Adam Morrison just banked in a three to put Gonzaga up by 2 with 2.5 seconds left. What a lucky shot. -

QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) doesn't everyone just love J.J. Redick? It would help if Texas knew how to play defense. Plus, typical of Duke games, the refs aren't allowing them to play physical at all against Redick yet, Duke grabs and holds constantly without fouls being called. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Nice little saturday... Illinois/Oregon I'm a little worried about this game tomorrow. Illinois is without a doubt much better than Oregon, but the game being Portland just two days after the Georgetown game is concerning. The tough travel schedule along with the fact they have been playing a lot of games lately could lead to some fatigue. -
QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) Btw, i believe rodman> pippen defensively that is not even including their rebounding skills. I know someone will bring up pippens steals but believe it or not steals and blocks look good in the box score but they are only about aquarter of the game defensively imo. Thats what made those Bulls teams so great. Obviously they had the greatest player ever in Jordan who could take over a game like very few others. He was a dominant scorer, and then Pippen was a pretty good offensive player as was Kukoc. And then of course you had great role players who played their role to perfection. However, the best part about those teams were their defense. They had three of the best defenders of that generation in Rodman, Jordan, and Pippen. I would rate Pippen the best of the three because he had the most versatility. I still remember him guarding both Kemp and Payton in the 96 Finals. Rodman was one of the best low post defenders of all time. Which is unbelievable considering he wasn't exactly the tallest or strongest of players. But his use of positioning is unmatched. And then you have Jordan who is probably one of the best on the ball defenders of all time when he wanted to be.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I agree with a lot of your sentiments. The one thing i will say is that while Smith's average is propping his average, he hasn't gotten many minutes thus far. Given minutes, he could become a good scoring option and open up the court for everyone else. You can only base a scoring average off of how many minutes you play. The guy can shoot the ball, and has all year. I think Randle will eventually become our '3rd' scoring option, but only time will tell. If he has a respectable outside and inside game (shoots well) he'll be tough to stop. When Jamar plays he scores, it is really that simple. And now that his defense is improving he will probably see a lot more minutes. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) So Bail, the Squawks, and Indiana all lose to mid majors in the same night?? Hilarious. Actually I guess St. Joe's isn't a mid major now that I think of it. But still funny. KU this season 3-4, Illinois in their last 63 games 59-4, that is all. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) f***ing pathetic. 20+ turnovers. We'll be lucky to beat Kentucky. Kentucky isn't that good of a team this year. Borderline top 25 top team. -
Should Jamar Smith start over Rich McBride?
whitesoxfan99 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) McBride just hasn't show me that much offesively, but he is good defensively. Smith has been huge offensively, but is a Freshman and lack experience and isn;t too great on D. So what is it? Rich was playing with a slightly pulled hammy and before the last couple of games was our most consistent player. Let Jamar continue to be our Vinnie Johnson off of the bench for the time being. And Jamar's on the ball D has improved tremendously in a short amount of time, his off the ball D is still bad though. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) Washington wins 99-95 Morrison missed a 3 to take the lead, then they missed the put back, then had to foul and Wash hit both. Defense is going to be Gonzaga's achilles heel all season. They can score and Morrison is probably the best player in the country, but they can't stop anyone. You don't win championships or advance deep in the tourney without playing defense. -
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) wasn't he the best pitcher in baseball in the 2nd half? No, that was Johan Santana. But Contreras was the Sox best pitcher in the second half and did look like ace material.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) Gonzaga has shown zero ability to stop Washington on the defensive end of the court...but they are still in the game. 72-69 with 10 minutes left... It would be nice to see one of these teams actually play defense for even a posession or two but its been an entertaining game to watch. -

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) I am starting to see why Illini fans hated Self's on court coaching. I know this team is young, but for god's sakes play the freshman. They are so talented, but he plays Christian Moody and Jeff I s*** the bed Hawkins. I feel better thank y ou. Rush is playing a ton and he looks good. Chalmers and Downs probably need to see the floor more. Wright has potential and yeah he has potential but I'm not sure he is ready to contribute anything at all this year especially if he is playing PF game. His post up game and post defense is brutal and he can't shoot the basketball at all. -

This event in Indianapolis looks f***ing awesome. I might have to make the trip to Indy for the day even though it is a 3 hour drive from my house. The games of interests to Illini fans would be the 6:00 game between Simeon HS (IL) and North Central (IN) which is a battle of Derrick Rose vs. Eric Gordon. And than the 8:00 game features Proviso East (IL) vs. Lawrence North (IN). Proviso East has Illni C commit Brian Carlwell vs. Ohio St. commits Greg Oden and Mike Conley. Carlwell will probably be outplayed but it should be an interesting game. Some other big time players at listed at the bottom. Edit: forgot the link LINK -
