Crochet is obviously going to stay in the bullpen for the rest of this season, but I wonder if the Sox will put him on the Chris Sale path. Have him be a high leverage guy next year and then stretch him out to become a starter in 2022. I feel like that would make some degree of sense because Keuchel would be nearing the end of his contract at that point anyway.

If he’s not healthy why would the Sox have him pitching?

Encarnacion is washed but at least he still can hit a home run now and then. And he might be a weapon off the bench as a pinch hitter. Mazara is just totally useless and should get very little playing time from now on.

There’s absolutely no way the Cubs win the National League. They probably won’t even win a single round of the playoffs. They’re just lucky that they play in a terribly mediocre division.

I like this decision a lot. Yeah he’s inexperienced, but he wasn’t playing in minor league games anyway so getting him some innings against a bad team in his debut is a good plan. Hopefully he can go 3-4 innings and then Gio Gonzalez piggybacks him.
