Royals vs Sox Sunday Matinee...1:10 pm CST First Pitch
This was a key game against KC even though it is early in the season. KC has now gained confidence against the Sox bullpen and our 50 Million dollar man down under. Brutal, Juice.

Royals vs Sox Sunday Matinee...1:10 pm CST First Pitch
You can't score many runs with a line-up that includes a struggling Moncada, then Mendick, Madrigal, Leury and Collins. But you have to be able to close out a game like this if you are making thousands of dollars for every pitch .

Should Eaton bunt and give up an out? I say no.

I did not like the Liam Hendricks signing . I thought the Sox had a few guys who could Close and that 55 Million could be applied to other needs. Hindsight is 20/20. Here is hoping I was wrong and he becomes dominant. He isn't right now. Kopech is.

Mercedes' walks (especially the last one) were all great at-bats given that pitchers are trying everything outside the strike zone to get swings from him.

Old Sox Games on Youtube
Please try to refrain from personal attack. Interesting that you decided to make it personal. I won't bite but I will note that you appear to have a bone to pick. Factoid? Here is one about your Capone photo. Capone was sitting on the Cubs side of that White Sox Cubs game because his son "Sonny" was a Cub fan and was pictured getting an autograph from one of his Cub idols, Gabby Hartnett. So was John Dillinger. LOL.

Al Capone....such a pleasant thought. Harry Caray was a drunken sot...a real jackass. He drank Bud during games, slurred his words, and promoted excessive drinking. He was part of the circus that the Veecks thought they needed to make money. When Harry went to the Cubs he was perhaps slightly more sober during day games and probably had more restrictive guidelines than he did from Bill Veeck Sr. and Jr. What a stroke. Oh yea. LaRussa had two DUIs.

The Yermin-Vaughn-Abreu Conundrum
Disagree.

The Yermin-Vaughn-Abreu Conundrum
That was in a home opener?

The Yermin-Vaughn-Abreu Conundrum
485 feet. That's not a fluke. That is not small sample size. That is not something an average major league hitter can do, even when he has a historically good week. And to do it in a Home Opener? That's clutch hitting for the team, for the fans and for the owner - one of those baseball memories that will stay with Sox fans for a long time.

What if Yermin Mercedes keeps hitting?
Vaughn should never be in the outfield.....ever. His sole focus should be on hitting. Don't distract him...at all. He is under enough pressure as a rookie trying to stay on the Major league roster. Let him DH every other game so that he has a chance to prove that he can hit better than Mercedes. If he can't, the Sox surely do not need his glove in the outfield.

Jack Brickhouse was the voice of the White Sox in the early 60's. Vince Lloyd did Lead-off man. People respected the "Democrat" President back then. (Pres. Obama, a White Sox fan, was smart enough to stay away and avoid the haters and boo birds) LBJ, HHH , Dirksen, Dean Rusk and others in the stands. Jungle Jim Rivera catches the first pitch from JFK and gets it autographed. Jack Brickhouse announces White Sox Opening Day at Washington in 1961.

Contract extension for Yermin?
Age is much less of a factor for a DH. Nelson Cruz hit bombs into his late 30's. Mercedes Benz have been known to last longer than American made vehicles.

The Yermin-Vaughn-Abreu Conundrum
Yermin: Something that looks like it is too good to be true probably isn't. Is that the case with what we are seeing from Yermin? Has Yermin ever hit baseballs 485 feet and pounded out hits at a .500 clip before...at any level? If so, how did he fly under the radar of mlb scouts? If Yermin can hit anything like he has, he is the Sox DH, at least for this season. Vaughn: It's too early to tell if he will be all he was cracked up to be. He has power, but can he also hit for a decent average against major league pitching? Will he make the adjustments necessary after he gets scouted and pitchers try to exploit any holes in his swing? Defensively, he can handle 1B but that is it. Not sure there will be a place for him on the roster if things continue so positively for Yerminator and Collins. Vaughn would have to do what those two guys did to get regular playing time - prove he deserves it. Left field : Whatever and whoever until Engel returns. I am holding out some hope that Eloy makes it back before the end of the season. That would be an incredible boost to the team. Madrigal: I think he has not fully recovered from Left shoulder surgery. Ptac would know better as a pro trainer about how long it takes to build back muscle after that operation and whether muscle memory can be impacted. I think he will work out if the Sox have patience with him .

Royals vs Sox 5:20pm Home Opener GT
It is a guy out here in the suburbs who was running for Mayor, but will remain nameless.

I love that a certain candidate lost his election. So what? It has nothing to do with baseball.

I guess a few placed laugh emoticons on that. Tell me why. Have some balls.

Vaughn was on the roster because the Sox needed to try to replace some of Eloys power and hitting. If Mercedes keeps hitting and Vaughn struggles, or if Engel hits when he returns, then we may see Vaughn gawn until September.

LaRussa needs to keep Vaughn out of LF if he can, and he knows that.

Here we go again. If this game has to be delayed more than 2 hours, maybe call the thing.

Maybe you should have been a teacher. They usually get off around 3 as I recall. I have a lot of friends who were teachers and early retired at 55. Some moved to Florida and AZ but the ones who still live here in the Chicago area are always available, it seems, to attend games.
