  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 06:07 AM) ? They needed a right handed hitting OF. Now thry have one. All it cost is cash. Why didn't they sign him before Spring Training started then? I wouldn't pay anything for Bourjos, even if it is just money. He's mediocre at best and I don't know how the Rays don't have a minor leaguer they could've given an opportunity to instead of him.
  2. Not sure if it really makes a difference for a fringe prospect like May, but why not keep him in the minors for a couple weeks to get the extra year of control just in case he becomes something in the big leagues?
  3. I'll never, ever, ever understand the Rays.
  4. Why exactly is the majority of this thread about politics instead of Giolito? I purposely avoid the filibuster section because I come here to talk Sox...not to have to go through tons of political posts and see people bickering at each other.
  5. I'm calling him Twinkie, not sure about you guys.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 04:34 PM) I hope Benetti is in and out after a few years. There, I said it. Agreed. He's so bland.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 12:18 AM) I disagree with almost everything written in this thread by posters so I will refrain from commenting unless you really wanna hear my opinion. I'll spare you of it since I disagree with almost all posts nowadays during the alleged rebuild. I really want to hear your opinion. Please tell us your feelings.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) Buy whatever you'd like. Meadows isn't an option. If he were, the deal would have been consummated. I feel like we did this same thing with Trea Turner and Alex Bregman. Not happening. Then why would Hahn still be talking with Huntington if he was insistent on not moving Meadows? It sounds like Meadows is a must for the Sox.
  9. If Meadows is off the table entirely, I don't think the teams would still be talking. I don't buy it.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 08:37 AM) 225 Twinkies? Has Yoan been hanging out with Afroman, Jay & Silent Bob? I guess we know why Tallahassee was so pissed in Zombieland. Holy hell that's alot of sugar. Twinkies are disgusting. Ho Ho's/Swiss Rolls FTW.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) Because of the first two deals, the Sox have to get a top position player as a headliner in this deal. Really they should be at least the top two players. More pitchers just puts the rebuild further behind. Not true. It's about collecting the best talent possible. I'd prefer an elite hitter over an elite pitcher at this point too, but I'm not going to turn away an elite prospect for a decent one just because of the positions they play.
  12. I have a feeling that something will happen soon.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 07:23 AM) Mike, I'm not sure 23 would be considered old for AA. In fact, I'd guess it's right around league average or maybe even a little below. Regardless, Delmonico has real talent even if recent prospect rankings haven't recognized it. Part of that is due to the troubles he had in Milwaukee, where he quickly lost a lot of goodwill. Having said that, there's no denying how impressive his AA season was for us last year. Rarely do you see guys post numbers like that in Birmingham. 23 isn't super old but it's not super young either. He might be one of those guys that develops at a later age. I hope he gets some time in Chicago this season. He's an interesting prospect for sure.
  14. He absolute tore up AA last year; albeit as a 23 year old, but still. He's only 24 right now. It'd be great if he turned into a 1-2 WAR regular in the lineup.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) With a guy like this, if you wait for him, you miss out on him. This is the best chance the White Sox have left to get a kid who is quite literally regarded as a generational talent into the system. Three years from now, he is going to be where Yoan Moncada is at. or 3 years from now he could be floundering in rookie ball. I'm definitely not opposed to acquiring him, he just can't be the main piece for Q. Way too much risk.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 10:29 AM) It doesn't shock me that they don't want to part with Maitan. The guy will be a top 10 prospect as soon as he starts playing pro ball. He may well have a higher ceiling than any guy that has been talked about in connection with Quintana. I would kick an orphan to get him into our system. He hasn't even had a professional at-bat yet. He's 17 years old. The hype train has to slow down a bit until he shows he can do it against pro competition.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 11:48 PM) This board is like America ... changing. So many people want cookie cutter announcers now and actually think Hawk is lousy. My gawd. Hawk does not speak in an annoying announcer voice. Same with Stoney. He is not a plastic announcer. He's real. I must admit I thought Benetti did a nice job last year and had a good rapport with Stone. Sox did a good job of picking Benetti who doesn't seem to be a corporate tool either. So in a nutshell, we've got people on this board wanting the Sox to lose every game. Check. We've got people who do not want to see our best prospects for a long long time on the big league team lest they be "rushed" and "flop like Beckham did." Check. Sad state of affairs. Give me Hawk. Give me rebuilds like the Yankees (spend spend spend and never be lousy!) Give me winning baseball not the crap the Sox have spewed out there in the Robin era. I agree with the bolded. The rest? Not so much.
  18. Tucker/Martes/Reed/Laureano is what I'm guessing the package will be.
  19. Anyone think the Sox could be interested in Joba Chamberlain as a reclamation project? He was released today.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) I find it very interesting that Burdi still hasn't been sent out, and that he wasn't sent out the day that the rest of the top group was sent out, including someone like Fulmer. I wonder if he has a shot? It would be unforgivable if the Sox burned a year of service time on him for absolutely no reason.
  21. I'd like to see the bench be Liriano, Soto/Narvaez, Delmonico, and Sanchez. In reality Davidson and Leury will probably make it even though I don't think either of them offers much of anything.
  22. Honestly I'd rather see Nicky Delmonico make it over Davidson.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) I can assure you that Renteria and the boys will be trying to win baseball games. I don't doubt that the Sox want to win every game; it just won't happen often, at least in 2017.
  24. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 09:18 AM) #WhiteSox high asking price for Jose Quintana makes sense based on the maximum returns they got in both the Sale and Eaton trades. #patience https://twitter.com/JimBowden_ESPN/status/844543363013586944 Well, um, isn't this common sense?
  25. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) I'm pretty sure he did. I recall him looking like he should be a barista at Starbucks with they type of glasses he wears. lmfao. He deserves a roster spot so long as he provides the team with coffee every morning.
