Oh no! McDougal
To the extent that Mcdougal's reaction can be compared to how hays and Teel reacted to hamstring injuries, perhaps his injury is not as serious. Just from my medically unqualified fan's perspective.

White Sox add RHP Tyler Davis, DFA Lucas Sims
Derek Hill, Tristan Peters, Everson Periera. Acuna is going to hurt somebody with a collision if Venable continues to starts him out there. The Sox have to try to win every game for the fans. No long leash for a bad dog.

White Sox add RHP Tyler Davis, DFA Lucas Sims
100%. It became obvious that Getz made that trade without even knowing whether Aucna was a switch hitter or whether he could ever be a starting CFer in the major league. Tristan Peters and Derek Hill have played well in CF (and have provided some notable offensive moments). OTOH, Acuna has shown the opposite - he has issues judging flyballs, his throws have been wild, and he can't hit , at least not well enough to outweigh his defensive liabilities. And yes, there is no doubt that Getz is in defensive mode on that trade. That and I believe Acuna may be out of options. IMO, if Braden was even close to ready, or if Hays leg injury was rehabbed, Acuna would be a reluctant but well justified DFA. Edited to add - to the extent Ozzie can sway Sox management a bit about a fellow Venezuelan player, maybe his promotion of Acuna matters. Acuna has also bobbled some ground balls and Venable has not used him as in infielder that much, so I don't think that his glove on the infield is worth anything to this team. DFA, and don't look back.

“The 78” is alive and well, moisturized and thriving , Viva La Canal's Edge!
There is nothing wrong with an Owner or Developer to consider the opinions of fans and others. For those old enough to remember, that was NOT part of the process that Reinsdorf and Einhorn employed when they decided on the plan for GRate, including the robin's egg blue seats, white truss work, stucco exterior.... and of course no surrounding entertainment area, no retail, residential or commercial development or anything but parking surrounding the park.

SF18: If the presentation you are referring to is the one that that includes a small depiction of a fan going toward one of the two bridges, yes I have seen that. I have read quite a bit about those bridges, at least enough to have some idea about what a massive project it would be to use those bridges or the area under the elevated tracks there for another purpose. It seemed to me that for many reasons, including some I mentioned earlier, it might make sense to locate the stadium at 18th and Canal, roughly where you have the #2 on your drawing. As far as acquiring another parcel, it's just money.FYI, I put quite a bit of time and thought into this plan before expressing my opinions, including that the old RR bridges are rather unsightly.

You don't know anything more than the rest of us. I was only making a suggestion as someone who has been familiar with that area and knows the White Sox and our fan base for a long time. The bridge idea is more complicated than it appears so I will wait for more information as to how that might work.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Charles_Air_Line_Bridge#/media/File:St._Charles_Air_Line_Bridge_May-2022.jpg Not sure who posted an AI image with Sox fans walking across that ugly bridge - basically a bridge to nowhere. A more sensible option would be to locate a proposed stadium at 18th and Canal adjacent to the Schoenhofen Brewery Historic District (outlined in blue) and avoid needing the bridge infrastructure or the 78 entirely. There is no neighborhood connected to the 78 a vacant difficult to access lot for over 100 years. Conversely, a proposed 18th and Canal location would integrate with the lively arts and crafts Pilsen neighborhood and of course Chicago's Chinatown - South side neighborhoods that have been part of the diverse fabric of the South side for generations.

4/19 Sox vs [insert location] A's
I'm still a glass half full kind of guy, but it's cold beer and going down fast so hurry up and turn this season around. Sox really need Teel back in the line-up and Antonacci to start hitting. And my pet peeve here - please sit Acuna in favor of Derek Hill in CF.

I understand the idea that the investors at Shore have about building a ballpark on the area that remains on the 78 while providing parking for fans on the East side of the river so fans could walk over the Airline bridge to get to the 78. I have walked over Michigan avenue bridge and other bascule bridges in Chicago hundreds of times but none of those with the big exposed counterweight. IMO, I just don't see that plan making any sense whatsoever (practically, financially, aesthetically or otherwise), but I will defer to others who may have more knowledge and experience in these matters than I do and, of course, to the only person whose opinions really matter. Hate to see this happening after all my years as a White Sox fan. What Bulshit.

That is your opinion. I respectfully disagree.

If the NE intersection of 18th and Canal could be acquired and a few train tracks re-routed, that would be a far superior location to the "78." That intersection is adjacent to the Schoenhofen Brewery Historic District which is on the National Register of Historic Places and one of the highest rated walking areas in the city (there is your "ballpark village"). Also, that would avoid any necessity to walk over a bridge to the "78" or the necessity to deal with Related or Auchi, who I believe is still the owner of that parcel. The shape of that parcel would work perfectly with a new park. The historic site would work well with a retro stadium with the arches and red brickwork reminding Sox fans of the iconic facade of Comiskey Park.

LF arm is really not as important as a RF arm. Just hit the cut-off man. But the reason that Antonacci was brought up was to hit, and thus far, he hasn't. It looks like his timing is way off at the plate or maybe he is over-matched at this level. If so, I admit I was quite wrong about him. Maybe give him another series before sending him back down. Too many non-competitive at-bats in key situations, so he will only have himself to blame if they send him down.

The height of that home run to clear the CF batter's eye was impressive and fun to watch for Sox owls.

I digress for a moment - I know these aren't Superbowl commercials but so far this year there a few that I just don't care for (replacing the original, iconic Dinah Shore version of "See the USA in your Chevrolet) and the sweaty dude squeezing a lemon in a Crown Royal cocktail with his elbow.....ewww.

I loath the prospect of the White Sox moving to the South Loop and abandoning their historic home in Armor Park at the whim of a Billionaire, but hey, I will be long gone when that happens so I should not care. Anyway, as a traditionalist (for example, I despise the proposed Trump Arch which I may live to see) I hope that a lot more thought goes into the design than that which went into Rate Field, or the laughable renderings that Related Development came up with. At least the AI generated rendering from Shore includes a more traditional White Sox stadium. "From the renderings, it looks like the ballpark is still on the 78 site, and the Amtrak site has the ballpark village. Also looks like there's a pedestrian bridge that says "Welcome to the home of the Sox." Yes, that looks to be the St. Charles Air Line Bridge, a bascule bridge with a big counterweight that is on the Amtrak site. The plan (walking over that bridge to get to the park) doesn't do anything for me, but whatever. And I am not sure what "ballpark village" means, but it likely is a commercialized office/retail zone with parking garages. Forget the tailgating /sprawling picnic/ grilling/ beer coolers. Cue Warren Zevon's "Night time in the switching yard."

Steve Cohen (worth 20 Billion) is watering some "green shoots" for the Mets. Cubs bitchspanked his Mets 12-4 today for I think their 9th loss in a row.
