  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Speaking of optimism, there are a few people we haven't seen around lately. Cubkilla? I guess we'll have to wait for the first spring training game they lose, I've been here everyday. Reading posts and such. Not replying if I happen to agree with everything said. And I have said, on more than one occasion, that I'm very happy with the job KW has done this offseason. This offseason has eclipsed even my expectations. KW deserves a s***load of credit. And if this season works out, I'll be the first to congratulate KW on a job well done and will be more inclined to chalk up his first couple of season's as GM to inexperience rather than idiocy. But let's not pop the champagne just yet. I'm looking forward to this season for no other reason than it will be exciting to see how this team plays as a unit. No one knows what to expect and that's the reason why I'm thrilled with what KW has done. Everyone knew what to expect from the Sox last year..... 2 weeks of baseball driving, 10+ run scoring blowouts..... followed by 1.5-2 weeks of utter CorpseBall. This year is a huge "?". That's one of the reason's why '05 should be exciting..... hopefully for more than a week or two. An offseason with the number of moves I have seen tells me that the '05 White Sox are going to try something different to win and I will be attending plenty of games this year to show my appreciation. An offseason with the number of moves that the '04 White Sox had showed me that, for '04 atleast, the Sox were content with the status quo and after what happened to end '03 I found that absolutely disgusting.
  2. I love assholes like this. In my line of work, I've dealt with a few jerkoffs that are too chicken s*** to kill themselves cause they are so alone, so they go out and involve an innocent in their suicide. Case in point..... jagoff decides he has nothing more to live for so he decides to WALK across I-57's N/B lanes and is promptly hit by a lady in her 70's who was going home with her daughter and 4 grandchildren. This woman was an emotional wreck when I got there. I told her it wasn't her fault..... that he wasn't supposed to be out there in the first place (walking on an interstate highway is against the law). Didn't matter. This woman will live the rest of her life believing she killed somebody and that it was HER fault. This guy should most definitely be charged with numerous crimes and should be locked up nude in a cell for the rest of his life. Of course, the nudity probably isn't necessary considering he's too chicken s*** to hang himself or put a bullet in his head.
  3. I was hoping you were gonna say their new marketing gimmick was, "It's Time." We all know how well that bit of marketing genius worked out..... JM: "If you come to our park, you better bring your 'A' game."

    Inauguration

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) Just checking to see if you had a point. The only point they have to espouse is that "Bush sucks" but what else is new?
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) I just wonder why these knuckleheads don't use some sort of detonator that they don't have to be attached to? You would think that eventually one of them would look at the boss and realize he is killing his own people. Heck man, strap that damn bomb onto a RC car and let it zoom into the crowd. Because they'll be remembered throughout future generations as martyr's for Islam and will get 70,000 virgins in heaven yada, yada, yada.
  6. QUOTE(OfficerKarkovice @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) From ESPN: Link Very good choice for them in my opinion. I think Romeo Crennel would have been a nice pick as well but I like seeing them getting some young defensive minded guys in there...especially with Nolan having previous ties to the 9ers organization. Here's to hoping they look at trading down a few spots and maybe pick up D Johnson if they plan on switching full time to the 3-4 D. Crennel is rumored to be the next coach of the Browns
  7. QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) ??? how do you know. Just because you create your own scenario in your head and then reason it to yourself as fact. I guarantee if that would have happened it would have been covered as major terrorist attack averted. Well, at least in the real world. In the delusional world of the hard right, the media would have covered it too sympathetically towards the terrorists. I know because those that hate Bush will find any reason to rip on the guy. Nothing he could possibly do will ever be enough or good enough for them. It's not a stretch by any means to assume how Bush's detractors would react if a post-09/11 terrorist attack is averted. They'd immediately begin to pick everything apart..... GUARANTEED! It wouldn't be enough that a terrorist attack was averted. They'd immediately embark on a quest to prove Bush is incompetent. BOOK IT!
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) LMAO!! I got several "hey.. nice comments in the Q&A" in the bar from many people I didn't even know. Most wondering what happened to the "real Steff". I have to say.. this fest was the best one of the 9 that I have attended. We met so many nice people. SoxFest's would always be like this if the team addressed problems from the year before every offseason like this offseason . The '03-'04 offseason was re-goddamn-diculous.
  9. QUOTE(Ishmookie @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) With the positive buzz surrounding the sox team, along with the new seats and fundamentals how much much will attendance increase, decrease or stay the same? If the Sox win, the fans will show up. If they tank, Sox fans will not go simply for the USCF amenities. Cub fans might show up though..... after all..... it's not whether you win or lose, it about what there is to do in and around the park.
  10. I guess it's only a matter of time then before Ozzie ships Frank Thomas out once he returns if this story is correct. I have a hard time believing that this was THE reason CLee was dealt. If it was though, someone should school Ozzie on when retaliation should be dealt out..... like during the SAME GAME..... not a week or two later. And then don't defend Torii's "..... hard, aggressive style of play" if you think it calls for retaliation later. Hard and aggressive is just that..... and always clean. And clean doesn't call for retaliation.
  11. QUOTE(backman @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) it was fun to watch as long as you didnt care about the outcome Yeah. But I could have done without FOX sucking on Vick's dick the entire game. That got a little old. He's good. He can run. He can create big plays on offense. We didn't need to be told that for 4 quarters. One or two possessions would have sufficed. And it's always good to see that jagoff Martz lose. He should consider himself lucky he still has the St. Louis job after wimping out in the NFC Divisional game last season. Playing for the tie when you have 2 timeouts, a 1st or 2nd down, about 30 seconds left on the clock, and your offense is driving in inexcusable. I'd have fired him on the field after losing that game if I owned the Rams.
  12. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) If their kicker hadn't choked at the end of regulation they would have. The steelers are going down next week guaranteed. Yep. NE isn't losing two games in a row to PIT. And Corey Dillon will be playing. I think he was out when PIT beat NE earlier this season.
  13. I was 3-1 this weekend. I'm shocked so many people wrote off NE as an afterthought. NE is the defending SB Champ. IND is..... fun to watch..... most of the time. They were incredibly boring and overmatched yesterday. The NE win didn't surprise me one bit. The fact that they completely and utterly dominated IND in every facet of the game did. I didn't expect a blowout. Peyton Manning very well may end up being this generation's Dan Marino. A whole lot of records but no rings.
  14. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) How many people lost their jobs by letting 9/11 happen? This point is so laughable it borders on ludicrous. Even if Bush and Co. knew every conceivable point to Bin Laden's 09/11 plans before it happened and did arrest those to be involved based on intelligence, you, FlaSoxx, LCR, and a few other like KWF would have jumped all over the Bush Administration for being racist..... for profiling..... for violating the civil rights of the 19 or so "would-be terrorists" based simply on conjecture because..... after all..... they hadn't committed a crime..... yada, yada, yada. Obviously, Bush will never do anything right in your closed-off, unfledgingly partisan'd mind, and the few of you here that constantly harp on him come off as nothing but a bunch of goddamn crybabies. Waa, waa, WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! I'm so sure that if Kerry would have been elected that the change in US government would have been so extreme it would have bordered on monumental. At least that's what you and FlaSoxx would have posted for everyone everyday. At least LCR would post Kerry vitriol. If nothing else, he's consistent in his hate of everything related to the way the US government works.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) You know what people? ... The American people picked the person they thought was the best man for the job of POTUS. Get over it. People? It's only about 3 or 4 people constantly bashing The POTUS no matter what he says or does Yas . You'd be better off :banghead than trying to reply to any of these BUSH IS SATAN INCARNATE threads.
  16. That's cutting edge. No one has ever done that before. I expected so much more if it was Ali G. Some of his skits are downright hilarious. Why would he tap this well?
  17. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) I don't remember MLK giving a "Blacks and Latinos Can Stand the Heat Better" speech.
  18. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Yes because Jesse Jackson never did anything to help the black community apparently. He is. Nobody. The only people Jesse Jackson ever helped to get over on the man was his own family..... namely, two of his sons. JJ extorted an Anheiser-Busch distributorship from AB for his sons in exchange for remaining quiet on AB's past record in relation to the hiring of minorities. JJ is a leach on the ass of the black community and a hypocrite.
  19. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) alright and can agree with that, willie may be good at the number nine, he can really use his speed and slap ability to get on before spod Then glue himself to first after that Batting 9th is the best thing for Harris cause he should see better pitches than what he'd see at lead-off. Same goes for Crede. The further down these two anchors are, the better.
  20. Shut up. You sound like a damn Cub fan. At least proclaim that, "This year is OUR year," before prognosticating WS match-up's involving a team that hasn't won a WS since '17 and hasn't been in a WS since '59.
  21. Not all Cub fans are stupid. There are actually quite a few that do know a thing or two about baseball..... a few are members of my family. And those fans are just as upset this offseason as I was last offseason AND the Cubs have made more moves this offseason than the Sox did last offseason.
  22. I prefer beer over wine and, when I do drink wine, I prefer the classics..... Mad Dog 20/20, T-Bird, Boones, etc.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) I really liked the 2nd but the 3rd one is going to be quite dark and should be absolutely fantastic. If it's as dark as The Empire Strikes Back, it should deliver. From the looks of it, Episode 3 might be as good or better than Empire.
  24. Hopefully he's gonna "close" for the Jays. I'll stay tuned in till the last pitch of every game against the Jays that the Sox are losing, no matter how bad, as long as the spectre of Billy Botch entering the game looms as a possibility.
