  1. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) i was encouraged to read that both of these guys played well, particularly since neither were particularly high-rated prospects, and both have been used to support the old "bruce weber can't recruit" argument. if these guys turn out to be solid contributors this year, people might have to give credit where it's due. that said, it was an exhibition game against illinois wesleyan. i will withhold my excitement until they play well against some legitimate D1 teams. To be fair the Weber can't recruit argument is mostly the fact that he hasn't landed highly ranked guys. The guys he has brought in do look like players and how the gurus missed on Jamar is beyond my comprehension. When he puts on some muscle and learns to play defense we have something very special. As for Chester I like him because he plays tough D and handles the ball well, although he is pretty limited offensively at this point, but for a backup PG he is fine. Edit: Boy do I wish that McBride could actually get healthy. I'm starting to think he is going to have feet problems his entire career at UI.
  2. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) The Jazz are about to beat the Mavericks tonight. Great win Jazz! Deron is a stud
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) The score announced the starters being Hinrich, Duhon, Nocioni, Songalia, and Chandler.... If the starters can do their job we will dominate them with our 2nd unit with Deng, Gordon, and Sweetney.... we are 4-0 vs the Bobcats cant ruin that now That starting lineup is going to have a very difficult time putting the ball in the basket
  4. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) No player on the Bulls roster excites me... They're still my favorite team, but I'll agree that I'm not all thet excited either. Despite what they did last year, I want to see them do it again now that they have some sorts of expectations before I'll say I'm completely buying into the Bulls. If Tyson Chandler can actually stay healthy I think he will have a huge year on the glass and defensively and that excites me quite a bit. Whether or not he can stay healthy is a huge question though.
  5. Great game in Phoenix. Jason Terry just hit a floater at the buzzer to send it to double OT
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) The NBA has fallen off so much it's not even funny. Usually by now, I am in full Bears/Bulls mode but with the Sox WS and all, I lost interest in the Bulls. I will still watch and still root but the NBA is going down the drain. How it the NBA going down the drain? I just laugh when people make these kind of comments.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) http://www.madison.com/tct/sports/general/...d=40294&ntpid=2 I think what you have here is One program (Illinois) who got caught, and didnt really do any attempt to cover it up. Then you have another program(Ohio St) who got torched by one of their own in Clarett. The only big problem here is that Clarett has little to no credibility, he is a proven liar, and a silver spooner who expects everything to go his way. Ohio St did an impressive job of damage control, switched the main focus to the improprieties going on in their basketball program, which could be blamed on a coach who was already gone. Troy Smith was suspended for taking $500. He missed a bowl game because of it. Remember that Clarett guy missing essentially the rest of his college career? yeah, thats punishment You should not write this.... .....And follow it with this^^ It makes your argument sound like a sour grapes/rivalry argument. AJ Hawk isnt involved in this at all. It doesnt take a genius to figure out that most, if not all, major programs pay players to come play at their school. The coaches play mad games of hide the ball when the auditors come looking, and sometimes they just cant cover up everything that these 18 year olds with superstar power and fame do with their considerable time off. The difference in these situations I see is that Ohio St came out and admitted their problems(admittedly, after they were about to get 'outed'), and Illinois got caught. Illinois did the investigation and turned themselves in to the NCAA. Mason is no longer a member of the Illini as he was kicked off of the team.
  8. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) 2K series has been rated higher than Live in every video game magazine for the past few years, for whatever that's worth. Thanks, I'll probably go pick that up tomorrow.
  9. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) NBA2k6 is a very good game in my opinion. I haven't been a big fan of the games of the past because drafting people really sucked. But this year its really improved. Now you can scout the guys, and even play as them in practices or have them go 1 on 1, 2 on 2, or 5 on 5 against players on your team. I'm enjoying it alot. Speaking of which would you suggest NBA 2K6 or NBA Live?
  10. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) BS. beltran's an outfeilder, PK's an infeilder. PK's performance this year in general has shown that he's way more valuable than beltran. This year Konerko was more valuable than Beltran, career wise that just isn't the case. Their career numbers at the plate are similar Beltran is .282/.350/.479 and Konerko is .279/.349/.488 however, Beltran is also a terrific centerfielder and is great on the base paths. Konerko is a good 1B and one of the slowest players in baseball. I fail to see how Konerko is way more valuable than Beltran Edit: I do think we need to bring Konerko back if possible
  11. LINK Guenther's response to the NCAA's decision. The NCAA is a f***ing joke by the way
  12. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) I grabbed by girlfriends leg and said, World Series Champions. This was after she watched EVERY SINGLE out with me. I'm thinking shes a keeper. How did you react? I immediately called home and talked to my dad and brother
  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Notice that the fans down the left field line allowed Uribe a chance. Probably not true in other venues. To tell you the truth I would have gone for the ball for sure, to make the catch more difficult
  14. What a great feeling. Between the Sox magical run to winning the WS and the UI basketball season this has been the best by far the most fun I've ever had being a sports fan. White Sox are the f***ing World Series Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. World Series Champs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
