Rikuu Nishida gets the call! Kelenic gets the boot
No harm no foul if that turns out to be the case but never forget, Madrigal was the Sox No. 1 pick in the Draft....a bit different scenario.

Rikuu Nishida gets the call! Kelenic gets the boot
Acuna cooked his own goose by having too many non-competitive at-bats. Sergio Santos described how Nishida has had a positive impact on the team. Beyond baseball his smile is infectious and he has a great competitive attitude. Will that be enough to keep him on the roster? I don't know but I am convinced he deserves a chance. Also, he will be a great teammate and friend of Mune which will only help both of them. Credit to Cali for calling this one and to Getz for having the gorliones to make this move.

Credit where credit is due. Cali called this one.

How Much More Suffering is Needed?
You are correct, Nishida would not be good back-up at SS, but the Sox have Chase and Sam to cover SS when Colson is not there. Could also have Vargas cover short and Mune to third..if necessary. Credit where credit is due. Cali called this one.

You have Ray under pressure with 2 consecutive walks, so Benny Left on Left swings at the first Fn pitch, bailing Ray out.

Pull Acuna out of the line-up and DFA him after the game.

It's hard to find square pegs for square holes and round pegs for round holes to complete the board. Therefore, it takes a little "thinking outside the box" as Cali said. For example, Sam is an infielder playing in the OF, but he is one of the spark plugs on a team that is doing OK right now.

Yes, Nishida plays some decent D. So consider DFAing Acuna and bringing up Nishida without delay. Monday? Nishida should be able to fulfill a limited the role even if it just to pinch hit or pinch run. Mune and Nishida on the same team would at minimum be interesting. Nishida's personality is off the charts.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
Love to see a new stadium North a few blocks from the Rate. Model a brick retro stadium using architectural elements from the original Wrigley and the original Comiskey. Swap the South Lot off 39th St with the Chicago Park District for the Armor Park Fieldhouse and fund a green space for the Park District there. Not sure what the current utility of the Armor Fieldhouse is, but I have driven by it a thousand times and have never seen much activity there.

5/23 3:05 CDT Sox at Giants Game 2: Houser against Hudson
Don't like Hudson being used as an opener or Venable making it clear that Dominguez is the Closer....but I'm not the Manager so it is what it is.

More relevant is the issue of whether or not to site a stadium on the canal - I suggest watching one of the White Sox games at Oracle Park (especially if you have never been to that stadium)...then tell us how situating a proposed stadium on a narrow polluted canal makes any sense whatsoever. As of now I do not think that any of the concepts to move the White Sox to the canal hold water. (i.e., building the stadium behind the soccer field and repurposing the railroad bridge for pedestrians to walk there?) Perhaps the proposed future White Sox Chairman should take some time to consider all alternatives. Consider, for example, that moving the WSox could adversely impact attendance and in the long run, jeopardize the franchise. Does Ishbia think that most Sox fans will take mass transit or want to drive into the S Loop? Maybe sign a new 5 year lease with the ISFA instead of succumbing to what appears to be some self-imposed pressure to act immediately (like entering into a contingent contract with Amtrak not even considering how that would impact Bridgeport and Armor Park. Has Ishbia ever met with local residents and businesses about a potential move? At minimum, a new lease will provide enough time to calmly and properly consider alternatives including one that seems far more realistic and practical - i.e., building a new stadium on the site of the current Armor Square Fieldhouse on 33rd St. I know, you (dislike) the current stadium and location. What area do you live in (how you do travel to the park (car, bus or train) how many games each year do you attend)?

At what point do we start to believe?
I think his purported reason relating to his views about the new owners was questionable and I took it more as a parting shot. Harry's decision was swayed by a meeting with a Tribune executive who emphasized the value of the nationwide exposure of WGN as compared to a minimal audience of local cable subscribers. The decision was a no brainer. The late Eddie Einhorn (not Reinsdorf) was the one who sought to monetize cable subscriptions which killed off a large segment of the White Sox fan base. That whole ON TV subscription service which required decoding boxes was a sham. Many, many baseball fans across Chicago and beyond refused to jump through hoops to get a decoder box and watch very low quality broadcasts. That really fvked the White Sox fan base for generations to follow. I recall my parents , long time White Sox fans, just turning on Channel 9 after that and watching Harry and the Cubs. I soldered together a pirated ON TV decoding kit just because I refused to switch allegiance to the Cubs and pay for what should have been and always was free. Ediie Einhorn was a gaddamn fool. https://www.southsidesox.com/2012/11/30/3707810/white-sox-history-the-story-of-sportsvision

You are correct. It was 1981 not 1983.

Sam Antonacci Appreciation Thread
I give credit to Ron for being one of the first to promote Sam before we all realized that he is a very good player. Ron is the Chairman of this Board.

Probably not going to win the WS for a while considering the Sox and Cubs have only won one time each in over 100 years. It's just damn fun watching this team. They are getting right up there with some of the most exciting White Sox teams I can recall starting with the '77 Hitmen. What a summer that was in the old yard. Then TLR's '8 team with Fisk and Luzinski...roof shots with Harry announcing them. I loved the 2005 WS win, but there have been so many great seasons over the many years on 35th Street.

Trade Proposals
The notion that Meidroth and Antonacci are redundant, and thus one should be traded, does not hold water. (credit to Joe Pesci "My Cousin Vinnie"). Both players have played important roles in the line-up. Chase is a better 2nd basemen, but so what? Sam is hitting close to .300 and is absolutely clutch. He is learning the LF position on the go but as long as he is hitting with a high OBP, that's OK. Those two players along with Tristan Peters are the glue that holds a line-up with the power hitters together. If only Kyle Teel could get back into this line-up and maybe bring Braden up for RF. That line-up would be awesome.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
Bad ideas? They abound now that a Billionaire owner, not familiar with SS Sox fans has decided to move mountains (so to speak) to do whatever it takes to move the White Sox from their historical home. He risks ruining South side neighborhoods that have been gentrifying for years North and East of the park. Instead, he proposes moving an Amtrak rail yard there, leaving empty surface lots and a stadium that will need to be demolished. Great urban planning buddy, but who cares from your vantage point on the North shore? Allegedly, Jerry is Greedy but Ishbia is not. Yep, got that from Ishbia's Winnetka project. The "78" preliminary plans do not include adequate surface parking. No tail-gaiting just get the fans into the stadium asap to eat and drink more. Keep the fans in their seats, like at Wrigley. No room for expansive outfield concourses like the Rate has. A view of the Loop from your seat? Probably not. I digress....years ago the beloved Jack Brickhouse used to enjoy announcing home runs as fans watched Ernie's HR bound out of the park. That very special feature of Wrigley was erased when Ricketts decided to block views from inside and from outside the park with several scoreboards, including that monstrosity in LF. Another bad idea - back some proposed stadium up to the canal. The canal is not a river. Google "Bubbly Creek." That section of the canal is probably still not safe to swim in or fall into. It's dark, silty, stagnant water with decaying organic sludge at the bottom. If you have ever been to Oracle Park you would laugh at the notion that the sanitary canal would be comparable to McCovey Cove in any way, shape or form. But dream on. Someone suggested that fans abandon their old habits of driving to the park with family and friends and instead drive to train stations. Another bad idea that makes traveling more time consuming, less convenient and less safe for many fans, especially in the far SW suburbs. That idea could very well lead to less attendance in the long run ... a lot less. Anyway, as mere fans, let's not get to sappy about the proposed stadiums. The stadium issues for the Bears and the White Sox are mostly about billionaire money and greed - priorities which always trump anything else.

Bring up Braden Montgomery and DFA Kelenic. Bring up Kory Lee and demote Quero to Charlotte.
