QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) Sullinger averaged 7 and 7 in 23 min in Jan before his back went out. Funny enough his back hurt him enough in his last few games to have surgery. And no, I dont think Morrison would be a dominant force in this years Big Ten. I dont think Olynk would either FWIW. Your opinions are great, I hope to see more of them, however I dont think you've watched enough of Thomas this season. He will be a good bench player in the NBA, thats about it. If he goes undrafted I will be the first to say I am wrong, however thats pretty far fetched as of today. Also I dont look at Chad Ford's lists. They are usually far fetched at this point. I believe he has guys like GR3 as lottery picks. I dont think thats very accurate at this point. Disagree on Morrison. He sucked in the NBA but that guy would have scored in bunches against the Big 10. He scored 43 against MSU, 43 against a really good Washington team with Brandon Roy, 34 against a Memphis team that won 33 games and made the Elite 8, 25 on Maryland, 24 on UCLA, etc.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) Theres alot of top talent and I think it will come out this summer. Okafor as a junior was better than Parker was as a senior. He's really impressive. There are several guards that I think will rocket up the charts. Parker was bad the first few months of the season after coming back from the injury but was easily the best player in the state down the stretch.

QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 08:55 PM) Dear lord was that close, but why are you running a play to give Brook Lopez a 3? The most questionable possession for Brooklyn was when they were up 1 and just isolated Lopez in the post despite the fact that Williams was destroying the Bulls down the stretch. Taking the ball out of his hands there was a really dumb decision.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) Got it. It could be better, obviously we've said that a few years and they havent been all that impressive in college action overall IMO. I am actually more enthused with the next class. Not sure that has been the case. I remember 2008 and 2009 not being highly regarded at a national level and 2012 was not liked at all by scouts. 2010 and 2011 were both considered solid classes but nothing special.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 12:21 PM) Simply not true though. By star avg its not, by McDAA its not. You may want to check out the 2008 and 2010 OSU recruiting classes. How soon we forget. 2011 OSU is right there at a 3.80 star avg with a McD AA on it. That isn't what I mean. I don't think he is referring to IU's 2013 class but the 2013 class as a whole (i.e. Wiggins, Parker, Randle, etc. is better than any class since 2007).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) HUH, one McAA this year, is that what you mean? And where do you get that this is the best class in the conference since then? Based on your view, or based on actual rankings? I believe he is referring to the 2013 class nationally being the best class nationally since 2007. That is actually entirely possible since none of the classes since then have been particularly strong.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 09:51 AM) Since Zeller needs to leave you have three kids with almost zero experience listed there. Usually not the recipe for "nasty." Zeller alone is a damn good frontcourt in modern NCAA basketball but if he leaves IU should be happy if they get decent play out of the front court. Based on his ranking alone I would expect Vonleh to be at least solid for IU next year. Perea got very limited minutes this year but was horrendous when he was on the floor so he needs to make a jump to even be serviceable. I know nothing about Fischer but big men with his ranking are rarely more than serviceable as freshman.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) I basically never played it because it didnt have franchise. Pretty annoying. I didn't buy it because it didn't have franchise mode.

Kevin Ware's injury was easily the most gruesome injury I've ever seen in a basketball game.

Jim Boeheim on Indiana last night: "They never really succeeded in getting the ball in the right places," Boeheim said about the Hoosiers. "And it's not that easy, but it can be done. But they didn't know how to do that."

Devin Langford also to transfer. Lots of scholarships opening up for Illinois.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) His inner circle shouldn't be happy with the way he has developed since his JR year in HS. Really since his freshman year of high school IMO. He just isn't very good at basketball right now and if you are a big man who couldn't get any time on this years Illinois team you just aren't good enough to be playing for a good Big 10 team.

Mike Shaw is also going to transfer. I had heard that as of last week he had asked the coaches if he could stay and they said yes but I know his inner circle was not at all happy about his playing time.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) If Groce gets Okafor or Alexander, he will change Illinois recruiting forever. He will have done what no other reent Illini coach has done and get a top national player from Chicago. Both could be one and done guys though. Especially Cliff, who seems to be warming up to Illinois. I've said it before. I think Nunn has potential to be a nice Illinois player, but hope fans aren't too excited about Tate. My understanding is that Illinois basically has zero chance at Okafor. However, on Alexander, I've heard that while MSU is still out in front Illinois has made up an incredible amount of ground with him this year and has a decent chance at landing him.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:09 PM) tallest midget. Did the NCAA ever have a Tim Donaghy-esque scandal? I'm not sure there has ever been one that went public but people are kidding themselves if they think that it hasn't happened in college basketball.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) The Patriots going 16-0 is a better streak than the Heat or the Lakers record of wins. It is also better than the Blackhawks. NBA officiating is abysmal. NBA officiating is actually damn good especially in comparison to the travesty that is college basketball officiating.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 01:16 PM) Peter Jok was rated #10 prospect in the country by Van Coleman, and they have Uthoff coming to play next year as well. McCaffery is really turning that program around. Maybe after his freshman year of high school but he definitely isn't ranked #10 in the country right now. If this is the list you were looking at I can guarantee that the list is way out of date. For one thing Tommy Hamilton is the #9 player in the country and his best offer right now is DePaul and he frankly sucks. Austin Colbert who is coming to Illinois and is a very good prospect but no all american is #16 on that list. http://hot100hoops.com/index.php?option=co...&Itemid=117

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) I honestly dont see them competing for a conference title anytime soon. They have an outside shot next year if there are a lot of early departures across the Big 10 which is possible (would require Zeller, Oladipo, Thomas, Harris, Burke, Payne, etc. to all go pro). But their chance of winning the Big 10 would more be a result of the conference being bad than Iowa being really good.

It is comical watching the Lakers' guards try to play defense. They can't stay in front of anyone.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) The 2001 Arizona & 2006 Washington games still annoy me, but its hard to complain after the breaks Illinois got in the 05 Arizona game. Speaking of the 2006 Washington game, two of the officials from tonight (Doug Shows and Gary Maxwell) reffed that game as well. f*** those guys.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 10:28 PM) Biggest issue, in my opinion, is that you're losing 3 players who spread the court very well and bringing in a lot of guys more known for their mid-range game. Not quite sure where the perimeter scoring will come from them the next few years. For all the threes they took DJ and Paul never shot it well from 3. Illinois won't be good next year but Groce will recruit much better than Weber and Hill and Nunn will shoot well from 3 eventually.
