  1. Crain for a PTBNL. De Aza and Lindstrom will be traded. Peavy and Rios will not be traded because the other GM's will not meet Hahn's demands. Hahn will stand firm showing the league that he is not a push over and doesn't have to move salary. Soxtalk will be disappointed and cranky.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) FutureSox now has a page on the site with a list of the best prospect/minor league site we could find for each of the 30 MLB teams. Direct link here, or click the button at the top of the main futuresox.com page. Also this info is pinned in the FS forum for now. Thought it may come in handy during the silly season. Nice! Thanks! I have already had to google some of the players you guys have been bringing up for trades. I will use this from now on.
  3. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) If money is an issue with STL, we should pay Peavy's contract and take in more talent. I know it would never happen but to me it is entirely practical. We have more money than we will spend why don't we use it to create young talent. Ultimately, I think Jaker goes to Boston but I think the FO should do everything in their power to have Matt Adams as our OD first baseman next year. Whatever the cost. I agree! With the money saved if they trade Jake, they can not manipulate the draft due to the new rules. They can not throw unlimited cash at international players. There is always the risk that the free agents on the market will not want to play for the Sox or be so over priced that the Sox don't feel comfortable signing the player. What they can do is continue to pay Jake and some cash strapped team going for it all could send a load of quality prospects. I think that is the best way to use money to rebuild the Sox quickly.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 10:26 PM) Where's bucket? I want to know if there is any new information out there. I think the Sox could set up a 900 number and when you call it, you get a tidbit of inside information from Rich Hahn. New revenue! Again, thanks Bucket.
  5. I think they experiment with Beckham there. I really hope the Sox send a lot of cash with the trade and bring back premium prospects. Nobody will give up premium talent for a rental, but they may for a player under contract for several plus the money to pay him. Go for it Pirates!
  6. Jakemeister will be fired up! By the 3rd pitch he will probably be saying "GOSH BLESS IT! GOSH BLESS IT!" Kepp goes 3-4 with his socks pulled up high old school and Konerko gets his first HR. 5-3 Sox
  7. Thank you! This is what I like about the off season! A rumor, (Sox seeking left handed bat), then creative scenarios that keep me thinking about the potentially bright future of the Sox. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) I love trade speculation. Floyd & Viciedo to Orioles for Markakis and Arietta. Flip Arietta to WAS for Renden. Ramirez to AZ, Upton & Hector Santiago to TX, Profar to CHW. Beckham to Seattle for Ackley. Sign Soriano 2/$24m. Strengthen bullpen. Get Younger. Get Left Handed. CF De Aza (L) LF Markakis (L) RF Rios ® DH Konerko ® 1B Dunn (L) 2B Ackley (S) CA Flowers ® 3B Renden ® SS Profar (S) SP Peavy SP Danks SP Sale SP Quintana SP Castro/Molina/Free Agent CL Soriano RP Thornton RP Jones RP Crain RP Reed RP Veal RP Omogrosso I could go on and on.
  8. All I want for Christmas is a good juicy trade rumor. I don't care if it is real or not. Anything plausible that has a uncertain source like Gavin's cousin's husband or Rich Hahn's cable guy. Anything for Soxtalk to discuss and start thinking about even if we all know it only has a small chance of happening. I miss KW already. Something big was always possible at any time with KW so the Sox could always be the mystery team in all of the rumors. Besides, this would be a good time to notice my sig.
  9. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) Trading Floyd defeats the main purpose of getting Liriano which is the much needed resting of Sale/Peavy/Quintana. All might have issues with stamina and as we saw last start with Sale possibly a dead arm period as they adjust to career highs in innings pitched or many innings pitched after an injury with Peavy. Remember we have plans for the post season which means those guys will have to pitch even more. Trading Floyd would be the start of getting another pitcher not just to move Floyd. If KW has an opportunity to get a pitcher like King Felix or Shields then moving Floyd would give him some payroll room and a prospect or two to use in the trade. I would move Viciedo for Hernandez if I had to. Sox could get another left fielder much easier than a top of the line starter. Sale Peavy "King" Felix Liriano New Q Humber to rest those guys Next year Danks Sale New Q "King" Felix Peavy or Liriano whoever the Sox can sign
  10. I would keep them on same rest and have Sale or whoever needs rest to completely skip a start for a nice 9-10 day rest. We are going to need them in October. Man it felt great to say that and not have it in green!!!
  11. Kenny is the most exciting GM in baseball. He has pretty much told us that he is DONE when he said his phone was out of minutes. Therefore, Floyd will be traded and the Sox bring in Shields or Felix Hernandez. Hell why not both! KW is on a roll! There is NO WAY he is done.
  12. I would absolutely love getting MB56 back. I get goose bumps thinking about his return to the Cell in the race to the playoffs. That 18.5 million salary would be excessive for the last 2 years of his contract, but that means the Sox should be able to get him without giving up anyone from this years team or too much damage from the farm.
  13. Cool idea for a blog! I had always thought buying tickets from someone at the gate was scalping. Is that only if you pay above face value? I don't have any objections at all to getting deals on tickets. I'm just concerned that the blog may somehow get the author into trouble. Hope you save that site for your own memories. Twenty years from now it will be pretty nostalgic to read it.
  14. 100 votes in today. Paully deserves it. Last day! Don't stop now boys!
  15. I love it! Konerko can be Captain America! Go First Place SOX!!!
  16. Reed should be closer as of right now. One of the most frustrating things about 2011 and the old regime was stubbornly sticking with something that obviously was not working. It leads to too many early season losses, digs the team a hole in the standings and kills early season fan excitement. I like that Ventura is not volatile and sticks behind his players, but adjustments need to be made more quickly after last year's disaster of a season. Ventura is going to have to hurt a few player's feelings for the good of the team. This team is off to too good of a start to piss away wins.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 08:06 AM) I love seeing Dunn take the inside pitch and then go to Left with the pitch on the outer black. It makes his plate coverage so much more complete. I love it too! The double to left was just as encouraging to me as the homeruns. If he can do that, then teams can not put the shift on him. Man I really hope Adam Dunn is fixed for good.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 06:55 AM) Starting a thread to call people idiots. Seems pretty cool, right mods? I don't think the point of the thread was to point out idiots. It was to point out that Adam Dunn is playing well and that is such a HUGE deal for the Sox that perhaps it should be stickied. Maybe booing him right now would not be a smart thing to do for Sox fans. It has always been my opinion that the only time it may be helpful to boo the home team would be for lack of effort. Booing Adam Dunn will NOT make him go away and it will NOT make him play better. However, it may just make him put too much pressure on himself and make the Sox more likely to lose. I have always been proud of how knowledgeable our fans are. I am embarrassed when I hear the fans boo Adam in April with 3 years left on his contract. In my opinion that is the opposite of smart. Go Adam Dunn!!! If he does his career averages, the Sox will be contenders!
  19. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) Love the screwball! Thanks man!
  20. Long drive for me, but I have decided to see what kind of 7 game plan I can make happen. This year will be much more fun than last year. The problem with last year is that they were expected to be good and they were so disappointing. This year, nobody except the Sox players expect them to be good and they will probably have a great year. Even if the Sox have the same exact record as last year, it will be more fun for me to watch because they will have some good young players to keep an eye on. Besides, I love going to games. When I walk in and smell the grilled onions and when I see the first glimpse of the green grass, to me, it's a wonderful feeling.
  21. I think people who are Sox fans should lay off because he isn't going anywhere and booing will not help him figure it out. Just from a selfish standpoint, the Sox may be better if fans give him a clean slate for a new year just like RV plans to do. If there was something private going on that contributed to the issues last year, then all the more reason to treat him with human compassion.
  22. Ozzie. This team will turn it around and the difference will be obvious.
  23. I think an athlete who has tens of millions and has a team that is counting on him, I expect him to sprint uphill like Walter Payton. I wish he had actually done something like this: I hired a dietitian and a personal trainer to really push the envelope. I really decided to rededicate myself to the game I love. I also hired a right handed and a left handed pitcher to pitch batting practice to me 6 days a week. I'm not going to tell you how I plan to bounce back, I plan to show everyone. I have all of the money I need now, I just want to experience a World Series victory. I no longer take anything for granted.
