QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) So yeah, Aaron Rowand is a power hitter. He's probably not gonna hit 35 homers, but there's nothing wrong with 25 homers and 40 doubles now, is there? Not at all. BUT THAT'S MY POINT WSF. THe "kids" on this Board expect too much out of our White Sox.

QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Seems you've forgotten all of your drivel from November and December about how the Sox wouldn't add anyone or sign anyone because they're too cheap. As I recall you were here pretty much every day then, adding in your .02 Could you blame me after the '03-'04 offseason? And let's not forget that I have previously posted here that I was GLAD I was wrong about this offseason. But let's not act like JR and Co. went out this offseason and added $10-$20 million in payroll. JR and Co. dumped big contracts for small contracts in an attempt to address deficiencies. Will it work? NOBODY KNOWS AND THAT IS MY POINT. You're one of the smarter posters here JimH even if we don't see eye-to-eye at times. Be honest..... don't you think some of the predictions and expectations posted here as of late border on ridiculous and extremely difficult for most players, based on past performance, to attain? Don't you think most here are expecting too much from a team with a 2nd year coach that made a ton of mistakes last season and has yet to play Game 1 on the field?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) I honestly don't see why he was banned. He gave us something to talk about the outside world. Most people here were acting as mature as kids. "No you can't join our club because you're different." He brought something different to Soxtalk. OHHHHH NOOOO, cry to the masses. Realize you're dealing with a majority of people here who are Sox fans that act like the Sox have a history like the Yankees. Rational thinking and opposing views obviously are not allowed.

QUOTE(The Bones @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Just a few facts I want to put out there... Ordonez hit 35 or more HRs in 1 of the 7 seasons he was with the Sox. Lee has never hit 35 or more HRs in 1 season. Rowand hit 24 HRs in 140 games last year and led the team in AVG, SLG, and OBP. Where the f*** are you going with this? 35 was just a number I threw out based on the fact that most preseason predictions I see from the eternal optimists on assorted Sox boards have Rowand hitting anywhere between 30-35 HR's. I, like you have stated with stats in the above stated post, don't think that's going to happen. BUt what the hell do I know. I've only been right about most things Sox the past 3 years.

Too bad indeed. I heard a week or two ago that the Cubs were discussing Nen as a possible closer option. No chance of that now .

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) I'm glad that we picked up AJ Pierzynski for the blazing speed he brings to the table. Anyone is better than Ben Davis. But you're gonna argue that AJ is in the same league powerwise as Maggs, CLee, and Thomas? QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) And, I'm sure as hell glad that Iguchi doesn't have any power whatsoever. You know for a fact that Iguchi is gonna be the next Ichiro-type from Japan but with more power? How do you know he isn't gonna be the next Kaz Matsui in his first year with the Sox? QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Oh yeah -- Uribe and Crede, no power there either. Uribe had a career year last season. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he can put up similar numbers to '04. And Crede? You have got to be kidding me. The Sox need a career year out of Joe Crede before he, singlehandedly, can make a dent in anyone's power rankings list. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 19,2005 -> 12:36 PM) Rowand? Yeah, he's a grinder and a slasher, he's a hit it and run-it-out type of guy. Are you saying that Rowand is a power-hitter that can put up more than 35 HR's in a season? Seriously? QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 19,2005 -> 12:36 PM) But hey, with the exception of Dye, Konerko, Pierzynski, Everett, Iguchi, Crede, Uribe, Everett, and Rowand -- our whole lineup up is full of hit-it and run-it-out type of guys. Great assessment, Killa! BTW -- Where've ya been? I guess you didn't believe half of us in saying to give the offseason a chance to get started before you started b****ing. Haven't seen much of you, lately, though. Funny, isn't it... I've been here all along. Thanks for asking. I've been refraining from the pointless drivel the likes that someone such as yourself posts here on a daily basis. "Great assessment" without taking into account Intangible 1 CWSGuy :rolly.

You all need to lay off of the White Sox Kool-Aid. Anytime you have Frank Thomas on the shelf and you've lost a Maggs and a CLee, you're..... more than likely..... going to go down in power rankings. These White Sox fan sites have become eerily similar to Cub fan rantings lately. Haven't you heard? This is the Cubs' year. With the exception of PK and arguably Dye, this line-up is full of hit-it and run-it-out types of guys. The Sox should be down in the power rankings. And lets not write the Indians off before '05 starts. They finished..... what..... 3 games back of the Sox last year? And, I hate to say it, but the Indians should only get better.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Some people are cut from a different cloth thatn the rest of us. There are many people that take chances and risks that most of us wouldn't even consider. Of course, when you stop and think about it, it's those type of people who have made discoveries, innovations and advances throughout the history of man. Let's not compare an "extreme" skier to a Jonas Salk, Louis Pasteur, or Albert Einstein.

QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) That Bin Laden story is entirely an urban legend. But it has been proven that Clinton knew where Bin Laden was. Drones photographed Bin Laden at an Al Queda training camp after the WTC I and embassy bombings and still Clinton did nothing. Clinton knew EXACTLY where he was. Clinton only launched a few cruise missiles over Bin Laden's way after it became clear that the news was gonna report that he lied about sticking his dick in Monica Lewinsky's mouth.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) Yes, yes, I believe that the etc. was intended to refer to the country club criminal contingent. It did. If you don't want to believe that, that's your perogative.

QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Our president was convicted of a DUI. Not a felony
-
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Once again, white collar criminals are amazingly (if not unpredictably) left off the hit list. Is there a big machine somewhere that just pops you guys out? Once you have been parolled and are an ex-felon, why should you not get back your right to participate in the democratic process? 1. The "etc" after the 4 or 5 types of felons I mentioned would include those convicted of white collar crimes. 2. Felons should not be given back the right to elect lawmakers after being convicted of a felony. If you wanna vote, obey the law. It's quite simple actually.
-
QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) Well, Democrats in this board seem to generally agree that all men are created equal - and should be given the right to vote, even if they are an ex-con. Republican in this board seem to generally agree that ex-cons are not equal and would rather deny them the rights that they have given to them as American citizens. They have the right to vote until they commit a felony and are convicted in a court of law. It is generally accepted that when you commit and are convicted of a FELONY, you have given up your right to elect the future law makers of America. Excuse me as a moderate if I don't shed a tear over the rights of burglars, armed robbers, child molesters, drunks that kill people other than themselves driving home from the bar, convicted murderers, gangbangers, etc., to vote. And, quite frankly, I wouldn't want to side myself with a party worried about the rights of felons over the issues concerning law-abiding citizens.
-
QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) Democrats care about all Americans. Republicans only seem to care about the ones who might actually agree with their extremist wingnut agenda. This may be perhaps the most misinformed quote I ever read. EVER
-
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Personally, I could care less if ex-felons are allowed to vote. Once they leave the prison, they are no longer a criminal they are an "ex" criminal. Therefore there right to vote was suspended while they were a criminal, but once they become part of society again, that suspension should be revoked. Ex-felons shouldn't be allowed to vote because elected officials legislate laws and a majority of ex-felons will recidivate.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) That's a bit harsh. Honestly, it's not like this guy was as stupid as some of the extreme advebture types. The guy was killed in an avalanche. He didn't ski off a mountain, he fell 30 feet from a cliff edge and had the misfortune of being under a slab of snow that broke loose. I'm willing to bet that his skiing is what started the avalanche in the first place.

QUOTE(ptatc @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Dibble said "you are just playing up to the Cardinal fans there are no White Sox fans, I know because I played for the Sox, there are no White Sox fans." Too bad Mulder didn't b**** slap his ass. And for the record Rob..... there are plenty of Sox fans..... just no Rob Dibble fans to be seen at USCF ya mope.

Justice. Gotta love those smokers that think the world is their ashtray.

Leave it to a democrat to use "day off" and "ex-felon" in the same sentence It's good to see that the democrats, for once, want to give the working man the day off as opposed to taxing the working man and making him work so that the near-do-wells and the have-nots could have their entire lifetime off.
-
Good. f***ing moron. Anytime one of these "extreme" athletes goes out and does something stupid and gets hurt or killed, they ought to just leave them wherever they go down to rot. These morons usually risk others lives just by doing the dumbs*** that they feel is necessary for them to do. Jerkoff.

Good. The world needs less lawyers and the US definitely needs less BS lawsuits.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) lol only x rated movies i seen is showgirls and strip tease. wait i did see a part of Lord of the G-string on TV last week it was so dumb i turned it off though. Neither of those were X-Rated..... they were rated NC-17. There's a difference.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) A contract between Beltre and Beltran is about right. How many other guys put up that many seasons over .300, 100 rbi, 30 hr? If he returns and puts up those numbers, they received a bargain. If he cannot play, they are protected. That type of logic goes completely against the thought process' of the "Little Reinsy's" on this board.

QUOTE(ihatethecubs @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) i was at the game when he gave up one of the grand slams, i think i remember calling it too....i was so pissed I was at and did the same during a game against Cleveland on 06/23/04. Broussard murdered that meatball.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Yeah, not too long ago Ozzie mentioned him possibly being the 5th starter. How long til stories about his 'bad attitude', or 'poor work ethic' come out?
