  1. Well no parking and no plan for sensible vehicular ingress/egress which is complicated by rail lines and the respective grade of surrounding streets. No plans for increased safety measures for fans relegated to using the increasingly dangerous/deadly mass transportation lines...just give us the money baby. Anyway, who designed that abomination? Related? Why show all those 300, 500, 700 level upper decks filled with fans? We know that will seldom or maybe never happen. No walk around as in the current park connecting most fans. What connects all the disjointed decks? Elevators? No center field concourse usable for most fans. On the exterior, what materials and elements? Brick? Split Palladian windows? Any sense of the architectural historical elements of the original Comiskey? Maybe pay sod father to walk across 35th street and throw a sand field in using Comiskey park's original home plate.
  2. Yea they traded Chet the Jet (one of the best center fielders the Sox ever had). The Sox later tried to fill his spot with Ron LeFore. I will let the younger Sox fans Google him..
  3. If the entire plot was sold to the WSox, ISFA , or the Bears, a Sports venue there very well could make sense. However, the sandlot is a gross misrepresentation of what Related has proposed. At the end of the day, they are just another greedy mega developer preying on gullible fans and tax payers while they seek to leverage every inch of real estate and every possible scenario they could imagine.
  4. Sox need a core of good hitters that hit a lot of home runs. Robert and Vaughn can't do it alone. Must add a few guys that can hit 20+ HR. HRs will also bring fans back in the park. Open the wallet and add some key free agents.
  5. On its face, this appears to be a frivolous lawsuit that warrants the sanction of attorney fees.
  6. Benni and AV 0-8 with 6-8 Ks. Put the damn bat on the ball men.
  7. True Ron, but as you know, velocity was never a big part of his game and who knows if TJ surgery will make him a flame thrower. Agree though that he should probably have it sooner rather than later.
  8. Any decision to have TJ surgery or any surgery is and will always be between a physician and their client. WSox cannot force a player to have surgery, even when they might feel it is in their best interests. They can suggest it and even request a second opinion from team doctors, but that is about how far that goes. Give the player some space to make his own decision.
  9. Grady sending Robert to steal second while down by three runs late in the game was foolish and Beckham noted that. Not sure if Sizemore is an effective baseball strategist but whatever, the franchise, as it is, lacks sufficient major league talent at all levels to field a competitive major league team. When Colson Montgomery, the Sox no. 1 prospect, is floundering in the Minors, one wonders how many years it will take to build a competitive roster. Sox Ownership and Management have damaged the franchise irrevocably and cast aside generations of fans who have grown sick and tired of supporting them.
  10. Every third base coach in the league loves Benintendi. He can't throw runners out from shallow left field.
  11. ALL mlb players who have good contracts enjoy the money and yes, those that come from poor backgrounds often spend it frivolously, like Luis Robert's jewelry. The problem with accusing black and/or Latino players with poor work ethics is that it promotes a stereotype that is not helpful. But OK, let's say they are lazy bums. Problem is that the WSox don't have a better DH than Eloy or a better 3B than Moncada and they will not spend to fill those spots through free agency. Getz' plan is long term - tear the team down for two years or more (while he gets the "free ride" you are talking about) and wait for minor league players to develop into major league players. Sounds like an unrealistic plan to build a competitive team on the cheap.
  12. Vaughn needed a single or a walk. Instead he was swinging for the fences. Big leg kick, big swing..final out.
  13. Getz mapped out a long term strategy (and career for himself) by preparing ownership and fans not to expect results any time soon.
  14. Stop stalking my posts. As the old expression goes, if you want to say something about me, say it to my face.
  15. Let it go already. Everything that can be said has been said. Close the thread.
  16. Eloy has been virtually playing on one good leg. He is still a decent hitter but can't push off to generate power. The recurrent hamstring injury may end his career. That kind of injury is increasingly susceptible to re-injury regardless of conditioning. In any case Eloy may still be able to help the O's down the stretch with a few key singles here and there. If the O's win anything, it will be more than the WSox will in the next few years. Eloy is not missing anything here where there is no positive vibe of any kind. No smile, no laughter in the clubhouse. This team is dead in the water.
  17. The comparison is apt based on career ABs and frankly, the vastly different perceptions some have of the respective players (one is overweight and lazy the other not, etc) despite that fact that they both have similar numbers. Anyway Eloy ("ILoy" here) is gone so time for Getz to look for a better DH. We shall see.
  18. "Happy for Eloy he’s found some early success but people grasping for it are hilarious." No one is suggesting that Eloy will mash the ball the rest of the year or even last given his damaged hamstring, but I am among those that wish him well. He certainly is with a better organization and a helluva lot better team, and maybe will play better in front of more friendly fans.
  19. A lot of people that are miserable and cannot find anything positive to say after a player leaves or show an ounce of appreciation and good will, agree with you. So what, I don't care. Eloy wore red gloves because his dad had cancer. He has a great personality and love for the game. His combined season average career numbers compare pretty favorably to Vaughn. Eloy AB 1875 BA .271 OPS .791 Vaughn AB 1880 BA .251 OPS .721 Being an immigrant of color unfamiliar with the language never stopped Eloy from having great relationships with fans like us that attend games. It won't be easy to replace his Ernie Banks attitude and demeanor on the field or the excitement he brought every time he came to the plate. I hope he has a good run with the O's this year. I will be watching.
  20. Instagram: "I would like to thank God for allowing me the opportunity to play for the #whitesox I want to thank everyone who believed in me like the owner, managing team and my teammates who supported me day in and day out. To the fans who showed love and support you will always be in my heart???????? #thebigbaby74 #eldelaguantillaroja74" 3,987 likes -------------------------- Best of Luck Eloy and good luck to your O's this year. We will miss you man.
  21. 1. Steve Stone, during the broadcast on 7/29, lambasted the WSox organization for not being able to field a consistently winning team over the past 40-50 years. Oh sure, he said, they won in 2005 but that has been it. He mentioned the '77 team (which he was on) but ignored some teams dating back to the Go-Go Sox and the Al Lopez managed teams in the late 1960's that came very close to winning. And no mention of the play-offs in '83 with his beloved Orioles or the strike shortened season. A little luck and the Sox may have won a few more championships. But OK, I have to cede the point to Stone - the Sox suck and have almost always sucked. 2. I do not entirely agree with most negative opinions expressed here about the location of GRF. OK, the location is inconvenient for some people. Any location might be. But, if you ever go to a game again...drive South toward Halsted on 37th, 34th, 33rd, etc and look how the area has gentrified. Drive North on Halsted toward UIC and Greektown and see how that area has been developing. There are several beautiful condos West of GRF and many opportunities for future development. The reasons that you don't see too many restaurant/bars near the park was and is by design - the design of Einhorn, Reinsdorf, Savarice and the ISFA. They planned making GRF an island separated from bars and restaurants from the time they bulldozed McCuddys and paved paradise. They like trying to keep alcohol profits in house, such as at the stadium connected Chi Sox Bar and Grill. They leave us with few choices for eating drinking outside the park ...and they like that. There is plenty of real estate around the park to change that, but not when it is owned by JR and/or the ISFA. They want all your money. That is one reason why a lot of Sox fans love to tailgate. Their food, their drinks.
  22. Drafting ANY pitcher with the team's 1st round Draft pick when the team and our fans are desperate for hitting confounded me. When KC picked the hitter I wanted on the very next pick, I threw my shoe at the TV monitor. For those old enough, recall that the WSox acquired Fisk, Luzinski and LeFlore in the 1981 off-season. Veeck signed Kittle on the advice of White Sox legend Billy Pierce. Those were among the moves that turned the franchise around in '83. The only mistake was that they didn't continue spending money for star players or make careful Draft choices and wise trades. The owner and management have to continue to get after it every year in order to maintain excellence. JR has been asleep at the wheel, and Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams were just waiting to retire on their lucrative pensions and earnings.
  23. Rumored interest in Vaughn. https://www.si.com/mlb/yankees/news/white-sox-slugger-linked-to-yankees-as-potential-trade-candidate-grant9
