I think Maury should write a book. He can make a spin off of "Ball Four", and call his book "Get Foul"! The story of watching the Sox while drunk.
-
A good selection of beer was the only thing that made that game watchable. Watching the Cubs implode made it a little easier too
-
But, I bet if JM ever writes a book on losing KW will be the "ghost" writer.
-
Higginson?????

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that...
CubKilla replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I do know that Foulke was one of KW's most vocal critics. -
Miles isn't the answer though. His presence isn't going to turn this team around.
-
As manager or GM ? I'd rather have him as mgr since he has no GM experience. Isn't Kittle managing the Schaumburg Flyers too? Interesting idea though Molto.
-
Manuel doesn't realize that he has taken this team 360 degrees..... right back to where we've been the last 2 seasons. Good job genius Jerry!!!!!

WSF..... Roman used to change positions on White Sox players like the wind changed directions. Everyone ripped him apart because of it. He then announced to everyone afterwards that KW was his guy and that he would never change his position on our GM. I believe he's doing this to prove a point..... there can be no other reason for him defending this asswipe that has decimated the White Sox team in less than 3 years. And if he can't see it, there's no use in trying to show him. He'll never agree with you because he has a point to make.
-
He's not serious. If he was, we wouldn't have had to put up with the nickle and dime bulls*** that we saw in this past offseason. This team is a joke. KW, GW, JM, and Reinsdorf all need to go.
-
Something..... ANYTHING..... needs to be done and done now. This team is the goddamn laughing stock of baseball. NOT DETROIT! The White Sox. Everyone knew the Tigers, the DRays, the Brewers, et al would suck. Some sportswriters actually picked the White Sox to be a WS contender. Yep..... the White Sox are the laughing stock of MLB.
-
I pretty much had the same reaction..... me and Guido were at a bar drinking a few beers and the Cub fans in the bar thought it was the greatest thing. Karma is a motherf***er because we gave it right back to them when the Cubs lost to the Brew Crew But a f*** up like that from a "professional" leaves one speechless. That ball needs to be caught and definitely not half-assed after one drops it.
-
Not only did the Cubs lose, but they lost their second game to the lowly Brewers AND they gave up 6 runs, 3 in the 8th and 3 in the 9th, during yesterday's loss
-
Getting back to the topic at hand..... even though I want KW, JM, and GW gone..... I'll take a win streak.

Me too. But, IMHO, the Sox marketing sucks. All you have to do is go to a game at USCF when Ichiro comes to town or, in September, when Matsui comes to town and you will see that the Asian market is there and incredibly willing to fork over ticket money if there is a "hometown" player they want to see. But this team needs more Kids Days and Seniors Run the Bases Days

During the party atmosphere Comiskey era, Harry and Jimmy epitomized working class, in-your-face baseball. The partiers all go to Wrigley now, get tanked there, and run out onto USCF during the game and try to pants umps for 15 minutes of fame. I truly believe that the White Sox marketing department is making a huge mistake with promotions that are definitely weighted towards the family. Most family's can only afford to go to one baseball game a year. Why are you marketing towards them? Market yourself towards the casual fan..... the single males and females with disposable income who can afford to take in 5 or 6, hell..... Sox 7 games a year. Have singles nights, ladies nights, promote the Bullpen Sports Bar and tailgates more often..... you hardly hear anything about these amenities available at USCF and in-between fans I know are usually pleasantly surprised when they go with a diehard Sox fan trying to sell his team. Could you imagine how many single males would be drawn to the ballpark on a Friday night during a "Daisy Duke" night..... where women dressed like Daisy Duke get in for free? Kid's Days, Seniors (?????) RTB's days and similar promotions are weighted entirely too heavily towards the fan that only goes to one baseball game a year.

Could have had him in the draft if I remember correctly. We took Daellero before Berkman went.

Good post Critic. Most of this "love affair" is media driven without the actual numbers. Dusty and Dustin all the way baby :puke. But I don't think anyone really expected the Sox to be this bad and the Cubs, a team that lost 90+ games in 2002 with only 3 real additions during the offseason of Grudzielanik, Karros, and Remlinger, to pay off like they have. Borowski isn't a closer and it's only a matter of time before him or Alfonsixa start blowing games. I am almost positive that, come seasons end, the Sox will have a better record than the sCrUBS. Was the NL Rookie of the Month award created for the Cubs? I've never heard of a Rookie of the Month award but Chop Suey won it for the month of April

Me and you talked about this very same thing a few months back Baggs..... about how Marte should be the Sox everyday closer after last season's Foulke fiasco. But JM..... er, KW?????..... saw fit to closer-by-committee. With Ring in the minors and Marte available to close games this year, KW saw fit to pretty much trade Foulke for Botch, THEN, sign him to a $10,000,000 contract before he serves up meatball #1. With Marte and Ring in the wings, signing Botch to a big, multi-year contract was one of the dumbest things this team could have done and I, along with Baggs and HSC if I remember correctly, didn't like this deal from Day 1. Like it was with Todd Ritchie, I've been vindicated.
-
Because KW acquired Botch to close..... and Marte to be the set-up man. Not a big surprise when you read what HSC said about KW telling JM what to do via cell phone.
-
ESPN loves ShamME though..... just listen to the ass-kissing if you have the 2002 HR Derby on video :puke
-
Considering the AL and NL are now playing for homefield advantage in the WS, I think the manager should pick the starting line-ups and back-ups AND they should dump the one representative from every team rule. Not every team has an AllStar.

Dog Day is stupid. Need proof? It draws Ronnie Woo-Woo to USCF. That's enough for me to cancel it. I'd do the sleepover if they let you swing at a few balls or play catch. I heard they don't allow you too. That would be a real drawing point for me. The way the Sox are playing right now, do they have to promote a "Guaranteed Loss Night?"
-
Me too..... as a matter of fact, I told HSC last night that no one from WSI was lurking here since it wasn't posted in the "take it for what it's worth" style that I've seen there. I wake up this morning and the rest is history.
