QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) Playoffs last year? Sorry, I've never felt making the playoffs in the NBA is really that great of an accomplishment. For recent Bulls teams it is and I'll give him some credit for that, but a 1st round exit and right back to mediocrity isn't really leading a team somewhere IMO. Hinrich was the right pick at that slot though and I'm not going to argue otherwise.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) darko, ford, diaw, or west would not have come in and helped the Bulls like Kirk did...Who will be better in the long run remains to be seen... Didn't say they would have. But its not like Hinrich has led the Bulls anywhere although that obviously isn't his fault.

QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) Or because he plays 42 minutes a game shoots 48%... shoots a similar percentage on threes... seven rebounds per game... 6.5 assists per game ( same as hinrich)... he turns it over once more per game but he has the ball in his hands nearly twice per game because of their offense... third in the league per points... 1.63 steals + .88 blocks per game. The dude has an all around game. His defense is not top notch but that is because he gets lazy defensively at times because he goes so hard on the offensive side of the floor. To say he doesn't play defense is moronic... but you are content with arguably the worst player out of the first seven picks. Lebron's defense could be absolutely amazing if he ever commits to it. And he already is one of the best offensive and all around players in the league. Anyone who doesn't see that is crazy. But you can't make an argument that Hinrich is the worst of the 7 picks as Darko as played about 3 minutes in his career so far. But obviously Hinrich is not at the level of Carmelo, LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Kaman is looking great lately. Probably would but Hinrich 6th, and there are players taken behind him who are either at his level or above him in TJ Ford, Boris Diaw, and David West. Out of all the years to not have a top 5 draft choice.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) You only see LeBron on the tube, b/c he makes highlight-reel plays. People want to see power jams, alley-oops, these kind of things. I'm glad we have Hinrich ^^^Is he being serious?

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=169&p=9&cfg=bb&c=8&yr=2006 That's a list of the commits. The prospects at this point are Leon Freeman and Ramar Smith, both 6-4 SG from Michigan, though they both have grade issues. Patrick Beverley 6-2 SG from Marshall in Chicago (though he and his coach have been upset with Weber for not making an offer yet). That's just off the top of my head. Weber could still bank the scholarship and use it next year, and I have no idea if Weber is recruiting an Junior College guys (I think that recruitment usually picks up in April though I could be wrong about that). Hope that helps. Patrick Beverley is not an option and I for one am glad about that.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) What did I miss? .5 seconds were on the clock and Gonzaga had the ball. They inbound the ball but the clock never starts and to make matters worse, St. Mary's got called for a foul on what was a clean block and Gonzaga won the game at the FT line. What pisses me off even more is that the ref who made the call was standing 25 feet away from the play. -

Bulls***. I'm so sick of games tainted by bad officiating. There is an epidemic of this lately. -

Refs from the FSU-Duke game on Saturday got suspended LINK FSU got screwed bad on that call. Shelden Williams got fouled pretty hard, gets up and gets in the FSU players face who does nothing but back away and he gets a T for it which of course was his 5th foul. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Sometimes, you just need to make sure you outscore the opposition. Unless you are playing Duke and they get to shoot 30 more FTs then you do and get to hammer your player at the end of the game without getting called for it. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) - I still get a laugh when Illini fans think James Augustine is going to be a first round pick. There's not much of a market for power forwards who can't shoot from outside 5 feet, can't create their own shot, and still haven't learned to play defense without fouling. - Bruce Weber.....you play to win the game! I couldn't believe how passive the Illini were last night in the final 10 minutes. Penn St. could have won by more if they didn't miss 3 layups in the last 4 minutes. Agree on point 1. I'm going to have such mixed feelings on his career. Very good player and great rebounder who just never had the attitude to be great and never lived up to his potential As for point 2 I don't think Weber had his best night coaching, but the players got extremely tight and they were playing scared. Augustine wanted nothing to do with the ball, Jamar didn't want to shoot, and Randle wouldn't drive. Rich and Dee were the only ones willing to shoot the ball at all. The one problem this team has had this season is a lack of consistent intensity which really bugs me. Last night they got the big lead, let up completely on D, Penn St. shot the ball incredibly down the stretch and it looked like we didn't care. But a lot of credit to Penn St., they made plays and got every loose ball, and they hit the boards a lot harder than we did. Now somebody wake me up and tell me that game never happened. -
I'm sure this has been posted, but this a clip from Conan O'Brien showing one of the best Texas Walker scenes ever. I laugh every time I see this.College Humor

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Here is something interesting from the UCLA Bruins message boards. This story was posted on Bruin Nation: "The story has been going around today that ESPN the Magazine has "outed" former ESPN personality and recruiting guru Tom Lemming as a Notre Dame shill. The excerpt comes from an article on Rivals top 10 player and all-everything cornerback Myron Rolle, a highly regarded player who is also making a name as one of the most well spoken and articulate 5* recruits to ever come down the pike. And it reads as follows: "Tom Lemming is a huge Notre Dame guy," Myron says. "He kept saying to me, `You know they have a great coaching staff. You know Charlie Weis is Mr. NFL. You're an academic guy. That place is for you.' Then he killed Florida State. He said, `You're stupid if you go there.' Um, okay. Thanks." The article is raising eyebrows across the internet, which surprises me, because outing Tom Lemming as a Notre Dame shill is like outing me as a guy who likes cookies. Lorenzo Booker made exactly the same accusation (about Lemming, not me), but he didn't have a 4.0 GPA, and he was going to FSU and enough people were able to write it off as "typical loudmouth Seminole ... probably got @#%$ 'cause Lemming dropped him in the rankings."" Link to a radio interview with Booker and Lemming. Lemming is a toolLINK

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Its not just the big men. The guards play the same style of defense. Wojo won a phony defensive player of the year award off of it. Opposing PG's would complain after games about scratch marks covering their arms from Wojo, Ed Cota showed the media one game with scratch marks all over his arm. People just have to get used to it apparently, there is the way ref's call Duke games, and everyone else in America. I agree. Their guards are allowed to put their hands all over the players they are guarding. I remember the Texas game, Redick was putting his hands all over the guy he was guarding, gave him a shove and no foul. Next time down the court, the short white guy guarding him bodied Redick up and there was an immediate call. Not to mention that the refs let Coach K intimidate them and never T him up despite the fact he swears at them and belittles them constantly. And yes it is pretty easy to read his lips when he is saying "f*** you" -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) Part of that had to be by design. Horner had been brutal so far this season from the field. On any other night, it would have been a great idea to let him take 10 wide-open 3's. I'm sure it was but after a guy starts hitting a few threes you have to make him put the ball on the floor. Horner had hit like 6 threes, Purdue cuts it to one and they still backed off when he hit that three to put Iowa up 6. That is just dumb basketball.
