  1. No problem with anyone who chooses to not wear a Sox hat or go to games or switch allegiance to the Cubs. That said, comments like "I am never giving another dime to Reinsdorf " (just as one example) go beyond that. I am not surprised by the animosity, vindictiveness and even an apparent need for retribution by some, even in a sports setting. It is something that has unfortunately become more common in our society.
  2. Really a foolish non-responsive post, but I am not going to waste any further time on this, especially with you.
  3. I am not an authority or arbiter of fandom, but, by definition, a sports fan is an ardent and enthusiastic supporter of a team. If you choose to withdraw your support, which some suggest they will do, you are by definition, not a fan of the team. Some have even suggested they are the opposite - that they hope for failure of the team and will not attend games. That nonsense only hurts current fans who support the team and young pitchers and players trying to motivate to win games for the WSox and us, the fan base. I don't know where the foolhardy notion that not spending a dime to support Jerry Reinsdorf came from, but it is selfish, stupid (and maybe worse if it includes personal hatred for the owner, as in, he is cheap). Just a few years ago many so-called current fans were all in on the team when the WSox added Grandal to what looked to be a strong line-up. Things didn't work out and some just bailed on the team. The historic losing season invited sarcastic trolls, cub fans, know-it-alls, and big mouths to claim that they only now have withdrawn support for the team. I understand what happened with multiple key (and some expensive) players disappointing us. I largely blame Ken Williams and Rick Hahn for putting together those teams, as did the ownership, which is why Hahn and KW were fired. IMO our new GM, Manager and all the young pitchers and players deserve a fvking break from fans and their fvking support, especially before the first game of Spring training begins. Whoever claimed that somehow hurting Reinsdorf will have any positive impact on the team now or in the future sold you on a stupid idea.
  4. Your dime won't make a difference either way but understand this - if you don't support the team, you aren't a fan.
  5. WSox don't need a new stadium. When is the last time you attended a game?
  6. Well the alternative has big money owners (not necessarily "big market" teams) sign the biggest stars in the game to mega million long term contracts while a few peons in the stands wear paper bags over their heads and yell "sell Jerry sell" hoping against hope that a billionaire businessman somewhere somehow would want to throw away good money after bad in a rigged game. Not going to happen so might as well come out to some games and support the young players out there. They deserve it and will appreciate it.
  7. I have always felt a camaraderie with White Sox fans, especially those in the City and suburbs where I have friends. I feel honored to be a White Sox fan and was pleased to be among them again at SoxFest. I laugh at those who think they somehow benefit the WSox or our players with some misguided notion that they can improve anything by no longer going to games and supporting the team. Keep your ticket money and enjoy your new camaraderie - one that includes Sox haters, trolls and Cub fans. Nobody cares if you choose to stay home and waste your life slamming the Sox and their ownership. It's your choice to be miserable. Meanwhile, I'll be watching games on TV or at games with friends enjoying life.
  8. Iconoclastic defender my ass. What tends to make things a drag here is actually the reverse of what you allege - it's the constant drone of sarcastic trolls, cub fans, and know-it-alls hating on the Sox, or trying their best to depress true Sox fans, their friends and even their own children from attending White Sox games or enjoying the players and the games. Not worried about seeing any of those keyboard commandos at Sox Fest, Camel Back or at the park this season.
  9. There are many players and prospects that the WSox have to cheer for. Lighten up, enjoy the game and I bet your children will follow your lead and do just the same.
  10. Sullivan has been covering sports in Chicago for decades. I find his criticism of a young broadcaster to be unseemly and highly inappropriate. Maybe time for him to retire. What a jerk.
  11. Related development continues to look for a sucker to anchor a development in an area that has already been rejected by numerous potential tenants. Worse yet, their latest unrealistic proposals require tax payer funding. The WSox should distance themselves from this greedy, desperate developer. Instead, JR showed up with them in Springfield with hat in hand. It was a bad look but one that will no doubt not be repeated.
  12. I was wondering if he will be there on Saturday, that is all.. He is a local kid that I have been excited to have as part of the WSox org. and hope to meet him.
  13. I did not see a post that indicates which day Wolkow will be there. Do you?
  14. I have seen all of the ex-Sox players over the years so I am more excited about seeing some of the prospects for the first time. I hope Wolkow goes. That would be awesome.
  15. Further to your point we wanted/needed more HR from AV and our other corner infielders and outfielders. If he hit 30 bombs, we would probably not be having this conversation about his value...but he didn't.
  16. I do not blame the organization for Vaughn's offensive issues which have been the same, year after year. AV is a short, stout hitter that loads up with a high leg kick to generate power. OK but all too often he steps in the proverbial bucket and whiffs or comes up short on outside sliders that he can't reach as his left leg is off the ground or in the bucket. Since the Sox are not going to sign a FA power hitter like Santander, Vaughn is probably worth what they have agreed upon.
  17. For some baseball fans, winning isn't everything but I know there are precious few of that kind of fan on this forum. My point was that it will be interesting (for some fans like me) to watch the new players the Sox acquired and hope that they can contribute some time down the road. The catcher position will be up for grabs in ST and one of the three competing for that position could also compete to be our DH. There will be competition for all infield positions other than first base. I am anxious to see the 22 year old RF the Sox got from Boston. Benintendi is healthy and could have a good season. Our pitching staff is young but have another year of experience under their belts. And we have some monster prospects that will be coming up in the next few years.
  18. Let's wait until we see the players in Spring Training. I am hoping for a few players to surprise us in a positive way.
  19. Sox haters hate. Nothing new here.
  20. The likelihood of hamstring injury recurrence increases following hamstring injury or surgery according to medical articles I have read. Assuming that is the case, a hitter needs a strong base to complete a powerful swing. Eloy hasn't had that in a long time. He is probably toast as far as being an MLB hitter. Those who repeat memes about players of color being inherently lazy, unmotivated, greedy, etc, are not well informed or are ill-informed, imo. I had the pleasure of meeting Eloy and thought he was a great kid. I wish him the best.
  21. Parting shots and mostly cheap ones. Give it up already.
  22. Offer Tadahito Iguchi Asst. Manager if Sasaki agrees to come to the WSox. Time to pull all the levers.
