer to the contract Harper wants than Harper lol and he deserves it more. Machado will likely get the contract Stanton got (probably more). Yeah, signing him is obviously the most unrealistic part of that lineup but I can dream, right?
  6. There's a ton of variables to this, but what if the Sox had a future lineup of: 1. Anderson (SS) 2. Moncada (2B) 3. Beer (1B) 4. Machado (3B) 5. Collins © 6. Abreu (DH) 7. Frazier/Rutherford (RF) 8. Robert (LF) 9. Mateo (CF) That would be insane.
  7. What about Frazier/Rutherford, Mateo, Andujar, Fowler and Montgomery?
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) Don't think so, pretty sure Shaw is gonna be the third stringer/practice squad qb Good. I wanted to stab myself in the chest with a fork when he was the starter last year. It was atrocious.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) I know everyone is down on Mateo but I think he is someone that could easily be tried in CF and becomes a less risky prospect. That's a really good idea. He didn't have a great season last year but he's only 21 and I'm sure his speed would play quite well in CF. Moncada and Anderson have the middle infield spots locked up for the next half decade at least most likely but I really do like Mateo's potential in CF. He wouldn't even have to hit that well to be a very valuable commodity if his defense was elite.
  10. Is Matt Barkley coming back next year as a backup?
  11. I'm just going to assume that Gleyber is untouchable so Frazier + Rutherford as a starting point is a must for me.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) Quoted right above your post for the most part. That's it? I thought the Yankees potential interest in Q was common knowledge by now.
  13. Would someone please tell me what is in the link in the original post? I can't see it.
  14. $19 million guaranteed? For Mike Glennon? Wow.
  15. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) Did you know Diaz did not allow a single earned run over his last 22.2 innings pitched in the minors? He was rock solid in relief to close out the season and showed 22.2 ip 14 hits 11 bb 31 k's He seems to have really turned a corner and improving. Sox scouts undoubtedly noticed this and wanted him to be included in the Sale deal. Unless the Sox think Diaz can become a dominant set up man or closer (if Burdi falters), I would've asked for another bat in place of him...but maybe that's just me.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 10:53 AM) That's just it though. Not every team wants to deal away that much. This is likely the best offer they received. All we heard was reluctance to part with guys from the Yankees and Braves side (doubt either interest was sincere enough). Dodgers, Brewers and Padres were never connected. Nationals are moot since we received 2 of them the next day. That leaves only Red Sox. Red Sox don't have to pay 3 top 50 guys if the best offer for Sale (their's) only includes 2. I guess. The Red Sox must have not been compelled to put a third blue chip guy on the table if they knew their offer was already the best. It's just annoying. I like Basabe's potential but Diaz doesn't do much for me. He just seems like another bullpen arm. Even a guy like Travis or Dalbec in place of him would've made the deal much better.
  17. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 10:43 AM) There are 30 MLB teams, how many have 3 top 50 prospects? Uh...the Red Sox did before the trade. The Nationals before the Eaton deal as well, maybe the Dodgers, Brewers, Padres, Braves, and Yankees too. My point isn't that Hahn got robbed in this trade. Moncada and Kopech at the front end were great gets. I'm simply saying he probably could've gotten one more impact piece had he been a little more persistent in the negotiations.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) Haven't read a post of this thread so this may be redundant but: C: Narvaez/Smith 1B: Abreu 2B: Saladino/Sanchez 3B: Frazier SS: Anderson LF: Cabrera CF: Tilson/L. Garcia RF: A. Garcia DH: Davidson/Hayes (RH/LH platoon, because I had 24 players and needed another) SP: Quintana, Rodon, Shields, Gonzalez, Holland RP: Robertson, Jones, Jennings, Ynoa, Putnam, Petricka, Burdi You think Burdi will make the team out of Spring Training? That would be interesting to say the least.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) I can't tell if this board underrates how valuable a top 5 and top 20 prospect is to a team, or if its the underrating of prospects in the 50-150 range, where because of the anchoring of the top talent suddenly seem like "throw-ins" I believe Sale is worth 3 top 50 prospects. I feel like the Sox might have been able to pry Devers away had the Price injury happened earlier but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
  20. Moncada/Kopech/Devers/Diaz = Slam Dunk Moncada/Kopech/Basabe/any of Dalbec, Swihart, Travis/Diaz = Very Nice Moncada/Kopech/Basabe/Diaz = Decent That's how I see it. I agree with Jose Abreu above. They didn't do terrible but they could've done better.
  21. Unfortunately there aren't too many Jewish ballplayers these days so they had to be lenient in order to put together a team. I'm rooting for them for sure. #JewCrew
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 07:31 AM) Honestly, I think there is room for all three. Right now, it seems like our bench will likely be Sanchez, Bourjos, L. Garcia, & Davidson. I just don't see who could beat out these guys. Liriano & Asche are the only real threats IMO and I think they'd need to have huge spring trainings to overtake them. Hayes is the only other possibility, but he can start 2017 in AAA, so why not give Davidson an extended look in the majors being discarding him. I'd love to see Liriano win a spot over any of those guys. He was a top 100 prospect not too long ago and is still quite young. I think he has more potential than the rest of the options.
  23. If Leury could hit he would definitely make the team in my eyes. As of now, I'm not sure. His speed/versatility is nice but he can't hit a lick.
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 10:48 PM) Davidson is a roster lock. I don't think that's true at all. He might have a decent shot of making the team but I don't think he's a lock by any means.
  25. Shields' job in 2017 is to get f***ing shelled every start and allow the young pitchers to develop in the minors. I don't care if the Sox make him start every other game, he's crucial in the tanking effort.
