  1. Yea, my bad. I was thinking backwards because I prefer Meidroth at 2B. I would have brought up Kyle Teel because he is a better fit, in my opinion, with the Chase Meidroth vibe and he is an athletic catcher. I'm sure Quero is good also, but that's just my opinion.
  2. Baldwin would make an interesting, although for some, unconventional first basemen. He offers a lot more athleticism than AV, is a LH bat, yet still has power. Meanwhile, I like Lenyn Sosa at SS and Meidroth at 2B. Waiting to see how Ramos is doing and if he will be brought up. He showed some power last season which would be great.
  3. An option is not a likely reason that Ishbia sought a minority share. Legally, a minority shareholder maintains certain rights, such as the right to examine the financials of the corporation and access to other corporation documents (i.e., meeting minutes from the last few years, copies of leases and contracts, etc.). Those would be critical to Ishbia for whatever his long term strategy might be.
  4. There are statutes in the Federal Code that pertain to ownership stakes, constructive ownership of a family member's stock etc. There are also stautes and rules pertaining to the rights of minority shareholders including the right to examine the books of the corporation. Ishbias could have purchased Reinsforf stake outright and he has plenty of money to do that. Instead Ishbia is going down one of the typical roads that private equity investment investors often head. Some of those strategies include, for example, destabilizing the corporations financial status, even intentionally. For example, increasing debt dramatically and letting the whole house of cards fold in order to pick up the pieces later while giving the shaft to banks. There are several other strategies that Private Equity Investors can employ, but I am going to leave it to anyone interested in exploring that to do their own research. My own view is that Ishbia is a corporate raider that is guided by one primary financial interest - his own. Can he be stopped? I don't know, but I hope so.
  5. I love free CSHN broadcasts. Brings me back to more innocent times when any kid could enjoy the Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks albeit on a b&w CRT. Comcast tried to put a wrench in it.
  6. Your posts too often lack relevance and substance, not because you are not knowledgeable, but because you are consumed with one-upmanship. You almost never just let something go without having the last word and maybe tossing in a personal dig. If there is any consolation, you are not alone among posters on internet forums. Thus my thought about trying to be better.
  7. Too personal. Be better.
  8. Vaughn is on cruise control after signing his new contract. No obvious replacement in the wings (Elko? Quero? Baldwin?) so he isn't under any pressure at all. Sox fans are used to having some pretty good first basemen and AV has disappointed us. Colson needs to prove he can really mash before he even coaxes a second look by the Sox. Questionable performance on both sides of the ball.
  9. It's kind of like that at most parks....the cheap seats suck.
  10. There has to be be a better alternative than a greedy private equity/corporate raider. Hopefully Michael Reinsdorf and Mellody Hobson will hold firm and send Ishbia looking for another short term investment opportunity.
  11. You make no sense with your juvenile street talk and anyway, what in the world does this have to do with me?
  12. We are going tonight and look forward to seeing the first of our top prospects on the field. We will give him a standing ovation to welcome him.
  13. I have to admit that some of the lingo in the above posts is outside my vocabulary range, but I got the drift. Gross.
  14. As I recall, from a long interview with Garfein done toward the end of ST, Meidroth indicated that he preferred to play second base over SS, and enjoyed making the pivot from that position to make double plays. I am not sure he has the range and arm strength to get runners from deep short but that is only based on what I have read, not what I have seen. The reality is that the Sox will deploy him at any position as they see fit and he won't complain. Chase will just be happy that he is being being called up to the major league. Congratulations Chase.
  15. I could care less about service time. Play the best players available and deal fairly with them if they prove worthy down the road,
  16. It's really bush league for players to diss their former organization(s). I could never stand that fatazz in Chicago from day one. Fvk him.
  17. IMO, Kwan probably would have gunned down Tauchman considering the way he lumbered around third and could not advance a base earlier in the game. A hold sign at third might have resulted in a loss as well, but you hate to get thrown out at the plate to end the game. Hopefully another lesson learned for the young Manager.
  18. Narvaez instead of Quero or Teel for that matter, is just more of the same...another 30 something player (33 actually) that is a temporary plug-in by Getz seeking an easy fix to try to stabilize the line-up and probably, the tenure of his job. Agree or disagree with his moves, this guy has no balls whatsoever. His goal is to improve the team slightly from the worst record in history. So anyway, I wasted my time looking at Narvaez BA over the last 3 seasons.. .206, .211, 154. ....way off his days with the WSox. This guy is toast. Turn the page already. Give the fans something interesting to watch...not these washed up veterans who can no longer even run the bases.
  19. Let's not drift into ancillary points about conditioning and training. Bottom line - there was a pinch runner on the bench that was not deployed for a hobbled, slow, old, gassed player. We will never know, but absent the injury, I doubt Tauchman had the stamina or the legs to beat the throw. Obviously Sox need several things but at the top of the list would be a Closer and maybe a burner/base stealer. We all know the rest of the list.
  20. ISFA will do whatever it takes (again) to keep the Sox on 35th. If there was an alternate location me and some Southsiders would be OK with the Credit Union 1 site in Tinley.
  21. KW and Hahn deserved to be fired but, knowing how JR usually treats employees and players, the way they were dismissed was unusual. Basically they were told, pick up your sh 1t and get out of here....and neither one has commented about their sudden departure since.
  22. Getz dive into the 30+ veterans' dumpster has yielded players that, as was said above, are blocking Teel, Meidroth and Quero. Moreover, they are not helping to win games or adding an ounce of excitement to the games. Getz is attempting to cover his azz with a lame strategy to eek out a few more wins, and even that has backfired.
  23. If the Sox get swept by Cleveland (which is possible and even likely) , maybe we will see Meidroth (2B), Quero DH), and Teel (C) up and some demotions and DFAs to make room for them. Forget Rojas. Leave Vargas at 3B for a few more series.
