  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 11:19 PM) What do you want from him? He threw on first down two times in a row. His team got to the one-yard line. Your offense has to be able to get that. His team has been stuffed on the goal line running the ball all night. You have amazing wide receivers. Keep throwing, it isn't like ND has stopped that all night. And you are making it easier for ND to stop the run when you only have 1 WR on the field and let them go all out to stop the run.
  2. Lane Kiffin is a terrible football coach. Unbelievably awful clock management here.
  3. So remember when Kirk Hinrich was going to average 12 and 7? LOFL. Guy is absolute trash.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) What does his recruiting class look like? If it is bad, they are probably going to fire him in a year or two anyway, so cutting their losses makes sense. But if they do that, shouldn't the AD go with him? Common sense would seem to indicate you wouldn't want the guy responsible for this hire be responsible for the next. The class is solid right now. Who knows if you keep those guys after this season though.
  5. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) I don't think you can know right now that he's not the guy, but I don't really want to start that argument. I'm just saying that if I were an up and coming coach, I wouldn't touch Illinois with a thirty-nine and a half foot pole right now. I think you can. This team has some serious talent deficiencies but the play calling was horrendous all year and the lack of discipline on this team was astonishing. And I'm not just referring to penalties. Watch the defense and offense closely and it is amazing how often players are out of position or miss their assignments. We also are in week 12 and are still completely unorganized in getting plays relayed to the defense and offense.
  6. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) I'm just saying that firing Beckman means 4 straight bad to terrible recruiting classes... It'd be tough for anybody to succeed in that scenario. If you wait to fire Beckman until after next year you won't be in a different situation. A new coach would have just as good of a chance at keeping this class together as Beckman will at this point.
  7. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 02:31 PM) Who would be dumb enough to take the job? Meh, college coaches tend to be pretty confident individuals and if a guy is getting 5 or 6 times his current salary he will take a shot. I wouldn't be looking at current D1 head coaches because we won't be able to get anyone good from those ranks, look to assistant coaches like Monken from Oklahoma St. or coaches from the lower ranks that are proven winners and go that route (if OSU was willing to hire Tressel there is no reason Illinois can't take a similar approach). There are a lot of capable coaches out there, go out and find one.
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) 2nd sideline interference penalty of the year. If there is a better summary of our season then Beckman on his ass butt-scooting off the field after he's penalized, please show me. He shouldn't get a second year. This team only has a handful of good football players but it is incredibly obvious that Beckman is a bad football coach.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 11:16 PM) Yeah. Bo Ryan is really screwing Wisconsin right now. Hes letting a bunch of jokes jack up 3s when Sam Dekker is maybe the most talented player that has ever stepped on a Wisconsin basketball court. Might be higher ranked but I doubt that kid is more talented than Devin Harris.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) It should be penalty, but not negate the automatic review. I would have it be a 15 yard penalty plus a loss of a challenge. The fact that the play wasn't automatically reviewed yesterday was absolutely ridiculous. Schwartz has to know the rule but at the same time that rule is just remarkably stupid.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) I really don't get what isn't reviewable about that. See my post above. Touchdowns are automatically reviewed but if you throw the flag before the review it is not reviewable and the automatic review no longer happens.
  12. So apparently Jim Schwartz throwing the flag negated the automatic review. Horrible rule but called correctly.
  13. How did that touchdown possibly count? He was clearly down.
  14. So my one weakness this year on my fantasy team has been QB play so I'm taking a flyer on Kapernick. If the 49ers are smart they continue to start him and I think he will be a decent fantasy option. If not I'm back in the same boat I started in which is relying on the awful fantasy duo of Rivers and Cutler.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 11:23 PM) You can do what the 49ers did which is come out with multiple sets in the backfield to keep the defense off guard. You can throw quick passes on first down, you can call plays to take advantage of outside pass rushes. You dont just simply keep lining up and doing the same thing over and over again. Hard for me to rate any of the OL individually when they dont even try to make it difficult to pass rush. Yeah, average NFL linemen get thrown 5 yards into the backfield on a consistent basis. It doesn't take much to see that this offensive line is garbage.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 11:14 PM) This is what happens when your coach thinks that average players can handle all-pros 1 on 1. At some point you have to use a TE to chip or do something. Its criminal that they just leave these lineman out to dry. Calling these linemen average is an insult to average NFL football players.
  17. Gabe Carimi shouldn't be allowed on the plane home to Chicago tonight.
  18. Not a single player on this offensive line should be back next year.
  19. Carimi is a joke. Absolutely terrible football player.
  20. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) They also draft OL's in the first round. That's the difference. To be fair, the Bears have drafted 2 OL in the first round in the last 5 years. They just suck at drafting in the first round and Williams was a f***ing disaster and Carimi has followed suit so far.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) These routes need to be much faster and shorter, Campbell has no time to throw. Campbell barely even got to drop back on that last play. The entire left side of the line got blown up.
  22. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) You see most of the time when Cutler is on his ass or running for his life the analyst are too busy talking about pouting Jay. The line is and has been a problem. This arrogance of well coach tice can make any line work is horses***. Draft and spend money on an OL. Not just slow fat guys who are not all that quick on the uptake. It would also help if the offensive linemen they draft in the first round were actually good. Lol at the offensive line on that last sack. Campbell had no chance.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) How the hell did Jason Campbell compile a career 83 QB rating? He looks like a conservative version of Caleb Hanie. We should have signed Orton in the off-season instead. He looks terrible and that was a bad play by him but that was also a horrendous route by Hester that looked even worse on replay.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) These type games are why Lovie Smith should be shown the door, this has happened way too often on his watch against good teams. Bears beat bottom feeders fine, but good teams forget about it! LOL. My god are Bears fans stupid at times.
