It might have been a terrible idea, but it was my idea, based on the information I had (watching him run on videos, Venable remarking that he was running at 85% a while back, running corners, realizing that he was hitting in the cage and on the Trajekt (sp) for a few weeks. Consider the huge impact Murakami could have had before the All Star break, including the 4 games series at CLE. Yes, they considered the risk of re-injury. Understood, but the risk of injury playing at 1st base in Charlotte might be more than the risk of DHing in the majors. He could hit a blast and walk around the bases, or get to first and send Acuna in to run. So, I respect the decision to extend the rehab to reduce risk of re-injury, but at the same time, there have already been some possible consequences - two walk-off losses (so far) knocking the Sox out of 1st place....games that Mune might have impacted. Now, if he can't swing the bat properly, that would be a different story.

If/when they bring back Mune, Gonzo could stay at 1B with Mune at DH , at least for the time being. Again, IMO, that should have been done at the outset of this series. It will be difficult to pick up 4 games against Cleveland if we get swept , especially after they bring back Ramirez.

I was hoping that Murakami would have been activated to DH in this important 4 game series. The season only was so many games against a team fighting for the division. Sox needed him.

I think Venable, Getz and JR are done with Seranthony. His contract is lost money. Nothing they can do about it.
