This has officially destroyed today's productivity. Let's get him today. Work will be too busy tomorrow. Random speculation for the contract pool Sox will get him. 4 years 93 million with mutual options that can vest for years 5 (25 mil) and 6 (27 mil). Effectively 6 years 144 million if he plays like a stud. It happens today. Wednesday. In time for people to listen to the radio on the commute home and see it on the news all evening.

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) raBBit's latest tweet: "Seeing lots of talk about him, received multiple reports that the #WhiteSox could sign Dexter Fowler in the near future." Fowlertalk!

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) The people who like Farmer say they like his sarcasm and joking around but nobody mentions how he actually calls a game. It's horrible. He doesn't describe plays well at all. And his voice isn't made for play by play. Time to move on. Which is why him and Rooney were so good.

This seems like a really good hire and I'm looking forward to the games. He sounds like a pro and he is a Sox fan. Since I grew up on "Holy Cow" and "You Can Put it on the Board YES!!", I am kind of hoping he comes up with a catchy home run call. He sounds great and he is one of us. I love Hawk. I feel like I have been watching games with him. Mr. Benetti has big shoes to fill. Too bad there couldn't be a 3 man booth somehow or just move Hawk to color. It will seem weird having Jason only do half of the games. I want Farmer moved to color. Farmer is awesome, but I have one big criticism of his play by play style. If I am working in the garage or driving down the highway distracted, sometimes I miss calls. His voice doesn't change enough when something actually happens. I want an increase in volume or inflection in his voice that can get my attention. His big calls are fine LIGHT EM UP!, but sometimes I will find out that there are runners on 1st and 3rd and have no idea how they got there. I wonder how DJ would do as play by play. Congratulations Mr. Benetti. We need a nickname for him. Hawk can come up with something if Soxtalk doesn't.

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) He's a less talented more Cubfanish version of Chris Rongey off the Dan Bernstein broadcast tree. Damn. I hope he is better than that description. That rips him in a bunch of different ways. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) Desmond at SS is a nightmare. Royce Clayton at SS was a nightmare. Desmond is no Royce Clayton.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 10:09 AM) Chuck GarfienVerified account @ChuckGarfien A dream scenario for White Sox: Sign Cespedes to backloaded contract, sign Desmond to 1-yr deal til Tim Anderson is ready. Saladino utility. I hope that is Mr. Reinsdorf's dream scenario as well. I would be pumped if that happened.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:46 AM) https://twitter.com/MeridianoTV/status/682583109985038337 Some tweets saying Carlos Sanchez will not be with his winter league team's postseason. Can't quite tell if the White Sox pulled the plug, or what...looks like they want him to leave so he can work on SS more before spring training. https://twitter.com/Vboccone/status/682586292656467969 My first thought was that the Sox were working on a trade involving Sanchez and don't want him getting hurt. Seems odd to not let him finish the postseason.

Gordon and Cespedes are primarily left fielders. Is the plan to use Melky in right or do you think there will be another move if the Sox sign Gordon/Cespedes?

Most hated player in White Sox history

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) Haha open your heart man, you'll feel better. That man IS White Sox Baseball. Calling White Sox games gives that man no greater pleasure, and since he gave so much to us throughout his better decades, let's just support our godfather and return the kindness in his later years. Plus he's wayyyy better when we are good! HELL YES!!! Dad Gummit! I love Hawk!

I feel less angry about a player that does PEDs in the minor leagues trying to make it to the majors than a major league player trying to get a big contract. The player is younger and people make mistakes when they are young. That is why Flowers and Q do not bother me as much as ARod, Manny Ramirez, or even Melky. I am very proud of the Chicago White Sox stance on steroids over the years. I am proud to be a fan of Frank Thomas. I have always admired the way KW seemed to go after clean players. Maybe there is a clause in Melky's contract that addresses PEDS. I will root for Melky unless he does PEDS again. I will not let that ruin this great off season.

QUOTE (thigpen89 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 07:24 AM) Hey everyone, I'm new here (my first post) but I've been reading the forum for a few weeks now since I made the jump from the White Sox official message board. I just moved to Houston so I'll be catching all three games at the end of May. I can't wait to take my new son to his first Sox games! Love a lot of the moves we made! Welcome to Soxtalk!

WOW! Nice morning surprise! Buy your tickets now! Maybe that will give them enough money to keep Hahn in the zone! Wish I lived closer, but I will need to make the drive to the ballpark a few extra times to reward an off season like this one. Thanks Mr. Reisdorf, Rick Hahn, and I am sure Kenny Williams. TWO great off seasons in a row IMO. That is a lot of money for Melky, but he sure makes the line up look better. Anybody know anything about Melky's clubhouse effect?

Help - MLB TV Subscription Cancellation
103 mph screwball replied to Joxer_Daly's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Couldn't you also contest the credit card charge if MLB customer service is not helpful? Does anyone know if MLB TV still has condensed games? -
Everybody who plays with Dunn will know how he was treated at Soxfest. I'm sure that will help with free agent signings. I would expect humans to be humane to other humans even if they are bad ball players. I think it is a meat head move to treat a player badly at a fan convention. I guess I expected Sox fans to be smarter than that. It is one thing for a for a drunk fan to boo from the stands after a strike out. I boo a guy out of uniform... classless. I listened to Dunn being interviewed by Levine on a 670 score podcast. Dunn sounded depressed to me.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 25, 2014 -> 02:08 PM) (In front of Dunn) "It's so discouraging to see Dunn back." (All fans cheer) Wow. I have wanted Dunn to get traded. But that is uncalled for. Sometimes fandom can go to far and people forget these are human beings.

Very Nice! Thank you for the sweet banner!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 08:24 PM) Abreu could do that and still have this be an under .500 team. Not if Avi and Spanky are hitting .300 as well along with Dunnerko with 40 bombs at DH. Playoffs Baby!!!!

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Well, let me elaborate a bit. I made the trip with my oldest daughter who's like 31. We drove down the coast from Seattle to Los Angeles. That in itself was a blast. We took our time and stopped and walked on beaches and saw lighthouses and what not. Took our time again through the Big Sur and walked around amongst the giant Sequioas. Then we spent an afternoon in San Francisco. Being the old hippie type I had to see the Haight Ashbury area. We spent a little time at Malibu, drove through LA and went to Joshua Tree National Park, where we spent the day. I loved that area! Then, it was finally off to Arizona where I had never been before. I had never even seen a f***ing cactus. We stayed at a Best Western where we had a kitchen and we lived there for a month. It was better than having to eat out every day which would have cost a bundle. Basically we just went to the ballgames every day which I'm sorry I thought it was a blast. I've always thought spring training would be great if only to see the prospects that you otherwise mostly just read about. Plus, you're seeing your favorite team in a small ballpark setting. It's like seeing the Rolling Stones in a small club. My daughter got a ton of autographs and had her picture taken with some of her favorite players. To top it off, we're doing this while the rest of our family is still dealing with cold and snow (we came home unbelievably tan). A couple of days we went hiking in the mountain area which was a lot of fun and remember, all this with my daughter....it was father/daughter time. After spring training, we went to see as I said the Grand Canyon which neither of us had ever seen and also went to the Meteor Crater, El Morro National Monument, Petroglyph N'tl Mon., the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest, Zion, Bryce Canyon and the Arches. We hiked a lot at most of these places and really had a lot of fun. Then it was up to the Salt Lake area where we stayed for several days with one of my sons who I hadn't seen in about a year and if we hadn't had enough baseball we went to a AAA game in Salt Lake. Finally it was back to Seattle. By the time we got home, we had been gone nearly two months. So it was probably the best TWO months of my life. I wish I could afford to do it every year. Sounds freaking awesome to me! That's the kind of stuff I do if I ever win the lottery.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 08:35 AM) Thank you for this post. What's it like to time traveling from two weeks ago? Well, in his defense, this is becoming one of the largest topics I can remember. I hope it triples in the next 24 hours after a successful Tanaka signing. Uh never mind

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 02:11 AM) More meaningless speculation here... But really we all should be hoping NOT to hear anything. If the Sox get their man, my thought is that they'd like to keep a tight wrap on things and blow it out of the bag exactly at 4pm Friday when opening Soxfest. Boobes. Or we could have a White Sox Wednesday. I would expect it this afternoon so that they can talk about it on the radio on the drive home. There would then be time for big features on all the evening news shows. We can talk about it on the radio all day tomorrow and have the newspaper headlines. By the time Soxfest comes everyone is pumped and Tanaka is here as a surprise guest!!!! THAT would be Kenny Williams' ideal timing.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) Hahn on Tanaka from earlier on sports talk live in case anyone missed it. http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/hahn-t...nt-end-pitching Hahn on off-season including questions about Tanaka on sports net central http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/hahn-w...re-not-done-yet Thanks for the links. I do not know if we will get him or not. After watching these videos, I do not believe Hahn thinks we are out of it.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 05:48 PM) Tell ya what...if you're willing to spend 5 hours in the car to go to the Grand Canyon (which actually bores me to tears...unless you plan on hiking down into it which is great)...you might as well spend another hour and just head west to San Diego. In my opinion you're better off. Sea World and the Zoo...not to mention a ton of great restaurants...and THE BEACH!!!! They've had ridiculously nice weather out there the entire fall/winter. It's still 75º out there (which is a summer temp). Is the coast that close? I will have to check that out. Thanks for the suggestion! Thank you too rowand's rowdies!
