“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
I have gone to a lot of games at Rate field with my family and friends and we always enjoy going. Have you gone to an Opening Day , let's say in the last ten years? If so did you have a nice time? Have you driven to games and tailgated with friends? If you go to games where do you typically sit? You claimed there is something wrong with it so tell us why. Regarding the "dead zone known as the 78". It sure has been a dead zone for 100 years or so. It is owned by Auchi, a convicted Iraqi felon whose past legal issues prevent him from entering the U.S.. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=does+auchi+own+the+78+property%3F Not sure why you keep promoting that dead zone. There is nothing that would justify moving the WSox from 35th street, where our fans love to go, to an area that a lot of fans would not go.

The White Sox will not need a new stadium for at least another decade and when they eventually need one, it sure as fvk is not going to be at the "78."

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
IMO, the WSox have to keep Sosa's RH bat in the line-up as much as possible... possibly as a 1B/DH platoon with Murakami or at 2B for a few games. The more HR power in the line-up, the merrier.

White Sox acquired RHPs Jordan Hicks and David Sandlin from BOS
Any business, whether in mlb or otherwise, will risk bankruptcy or at least, serious financial issues in the future by routinely spending in excess of what their revenues can support. Multi / mega million deferred player contracts are a recipe for disaster for teams like the WSox whose historical revenue figures cannot be reasonably projected to meet wildly projected liabilities. These limitations have nothing to do with Jerry Reinsdorf but they are governed by the degree of revenue from all sources that the WSox take in and the liabilities they have. I sense that many of those who complain about the WSox budget for player contracts probably don't go to many games or otherwise support the team.....and I have to say, I wonder if they will even root for Jerry's boys to win. They do however, contribute to a bad vibe around the WSox that radiates here and beyond.

Benni's defense has one glaring fault - his lack of arm strength. That is never going to improve. In order to address that, first he has to stop lollipoping long throws trying to get a runner out at the plate. Instead hit the cut-off man who almost certainly has a better shot at a runner with a strong relay throw. Second, Benny should be taken out for a defensive replacement in close games, especially in late innings. I still like his LH swing and occasional power. And he has been a clutch hitter.

Maybe Hendrix "Purple Haze" as his walk up music ?

White Sox acquired RHPs Jordan Hicks and David Sandlin from BOS
If the WSox exceed their budget - the amount they can spend before risking loan defaults, late payments, and other financial issues, where would the money come from to cover excess spending ? The point about the low budget is an old grind that fans of the WSox and other teams often engage in to voice frustration when mega player contracts are not taken on by corporate ownership/shareholders. I understand that fans have an expectation that shareholders spend millions of their own money to gamble on multi-year mega-million dollar player contracts. Unfortunately, that is not the way it works in MLB or in most other businesses. Simply stated - the Sox have to stay within spending limits in order to survive. Moving forward, the WSox have to make more money in order to spend more money. Hopefully, a winning team this season and beyond will increase revenues and remove the financial constraints that Getz is under.

A lot of questioning of JR when he hired Getz. No matter what you think of them, recognize that Chris has worked his ass off trying to make the White Sox into a likeable, competitive team. I think he is on the way to doing just that. I'm psyched for ST and opening day. Let's Go !

Sosa
Edited.. IMO...Sox need decent HR production from every OF position. BUT....if Acuna can have a high OBP and steal bases, we may have a great lead-off man.

I don't yet understand how Acuna is prioritized by Getz as a starting CFer. I keep thinking he lacks the power to be an OFer but little tuna is apparently being slotted in as the starting CFer. It will be interesting to see how opinions (including my own) change as we see these players in ST.

Baldwin was a butcher in the OF last year. Acuna profiles more as a second baseman. Lenyn Sosa led the team in HR and had a lot of clutch hits throughout the year but he missed some routine plays at second. No obvious roles for some of these players. It is all as clear as mud.

Rumor: White Sox in potential discussion(s) with Red Sox....
Agree on Abreu. Might cost Acuna who I think the Red Sox would covet as a potential answer to their search for a second basemen with good defensive skills. I think trading Acuna for a great outfielder makes sense for those who do not see Acuna as the White Sox starting center fielder or see his lack of power as a real drag. My guess is that Getz might be over-valuing Acuna. Lots of known unknowns to juggle.

Plenty of room between 33rd and 39th for the White Sox and Bears. Instead of using SoFi/Sci Fi futuristic architecture as a design predicate, use classic Chicago to inform the new design...i.e., use a border like the colonnade from Soldier field and take design clues from the Museum campus as well as from the original Comiskey park. Think outside the box or your own box.

Team Breakout Article
Ishbia decided to purchase a large block of stock in the White Sox, after he initially wanted to do that with the Minnesota Twins. An objective business person might conclude that Ishbia was seeking the best investment he could make in a sports franchise. Seems logical. Others might conclude otherwise. Some seem to suggest that, once Ishbia gains a controlling interest in the White Sox, that he will use his personal wealth to personally guaranty player contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars, or in the alternative, manipulate/increase corporate debt, as private equity investors often do, in order to cover things like large player contracts. That is possible. Anything is possible. As a fan of the White Sox, I want to see the team win now. I don't care to wait for 2030 and beyond, or to imagine what the landscape of major league baseball might be at that time.

Team Breakout Article
Not sure what you see but some fans see an improved team from last season for a number of reasons inc., - a better, deeper bullpen with a possible legitimate Closer. - possible improvements in hitting and power numbers from Colson Montgomery, Vargas and Lenyn Sosa. - Murakami - White Sox fan enthusiasm which was stoked with the Murakami signing. I know, positivity is not a metric that can be gleaned from this website.

White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
Maybe stop trolling White Sox fans and post over at Bleed Cubbie Blue. You sure sound like some Cub fans I know - Always hating on the White Sox.

White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
Half truths abound here, as usual. Some fans continue to whine and accuse Jerry Reinsdorf of being cheap when the fact is that Jerry has spent as he did in the example cited by Chuck and of course during the magical MJ years for the Bulls. "How they spent and who they spent it on" were responsibilities largely delegated to the Kenny, Rick, talent scouts and others. Watch the video again.

Every franchise but a few operate with the constraints on spending that other businesses are faced with every day, i.e., you can't spend more than you make. Unfortunately, some owners have not operated under those constraints and have created a monopoly after years of spending, advertising and promotion. Under that same model, Ishbia can choose to spend part of his personal fortune to award players with contracts worth hundreds of millions in an effort to join that "gazillionaire" owners' club. Yay. However, a better model involving some constraints on spending for every team would eventually make MLB more competitive and interesting across the country. As it stands, fans of losing teams can simply hope some gazillionaire buys their favorite team and starts spending like a drunken sailor. It looks like things are becoming a lot worse with lack of parity and fewer competitive teams. But that is the way our country has been skewing for a long time - the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
He can catch grounders but has issues with routine fly balls. Baldwin's height and reach would be assets at 1st base, but 1st base is not a position that would be available on this team, so it's kind of a moot point to argue over.
-
OD 26 Man Roster Projection
I was bullish on Baldwin's power, especially from the left side. He profiles as a first basemen which is a position that may not be available. Your characterization of Baldwin's struggles on routine fly balls is accurate. Tracking fly balls and catching them requires some innate abilities like good vision and depth perception. For whatever reason, Baldwin has not shown enough consistency defensively to pencil him in as an outfielder. That is too bad because he can hit the ball a long way.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
Gosh, he's really a little fuker.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
Many posters here voiced objection when the Sox picked up a 20 Mil. option for Robert. Now we get two prospects and avoid paying the 20 Mil. and they still aren't happy. You can't make some fans happy. Let's wait to see these players in Spring Training before we trash them.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
IMO, Acuna is a utility infielder/outfielder and elite pinch runner. He can get to balls hit in the gap with his speed and quickness but....yea, he's no Chet Lemon...maybe half a Lemon. Looking at highlights from his short career on YouTube, it looks like he swings hard but hits way too many ground balls. Maybe the WSox can help with his launch angle or have him try the rolling pin bat that Colson uses. As it stands, with scouting reports preceding him, infield positioning will take away a lot of ground ball hits from him. His swing angle and approach at the plate look pretty rough....he uses a violent upper cut swing which invariably results in a ground ball or swing and miss. His upper-cut swing doesn't even look good let alone yield consistent results. Again, IMHO.... IF Kelenic has a strong Spring Training he could earn the starting CF spot. If not, Acuna might be considered the front runner to start there on Opening Day. In any case, I look forward to seeing these guys battle it out for a roster spot in Glendale. Glad to see Robert, a self-centered, injury-prone freak replaced with a little gamer. I think most fans will be good with this trade over time. It is too early to grade it now.
