Possible rough start of the regular season
The Brewer Home Opener with "the Mizz" (one of my favorite non-White Sox) pitching will be a tough test for our offense. That series plus our subsequent Home series against the loaded Blue Jay team are going to be rough...especially given that the Sox pitching proved quite suspect in ST. We need Teel back in the line-up and meanwhile, the rest of the line-up needs to shake the cobwebs from ST, and start slugging.

Frank Thomas Suing Sox
DA - Trust me (from my own experience), Corboy and Dimitri is a large prestigious law firm that handles a variety of civil matters. It is possible that other Defendants (i.e., Nike) did not fulfill contractual obligations or they improperly used 35's name and likeness while the White Sox were simply joined as a necessary party to the litigation. This isn't a big deal. Fans who don't know much about this litigation sometimes respond with tired old tropes about Jerry being "cheap, " but come on... Now that a law firm has been engaged and wants their 1/3 cut, it will only make a settlement a little more difficult. Off topic slightly, I cringe when I see commercials for Nugenix testosterone supplements with Frank and Doug Flutie. It is possible and maybe probable that excessive Testosterone, especially, when abused to obtain sexual enhancement, may prove to have serious side effects over time. Take my opinion with a grain of salt though as my information and opinion on this is were informed by conversations I have had with an old friend who is an oncologist. Whether or not any health issues arise from excessive Testosterone supplements, Frank's involvement with that ("and she will like that too...") is a bit cringe worthy. Maybe stick with royalties from jersey sales.

Frank Thomas Suing Sox
Thomas allege that his consent was not obtained for the use of his name or likeness on the City Connect 2.0 merchandise ONLY. This seems like a matter that should have been easily settled before Thomas went to one of the big hitters among law firms in town - Corboy and Demitri. IMO, unnecessary bad publicity for all concerned. Having said that there are always two sides to a lawsuit so there must have been some reason that the City Connect apparel was not subject to royalties.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
Maybe take a chance - put Antonacci on the roster and let Mead go. Antonacci has that "gamer" quality that doesn't show up in the stats, but adds value to the team.

Do you at least hope that the Sox have a winning record this year or will you be rooting for Getz and Jerry to fail ?

Reality check: The "78" is not located in an "active neighborhood," if by active you mean similar to Wrigleyville, Boystown. There is nothing around the 78 unless you want a pastrami sandwich. Sounds like you aren't familiar with the area. Most Sox home games are night games and end quite late. A majority of the fan base are families located in the SW suburbs, a good distance from the loop. If you want to hang with the singles crowd late night, Wrigley is where to go.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
It looks like OF was decided: Bennintendi, Acuna, Hays, Periera, Hill. Starting infield is set: Vargas Montgomery, Chase, Murakami plus Sosa. That leaves one spot.

Benetti's new job...
I liked Hawk and his inimitable home run call will will live on forever. Benetti was at times, too full of himself making a point of demonstrating his mastery of often arcane and uninteresting pablum. His toy shelf and Sox math got old, and yes, no need to eat during a broadcast. I didn't hate that but I just found it strange. Sorry, Jason was a bit nerdy for my taste. Of course he is a pro's pro technically, no question about that as evidenced by his national gigs. Part of me wishes he stayed here, but never forget, for Jason, it was all about the money, his time, and his independence, and who could blame him for that ? I get that some fans are intolerant of Schriff. To whatever extent his background or his personality either works for you or it doesn't. No need to hate on the guy though. He loves his job and I, for one, think that is an extremity valuable asset, in any profession. So is an open mind and the willingness to learn. My personal preference to succeed Hawk would have been a former player like Dan Plesac with a color announcer like Kittle or AJ. I just like inside baseball stories from former players, especially guys who have a great sense of humor to fill all the empty air time during a game from their own experiences. Jason and Steve were so professional that the broadcasts became boring. They didn't make me laugh much. In contrast imagine Plesac with AJ or Kitty. They would have fans busting a gut with laughter, win or lose.

The key to the season...
And that is unfortunate for a team that has assembled a pretty decent line-up. Also, losing Batman was a blow to our bullpen and to the vibe in the clubhouse and out in the bullpen. One of my favorite players on the team and a really nice guy.

Thank you for this response. My thought about this acquisition is that it may in fact have been motivated by a desire to address some of the issues that would be exacerbated by having both the Fire and the White Sox stadiums on the 78. The Amtrak site is plenty large enough for the medical center plus surface parking for the stadiums. A bridge over the river would be the obvious way to connect the 78 to parking and other improvements at the Amtrak site. Another huge advantage would be eliminating the view of the railroad boneyard across the river. Apparently Mansueto either never thought of this or felt it wasn't worth the millions to purchase and develop another large parcel. As it is, he must be creaming in his pants about this. As to your thought about the Amtrak site probably being too narrow to locate a baseball stadium, I agree. That is one reason why I was wondering if the adjacent BNSF site might be Ishbia's next target. At this point, absent further land acquisition, the Amtrak site would provide a lot of surface parking and additional points of ingress. Also, as I mentioned, developing that land would drastically improve the aesthetic on the West bank of the river. You know, in any of the fancy architectural renderings of the Fire stadium, they always eliminated that Westerly view.

Thank you for requesting my opinion as you know I am very familiar with this area of Chicago and the Chicago White Sox. My family, friends and I started going to games at the historic Comiskey Park over 50 years ago. We have long standing ties with the White Sox, the Bridgeport/ Armor Square neighborhood, and IIT. I have made my opinion very clear about abandoning the historic home of the White Sox and you are free to disagree with that. As far as any plan by Ishbia to move the White Sox - I realize that a Billionaire can do anything. Reference a recent statement from our President "I can do whatever I want" i.e., bulldoze the West Wing of the White House, build a garish ballroom, build an imposing arch in D.C. or, in the case of Ishbia and his wife, try to swap some Sheridan Rd property with the Winnetka Park District for a southern portion of Centennial Beach in order to expand his $77 million lakefront estate. No, the power of billionaires isn't a political statement, rather, it is a reality in our country. I would be happy to comment on the acquisition of the 42 acre parcel (The "79"?) if that is what you are asking. I would like to see the site plan before I cast any opinions about it. Preliminarily, do Shore/Ishbia have any plans to also acquire the BNSF yard which would extend the 42 acre parcel (the Metra yard) West to Canal ? As far as your sarcasm about soil conditions, ingress/egress/ parking at the "78", it seems to me that the proposed site West of the river may not have the same issues. In fact, the proposed acquisition appears to have been motivated because of some of the issues at the 78.

WBC game threads and catch-all
Ant and Meidroth do not have the arm strength to play Short. By comparison, Sosa has a gun for an arm. Not in any way suggesting Sosa should be a SS, just comparing arm strength. Ant showed a quick bat with power but I thought his quirky footwork and lack of arm strength might keep him in the minors for a while. Ant's failure to throw out Ron Acuna Jr. in the 7th was a turning point. He had another throw from short that was a ground ball to the first basemen. Not sure why Italy was even playing him at short.

MLB Franchise Valuations for 2026 - Sox are 17th
Yes and several years of very poor talent evaluation , bad scouting, poor trades, and a financial hangover from paying salaries of under-performing players. \As someone who has gone to a good deal of games, I have to relate that the weather, particularly last year was not favorable. Cold in the Spring and many games with rain or threats of rain. Still a mediocre franchise at best, but we didn't get too many breaks (consider all the c;lose losses over the last two seasons).

MLB Franchise Valuations for 2026 - Sox are 17th
A valuation taken after three of the worst seasons in franchise history and comparing to the top teams in baseball. Ok. Tanking was always going to be part of the rebuild but yes, it was worse than anticipated. Sox are now stacked with young talent that will be coming on board in the next few years and winning. Of course, CNBC is probably not the best source for baseball acumen like evaluating new prospects and player acquisitions, but yes, they got the top five perennial franchise leaders in revenue right. So what? Maybe more revenue sharing and salary caps? Regardless, being a White Sox fan isn't, never was, and never will be about rooting for a team that eclipses most others in revenue or unfortunately, wins consecutive championships. Konerko was wrong n 2005. The White Sox are still the second team in the second city. And no, moving the team into any new stadium isn't going to change that reality. The fan base is the fan base. It is where it is and what it is.

WBC game threads and catch-all
Teel and Antonacci have some Italian heritage so they chose to play for team Italy. That was OK with me, especially when Italy needed some talent to compete with the USA All Stars. Then there is Roman Anthony who looks like an Italian actor or race car driver and is one of the best if not the best young players in the game. Italy needed outfielders and asked Roman to join. He declined and ended up playing for the USA team. After Anthony hit the decisive home run he drew his hands across his jersey to highlight USA. He is an American (like Teel and Antonacci) and was absolutely entitled to demonstrate the pride he has in his country with that gesture. I guess because of the background, it made me wish he was on team Italy and at least for me it took something away from that moment.

Do they stay or do they go?
I did. "The vacuum cleaner" for the O's at 3B. As far as the WBC having some value to promote MLB in other countries, OK but without teams having at least one home game in their country, and having truly competitive rosters, maybe better to just have a few more regular season mlb games in other countries. The only reason that a team like Italy is competitive is with a roster comprised mainly of American born players. Otherwise, fielding an All Star line-up from mlb for team USA feels like watching the Globetrotters against the Generals. Team Italy will have a lot more pressure on them without Teel.

Do they stay or do they go?
I watched a lot of games last season and saw Vargas make a lot of plays at the hot corner that were outstanding....plays that required cat quick reflexes and a strong throwing arm. I am not buying into the average defensive metrics when the eye test belies them. Historically there were a number of third basemen that had quick reflexes and a strong throwing arm (Frank Robinson, Pete Ward, Ron Santo). Vargas is not at that level yet, but he is a young player that appears to have the right skill set for 3B.

Teel injured in WBC - Grade 2 hamstring strain, out 4-6 weeks
I heard an update from Italy's Manager but it was only that Teel would not be playing. I am worried about Teel. Teel worked out with weights in the off-season and according to him, gained about 20 pounds. Some players benefit from extra muscle mass and weight.

I guess that's funny to you as well. I hope they prove you wrong and compete for the division.

Sorry, Teel is one of my favorite players since I met him at Sox Fest last year. Not laughing but go ahead.
