Galarraga perfect game broken up by umpire
QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) Nope, I have sympathy for Joyce. I didn't for West, but Joyce just blew a call at the wrong time. It is the human element of the game that makes me love baseball, unlike football where you can get away with some bulls*** because of a replay. The day they start inserting instant replay in the MLB is the day that I want instant replay in little league, high school, college, and the minor leagues, or I will advocate for a system where there are no human umpires, and just a computer for the manager to beat the s*** out when he's either dead wrong or just being a f***ing son of a b****. Overturn the last out, and give Joyce props for admitting he had done something wrong, unlike that fat f*** West who just sat there and shot fighting words back at Buehrle and Guillen. So to open up a new can of worms, we can't hate the Cubs or their fans? Their stupid fans really have issues with any negative comment that I direct towards them this year, and it is becoming ridiculous. I don't give two s***s about teams other than the White Sox, and I certainly don't think that Joyce should be suspended for this, just because of the high profile nature of this call that he blew at the wrong time. I am the first to say that while I don't love baseball, I am an umpire. An IHSA patched official, and each day, I learn something new about the game. So I suggest that Hawk (screw you Hawk, I can't stand your b****ing during the broadcasts) and the rest of those morons who b**** about balks at the game maybe read what the rules are in baseball or put the pads on and umpire a game yourself. Seriesly. What the hell are you talking about in this post. "unlike football where you can get away with some bulls*** because of replay"? What does that it even mean? And I will never understand why people find it preferable to have a human element to officiating in sports and have officials consistently get calls wrong. With that said baseball umpires for the most part do a very good job and I really don't think replay in baseball is practical. If a ball is called foul when it was really fair what do you determine the result to be? Do you give them a base hit automatically, is it the umps judgment call, etc? Even worse would be close plays involving whether a ball is caught or not, the umps call completely changes how those plays play out and replay doesn't solve this problem.

This is the least shocking news ever. But I'm sure Calipari and ESPN will just pass this off as beyond his control since ESPN refuses to criticize him. I'm sure its just coincidence that he has had two final fours vacated and is now looking at a 30+ win season and an elite 8 being vacated.

How about boxing the f*** out when Kobe throws up junk. That is twice this playoffs that the Lakers have won when Kobe took terrible shots and his teammates bailed him out.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 26, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) The problem is what is the whole scheme? It's a very basic story about a people that come together after a tragedy and then eventually all die and leave for heaven or whatever together. The told that story via their experiences on a mysterious island. I think people are way over thinking things. Blogs and the internet spread the greatness and wonderfulness of Lost as some show about all these things that were going to be linked together and connected. I get that. But that's not the writers fault that people like Doc Jensen took a couple of interesting props (like books or cd's or whatever) and ran with it. Bulls***. Of course it is the writers faults because they realized a large percentage of people were watching Lost for the mysteries and unraveling of the mysteries which is why they ended basically every episode with a cliffhanger and some new mystery for people to obsess over. As a result they kept digging themselves a deeper and deeper whole with respect to the mysteries of the island and then couldn't find a way to tie it together. People sure as hell weren't obsessing over Kate becoming a mother or whether Jack would become a man of faith.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) I agree. Not everything really mattered in the whole scheme of things. The problem is that basically nothing that happened on the island mattered in the whole scheme of things.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 23, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) They don't need a scientific explanation for how everything works. There can be magical elements. But we don't even know the fundamental purpose of things or major motivations. Agreed, spending 5 years building up the mythology of the island to basically answer nothing about the island is ridiculous. As was spending half of a season on the characters fakes lives in purgatory when it was completely irrelevant to the plot and not remotely creative.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 23, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) Haha. Alternate endings are pretty funny. The funny thing is they have as much relevance to the plot of lost as the actual ending.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (GREEDY @ May 23, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) I loved the ending. The show got weak in seasons 5 and 6 when it felt like the writer's were explaining the show to a five year old. Lost was best when it was more mystery than sci-fi; I am happy that the ending left things up to interpretation. What about that ending was open to interpretation? They all died at some point and then at the end once they remembered their real lives and reconnected with the others from the island they passed on. The entire thing just feels like a giant cop out to me.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 23, 2010 -> 10:51 PM) It's funny because the big reveal at the end didn't explain the driving force of all 6 seasons (the f***ing island) it just explained away a plot twist that was introduced in the final season. Introducing purgatory at the beginning of the final season and eventually explaining it in the finale as the "big reveal" was a convenient way to get out of coming up with an acceptable explanation for the crazy powers of the island. The ending makes me feel like I wasted six years on this show.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 23, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) But honestly, would there be any answer that was truly satisfactory for why the island was controlled by a magic light at it's heart that was held in check by a stone cork? Pretty much anything would be better than that abomination of an ending.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 23, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) I think the end when the credits rolled was supposed to be showing the plane Sawyer and et al was on crashed. And I guess we are to assume they were dead. The alternate universe was just heaven??? I think the alternate universe was basically purgatory and then at the end they were going to heaven.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 22, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) If I'm the Lakers, I'm extremely worried about facing the Celtics right now. The Celtics are the one team in the league that has every single ingredient required to match-up with and beat LA. And I don't know what the hell Fisher/Farmer is going to do with Rondo. Kobe's going to have exert quite a bit of energy defensively. And even with that you're opening the door for Ray Allen to have a big series. A hot/healthy Celtics team was the worst, and most unlikely, scenario for the Lakers. Agreed and most importantly with Perkins, Garnett, Wallace and Davis they actually have the size to go up against that Lakers front line.

Jeff Jordan transferring from Illinois and I couldn't be happier. But at least his dad was somewhat helpful to recruiting.
