Basically, without getting into the actual numbers (because I don't know them), say Zito's contract is configured like this: First year: 650,000 Second year: 875,000 Third Year: 3 million Fourth Year: 5 million (w/a CY Young bonus of 1 million) KW offered Buehrle this: First year: 650,000 Second year: 825,000 No provision for a third or fourth year or a bonus of any kind during either year..... and KW says he offered MB a "Zito-esque" contract. True..... he did for years one and two but nothing for the longterm. KW saying he offered MB Zito money is a half truth and is making MB look like a greedy prick when, in actuality, he's not.

If we are successful, he will most definitely get it from me. And even though I am a KW basher, I recognize when he makes good moves. All of the moves this offseason that you mentioned were good moves IMO. KW hasn't given me much to rip on this offseason like offseasons past and, as a KW basher, I'm pissed . I think most KW bashers here know that this team in ST now is the better than the team we had in 2002.

Somebody's going to have to take the blame. KW is the easy target Anytime you can get a front-line starter like Bartolo Colon without giving up any key players, you do it. If Bartolo flops for some reason (only injury could cause that, IMO), then that's Kenny Williams' fault? That's ridiculous. I agree with you Clu. The point I was trying to make is that if Bartolo sucks, Bartolo should be the one who gets the blame..... not KW. But how many people have you heard blame Todd Ritchie for sucking ass last year? Not many. It was a shoulder thing, or it was Nardi, or he never threw his curve is what most posters here say in regards to Ritchie sucking donkey dong last season never really blaming TODD RITCHIE for constantly being lit up like a candlestick. After all, KW wasn't the one going out to the mound every 5 days. However, when a pitcher is about as effective as a BP pitcher and you give up 3 arms to get him, inevitably KW has to shoulder some of the blame. Sox fans know getting Bartolo was a great move..... if only for one year. God forbid Colon sucks this season, I think most Sox fans know that KW doesn't deserve any blame on this one. When you get a chance to pick up a 20-game winner for practically nothing, you do it.

All the heat he gets is deserved though for the way he's GM'ed this team with the exception of this offseason..... and that's also debatable (see; Mark Buehrle). He has 3 times the bad moves as he does the good ones. And let's not forget how he is reportedly handling the whole Mark Buehrle situation. Signing Buehrle to a Zito-type deal should be KW's priority. Supposedly lying the the fans telling us he offered MB a "Zito-esque" contract that MB refused, when, in actuality, he offered MB the hundred thousand part in Zito's contract and not the million part is bulls***. KW still has much more to prove to show he is a competant GM.

Whether or not you think K Wells and/or J Fogg are ever going to become Cy Young award winners, KW deserves every bit of the blame he gets for what was easily the worst trade of the 2001-2002 offseason. I think most Sox fans see even one year of Bartolo as better than not having him at all..... considering we got him so cheap for this year at least.

We thought it was complete bulls*** and more fodder for assholes like Moronotti..... who wrote just what we thought the next day about the area surrounding the ballpark and the "classless" Sox fans that attend the games. This can be said for every season since '59 with the exceptions of '83, '93, '94 (before the strike), and '00..... at least during my lifetime. Your reasoning here makes no sense. You are, in effect, saying that we should have "white-flagged" every season with the exception of those previously mentioned. After all, there was no chance that we'd be able to make it to the WS those other years. 162 baseball games a year are played by each team in baseball because nothing is certain. Anything can happen. The "WFT" isn't viewed as a sad day for MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL by sportswriters for nothing. The White Sox would have been better off just forfeiting the remaining games in '97 instead of s***ting on the fans (many of which still haven't returned to Comiskey/USCF) and the players left remaining on the team.

That's kind of debatable. At the rate the Revolutionary War was going and the inability of the British to overwhelmingly defeat the Americans there is a school of thought that suggests that the British would have just given up after the war became too costly and time consuming. It did help though that the sCrUBS did what they do best that year and choked down the stretch . But your point is well taken Baggs. Seems like I can always count on you to back me up when I am away.

They talked to a club manager on CNN Friday morning and he said that no one from the band or representing the band told them that they were going to be using pyro. According to this guy, as soon as they saw the pyro start, they ran to get fire extinguishers but, by the time they returned, the wall behind the band was fully engulfed. The media footage from the TV station that was inside the club when the fire started was interesting. The media was there to do a story, of all things, on nightclub safety. What I found interesting on this video was that when the patrons turned to leave after the fire started, this idiot with his big, bulky, TV camera in the middle of the hallway leading to the exit that everyone ran to was facing towards the fire trying to get the shot. As he was leaving, it appeared that he was literally "swept up" in a wave of people. I wonder if some of the dead could have been alive today if it weren't for this media ass trying to get his Pulitzer shot. Lots of people+fire= Turn and leave. Not saying that all of the dead could have been saved, but, when looking at the footage, this asshole definitely didn't help things.

My thoughts exactly(UNLESS it is a player like Lofton that we are trading and we would be getting two pretty good arms in return). It wouldn't hurt getting a good defensive catcher that is coming out of college....give him 2-3 years, and he would be able to be up. Also in that round we could be getting a very, very good player with raw talent. And every once in a while, you'll get lucky and get a 38th round draft pick and he turns out to be your ace. Damn! Why weren't you guys here when that trade was made? Everyone ripped on me saying that we'd have gotten nothing for Ray if we didn't trade him. I was saying we'd be better off with the pick instead of a 6.+ ERA pitcher in Adkins.
