  1. I wonder what the Sox will do in this situation. Too bad he wasn't suspended like a week later, they wouldn't have to waste an option on Narvaez or Smith (my guess is Smith will be DFA'd b/c I think he is out of options, orrr they run with 3 catchers until Sept. call-ups and send down a reliever). Can they DFA Castillo, or would they? Yeah I agree with this. My guess is there will be a few boos thrown in there but not many people will really care. I also hope he is not on the team next year. Narvaez will be just fine as the primary catcher. Not sure what Smith's contract situation looks like but he would be fine starting off the season as the back-up until they think Zavala is ready for the call. No need for Castillo IMO.
  2. The real question is, can he defend like Adam Engel????? If not I say he's a bust.
  3. Just curious as to what everyone thinks the reaction of the fans will be when Castillo comes back. Will he be booed, cheered, or will there be indifference?
  4. I guess high pressured situations is a relative term. I don't define it as just being post-season.
  5. Did you ever watch Sale's starts? Look, I understand he is probably the best overall pitcher in the AL. But, he hasn't proven he can pitch in high pressure situations. When he pitched last off-season for Boston, he didn't whine and complain but he sure wasn't effective. Even during this year's all star game he was knocked around a bit in the 1st inning. He did the same thing with us in high pressure situations. Maybe I'm being too harsh but I remember him playing a big role in a lot of the drama and inefficiency that went on in that Sox clubhouse, esp. during the whole LaRoche debacle and NTM the jerseys...talking about KW, among other things. No matter how you twist it to make it justifiable, That to me is as unattractive as a player can get. Act like a professional.
  6. Or like whenever he would pout and throw a hissy fit when he would give up a few hits late in the game, get all mad, then all of a sudden he's throwing batting practice. Wasn't just in the clubhouse. Was on the field too. I don't care if he is a HOF type pitcher. What good is a pitcher to your staff anyway if he (esp your ace) can't win in high leverage situations?
  7. No. I wanted nothing to do with Sale. Maybe he's changed, but he was a big ass baby when he was with the Sox. No thanks, don't care who you are, but if you're gonna cry every time you dont get your way, you can leave. The Q trade was a million times more disappointed than the Sale was at the time it happened (because of who Q was).
  8. Methinks it's time to call up Kopech and move Covey
  9. Palka almost had that one...
  10. Hey everyone, I am attending Saturdays game. Does anyone know where I might find information on when the ceremonies will start and what they will entail?
  11. I'm so happy we have Kopech and Cease waiting in the wings.
  12. If you go on Friday, it will take you 2 hours to get to the park driving. Saturday, depending on construction, little over an hour.
  13. The red line to the park is about 10 minutes. You are pretty accurate on the other numbers though.
  14. Its kind of a toss up. Better pitching matchup Friday and fireworks show, but Saturday is an earlier game but a worse pitching matchup, however it's Thome Day (reason I am going). Bauer will probably shut out the Sox. Hoping Eloy and Kopech are up by then, but that's probably wishful thinking.
  15. It's right downtown. You will be fine.
  16. Quonset is excellent. A must-have in Waukegan, especially their sausage pizza. Mike's pizza is my personal favorite in Waukegan. A little hole-in-the-wall pizza joint, only take-out (wouldn't have them deliver), service isn't always the greatest, but man do they know how to make a thin crust pizza.
  17. I grew up in Waukegan going to Sox games as a kid, and I will vouch for basically what everyone was saying. Take the Metra to Ogilvie (which is the last stop). I'm sure your son knows this, but there is a train station in both North Chicago and Waukegan. You'll want to purchase the weekend pass if you go on Saturday, as that is $10 a person and unlimited rides (which basically pays for you both ways). You will need cash. It is a bit of a walk to get to the red line, but it's not bad. About 15 minutes. What you do is once you get to Ogilvie, take the escalators down, then go out of the building through the exit by the Subway restaurant (which is behind the escalators I believe). That will take you out to Washington Street. Turn right onto Washington and walk all the way down to State. State street is where the closest Red Line Subway ("L") is. Once you get on the train, pay Attention to the actual Red Line stop, because the name of the stop isn't "State St." stop, it's "Lake" I believe. That way you remember which one to get off at when you come back. It will make sense once you get on the train. Take the Red Line to "Sox 35th" which is toward 95th/Dan Ryan. That will dump you right out at the park. When you're finished you just back track to Ogilvie. Here is the link to the Metra Schedule https://metrarail.com/maps-schedules/train-lines/UP-N The Red Line comes and goes like every 10 minutes. That one you can use your credit/debit card for. Or cash if you prefer. That's what I did all the time as a kid with my dad, and in fact I am doing it again this weekend on Saturday! Although I am getting on at Lake Forest. Maybe our paths will cross You can also just Uber or Lyft over to the park from Ogilvie like the other poster said. Probably not too much more expensive than the trains, maybe even less so, but less of an adventure Hope this helps. Have fun!!
  18. They still scored 7 runs last night, would've been 10 if not for Engel.
  19. ReyLo dominating an elite lineup. I can't wait to see the fire he brings both competitively and emotionally when this team is contending for the postseason/championship.
  20. Holy...Engel. He literally has saved 4 runs in 2 nights with 2 outstanding catches.
  21. Moncada...bro...SWING THE BAT. What else could he possibly be looking for? Literally right down the middle and had like no movement.
  22. The question is...is Engel on the team next year? No one at center really waiting in the wings, and Leury is always out half the season to bank on him. Maybe they give Cordell a shot. Too bad they don't have designated fielders.....
  23. That's kind of what I'm thinking will happen. Getz said very soon... Sometimes I wish these people would say nothing at all.
  24. I understand that. That's basically what everyone else is saying just in a different way. And I agree. Call him up this week or don't at all. Kind of aggravated they called up LaMarre and he's playing LEFT FIELD tonight. But... It seems like if he is called up in, idk, 3 weeks, everyone is going to be angry and beside themselves. Even if I wouldn't necessarily agree with it, I would wholeheartedly enjoy the short moments I get to see him play in Chicago this year.
