  1. I stand by that comment after reading the absurd post your dredge up with falsehoods and absurd arguments. (like the streets are too narrow in Bridgeport for a new owner to want to build a stadium there). No matter, you wanted to levy a shot at me as you do at every turn. Meanwhile, I ignore everything you say here because of you attitude. .
  2. What difference does it make to anyone who the play-by-play announcer is as long as he/she has a baseline of competence, which Schriff has? Agrest nit picking that Schriff is too positive? That's a joke. Come on, being positive and entertaining viewers with more than just the call and stats is a major part of his job. Otherwise, the daily play-by-play grind with baseball talk and stats can get boring to viewers. Some viewers prefer a light hearted announcing style . Maybe a certain demographic group relates with an announcer like Schriff where others don't. That's OK but so what? Beckham in one broadcast tried to mock Schriff and hang him out to dry not knowing Gordo's walkup song, while Schriff continued on, unaware. After that went on for too long Schriff asked Gordon why he did that and Gordo had nothing to say and no apology. Gordon showed himself to be a jerk and I suspect doesn't like the guy. Tolerance of others who are different is something that is in short supply in our country. Maybe that pertains to some extent here.
  3. You can't imagine the WSox building a new stadium on 35th street where they have been for over a hundred years, where Babe Ruth and so many baseball legends played, where the Sox won two WS championships and a pennant? You can't imagine taking advantage of existing infrastructure (nat gas, 3 phase power, water/ sewer), You can't imagine taking advantage of vehicular access to the expressway and pedestrian access to the White Sox stop on 35th street? There has been a lot of projection about what current or future Sox ownership might do, but leaving common sense at the doorstep is not a possibility. And only the naive or uninformed are swayed by the unrelenting propaganda and pressure campaign by Auchi and his Related companies. Meanwhile Auchi/Related seek tax payer money/.TIF financing and an anchor tenant for his junk real estate. Mansueto is going to make himself a loser if he falls for that garbage.
  4. You don't know what the fvk you are talking about.
  5. OK, if you isolate and extrapolate the last 28 days instead of the prior time since he came up, OK, you're right and perhaps a cause for concern over time. My own opinion is that he may have gotten a bit pull happy the last few weeks after hitting some long home runs. Then there is the fact that the Sox have little reason to compete whereas some opponents have been all in for the playoffs. I am not anticipating that the Sox put max effort in for the last 2 weeks. Of course they should, but realistically most have been making plans and looking forward to the off-season. Home crowds have diminished so its basically over this season. Don't make too much of it.
  6. Pitchers are getting ahead of Colson or getting him out on high inside fastballs. Obviously, that pitching strategy is frequently employed against LH hitters, especially those with that nice long swing he has. I don't know what the best counter-strategy might be, but I would hate to see him change his swing if it impacts his power. Colson's HR have been a highlight of this season and he needs to build on that next season.
  7. Na. Don't give the Cleveland's more credit than they deserve.
  8. S2K : JR's last decision , to sell to a billionaire private equity investor who is holding his cards close to his vest, might be his last laugh at sports fans.
  9. Go to the 78 on foot and tell me what attractions there are around there that would justify the investment of Billions of dollars there. This tract has been a dead zone for over 100 years for good reason. There is nothing there there. Have you looked at the Fire plan that they claim will be started next year? The 3 Metra tracks, The Clark st. N and S ramps, and Roosevelt are not altered, but for a possible turn off from Roosevelt into a parking garage. They will need a wall built all along the Metra tracks for pedestrian safety. If the Fire proceed with their current plan forget about your dream to move the Sox from their historic home on 35th street to that sh1thole. Auchi and his Related companies have been pushing hard to get money to build (from Amazon, from U of I, TIF from the City) on this extremely compromised tract for over a decade. They don't care about our sports fans or the City of Chicago, they are in it for the money and they are pushing harder and harder as time goes by.
  10. Great 9/11 personal remembrance and tribute by Schriff.
  11. Sox should have got the Rays CFer instead of Mead.
  12. Walks the lead-off man in the 9th in a one run game.
  13. The HRs were hit off junk. Can't throw off-speed pitches in the zone against power hitters.
  14. Sean leaves with the lead, but on balance, a mostly unimpressive start by Burke.
  15. Why was Venable playing Vargas at 1st ? He is our gaddamn 3rd basemen.
  16. Vargas 3B, Montgomery SS, Meidroth 2B , Sosa at 1B should be the starting infield for most games, IMO... No Mead.
  17. I'm not suggesting that WSox could have packed the stadium but for the weather, but there were several games that I planned on attending that I cancelled because of cold and/or rainy weather this year. Roger Bossard said that this was the worst weather for games that he could recall in 40 years. He cited the record amount of times he had to deploy the tarp. A few more terrible weather seasons and a retractable roof stadium might be considered. You really have to bundle up for early season night games and at some point, cold / wet Spring weather deters attendance.
  18. I am not sure if you had a chance to study the plan for the Fire stadium but it all but eliminates the possibility to build another stadium at the 78 that provides reasonable vehicular and pedestrian access. Most of the parking is on a lot going into the Fire's stadium. No east / West streets cross the 3 Metra tracks. I used Google maps to check your claim about the under 20 minute walking time, even starting out outside the 78 at Roosevelt and Clark and walking down Clark or down the river somehow.. Google maps comes up with 26-27 minutes, plus the time to get out of the park and out to that intersection. So figure more like a half hour.

If a team has an ace like the Tigers' Skubal, the Pirates Skenes, Red Sox Crochet and obviously the Dodgers Ohtani, one win in every pitching rotation is almost a lock. To your point, the Sox may not have anyone in sight that can become anything like those true ace pitchers, especially if Noah Schultz, Hagen Smith, etc. do not pan out. And then there is the need for LH and RH set-up pitchers and a Closer. Now, the Sox starters struggle to stay in games until the middle innings and then it gets wayyy too stressful as Venable plugs in pitchers to try to close out games.
  20. Getz and Venable have improved the Sox and at least arguably, have made it enjoyable to watch them. I have loved the offense since the Allstar break. Replacing Mead with Vargas, Baldwin with almost anyone, and Tauchman with Braden and the line-up could look even better. Keep hitting bombs !
