  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 11:01 AM) Bradshaw claims he's playing. I figure he will play which obviously removes Wilson from the equation. I'm leaning Ballard for RB2 and have no leaning at all for who to start at flex.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) He resubmitted his ballot with Indiana at six. In other crazy ESPN rankings though, Katz put butler sixth. Not that it matters at all, but how can anyone possibly justify putting Butler #6 and over Illinois when Illinois killed Butler on a neutral court?
  3. So I made my league's championship game. I need to decide on an RB2 out of the following 3: Leshoure, D. Wilson and Ballard. I am leaning Wilson if Bradshaw is out again. I also need to decide on a flex between the 3 RBs mentioned above plus Blackmon and Maclin. Anyone have any recs?
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 07:54 AM) missed out on the championship by .7 points. I blame the people recommending the Lions D in this thread! Terrible luck there. The Lions D played well, its unfortunate that their offense/special teams gifted the Cardinals 28 points.
  5. I don't have kids but this really hit me hard today. Also, this may not be the right place for this but how the f*** can anyone believe or more importantly worship a god that is all knowing and all powerful when things like this happen. If a god does exist and really is all knowing and all powerful, I say that it can go f*** itself.
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) They can't unless there are transfers, there aren't any available. I realize that. If they are able to get the guys they want there will be transfers though.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 12, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) Yeah, he's got some big ten offers, but when you have one scholarship, that's not who it should be going to, at least not yet. There will be more than one scholarship. They will give out 3 scholarships in the class of 2014 if they can get the guys they want.
  8. So Mike Thomas hired Brian Kelly and Butch Jones at Cincinnati. One is coaching for a national championship at ND and one just go the Tennessee job. This is about the only thing that gives me any hope that Beckman may not end up being the complete disaster he appears to be at Illinois.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) Another coach who was in trouble in the Big10 getting a golden parachute from the SEC. What is going on. How was Bielema in trouble? I know you don't love the guy but he has three straight Rose Bowl appearances. He wasn't going anywhere unless he decided to anytime soon.
  10. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 12:10 AM) Meh. Two people that need to start playing better are Noah and Deng. They're our all-stars and they need to play liek all-stars: consistently good. Noah seems to have found a better offensive game but it doesn't show up every night. Deng needs to step up but he's trying to do things he's never been that great at: dribbling, creating, going iso. Yesterday I thought his poor play cost us the game. He let Paul George go off and he caused many key turnovers. Today, while he played pretty well, he's still turning the ball over as much as he's assisting buckets. He's got to play better, a 15 PER (and I know some of you don't like PER) is just not good enough from a guy who is supposed to be our 2nd best player Same can be said for Boozer, but I've given up on Boozer. He's a goner soon any way. So we are just going to ignore your preseason predictions for Hinrich to actually be a good NBA player and blame the Bulls issues on two of the 3 or 4 guys on the team that have actually played good basketball? Starting caliber Nazr Mohammed looks awesome btw.
  11. It makes me sad that the Bulls could have had OJ Mayo for the same price as Kirk Hinrich. Instead of having a 25 year old SG with upside who has played extremely well this year we signed a guy who was clearly declining and has been amongst the worst players in the NBA. Awesome.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) If you cant take the heat at Wisconsin, go to Arkansas with unrealistic SEC championship dreams? Especially when he has no chance of surpassing Alabama while Saban is there or LSU and Texas A&M is going to be much better than Arkansas for at least the time period that Manziel is there. Add in a Mississippi program that is recruiting very well right now, Miss St. with a solid coach in Mullen and an Auburn program that is generally strong and he really has his work cut out for him.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) Maybe he thinks he can rule that side of the SEC? Not sure other than the HUGE raise. The coaching and talent pool he will face in the SEC is a hell of alot deeper than the Big Ten. The side of the SEC with Alabama and LSU? Yeah, good luck with that.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 01:45 PM) Illinois at 14 (ap) and 13 (coaches) Beat Gonzaga and they're top 10 next week. Probably ranked too high right now but I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts.
  15. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) Yeah, you can't lose to Iowa without a halfway respectable win and cry about going to a BCS game. If NIU gets to a BCS game, it's just another example of how f***ed up the system is. NIU isn't good, let's move on. Agreed. NIU lost to Iowa and Kent St. lost to Kentucky by over 30. The MAC has no business getting a BCS slot.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 10:22 AM) Yeah, f*** that article. Both Weber and Zook were spinning wheels. This entire email/article/post completely ignores the fact that Zook was an awful coach and lucked into that Rose Bowl. His players rarely showed progression throughout a season, and the team for sure didn't. The weakest link in the entire team was special teams, Zook's supposed forte. He benefited from crazy good recruiters to get athletes, but they never were coached properly. Since 2005 Illinois has had just as much talent (if not more) than every team in the Big Ten, but it resulted in barely anything. I think Illinois CAN be the next Wisconsin - an annual contender for the Rose Bowl. There's no reason they can't be better than Northwestern, Purdue, Minnesota or Michigan State. It's a basketball school sure, but once the ball gets rolling fans come out and the support becomes huge. I was at that ASU game last year and you could feel the energy in the stadium was like the 80's and early 90's when Illinois was a good program. Zook was never able to capitalize on the success, just like Weber. If Thomas was hired because he was willing to fire them both, good. They both needed to go and probably should have been shown the door sooner. The weakest link last year was the offense, as it was this year, because Zook hasn't recruited a good offensive player since the 2008 class. His coaching of the special teams was impressively bad though. His 2009 class was very good on the defensive side of the ball but you have to go back to landing Leshoure and Jenkins in 2008 to find a good offensive player. The bottom line is that if you believe Zook's buddy that the season fell apart because he didn't get an extension based on 6 games, then all that does is confirm that Thomas made the right choice in firing Zook. If Zook is so fragile that not getting an extension for a half season of good results against terrible competition than he was never going to be truly successful.
  17. QUOTE (Boogua @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) I'm not sure I buy all the recruiting stuff he said. Zook's 2010 and 2011 classes weren't very good. It looked like he lost some of that recruiting mojo. If this (getting Miles, Morrison, and Brown) were somehow proven to be true I would want to kill someone. His 2010 and 2011 classes were terrible. There are only a handfull of players in those two classes combined that look like they even have the potential to be above average Big 10 players. The 2010 class is absolutely awful outside of Brown and the 2011 class while young does not appear to have a single difference maker. Zook's 2012 class was horrendous as well when he got fired. We may have kept Brown if Zook stays (hard to say for sure because the reason we got him was that we offered his brother who isn't good but Louisville did the same thing to land them) but I don't buy that they were going to get Morrison or Miles for a second. It is nice that Zook's buddy thinks they were but Morrison and Miles both committed to programs before the 2011 season even started and before Zook's job was in jeopardy. Those guys weren't coming to Illinois if Zook gets an extension.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) And the Spurs are getting "sanctions" for this, really? Absolutely ridiculous. They aren't losing games on purpose, they are just making sure their guys stay healthy and fresh over the course of the season. There is nothing wrong with this.
  19. http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com...ssouri-is-over/ Dixon dismissed from Missouri.
  20. Terrible luck for Illinois tonight. Georgia Tech playing good defense but a bunch of terrible shooters are making 3s for them right now.
  21. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 10:57 AM) Three... Are you forgetting Elston or discounting the minutes for Jurkin? I don't think either will regularly log more than 5-10 minutes. I really think it will be February before we see them hitting on all cylinders, barring any further injuries. It will take time for the three big guys to meld into the lineup. The word that describes IU to me is unselfish. As good as they look, the Big Ten is loaded and it should be a crazy and fun conference season. I'm not sure how good MSU and OSU will be, but I'm pretty sure they can be as good as anyone. And Michigan has looked fantastic. I'd like to forget about Illinois, but while they are 7-0, I can't do it. I don't think they belong with those top 4 teams, but they've been a helluva lot better than I thought they would be. Illinois can beat anyone in the conference on a given night but the frontcourt isn't good enough to be a threat to any of those 4 over the long haul. Unless the light goes on for Egwu, and I think that is at least a year away, we just aren't going to get enough production inside and our rebounding isn't good enough to really be a true threat to finish in the top 4 in the conference this year with how strong the league is.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) Funny thing is Stanford with their new QB might be the best team in the country now. Until anybody proves that they can play with and beat the SEC's best I'm sticking with that conference.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 11:21 PM) Yep, just a terrible set of offensive calls by the goal line. Once it got to 3rd down, might as well do the fade again and draw the PI. Fake the fade and run a slant, the DB was overplaying the fade significantly on the last play and they had man to man coverage. No way that guy stays in front of Lee.
