  1. What an incredibly dumb basketball team
  2. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) Can anyone tell me what happened? Jazz missed a shot, Luol Deng decided to be a moron and turned the ball over. Then Okur hit a 3 to take the lead.
  3. That was a dumb shot by Gordon and an even dumber foul on Songaila. 106-104 bulls now
  4. Refs from the FSU-Duke game on Saturday got suspended LINK FSU got screwed bad on that call. Shelden Williams got fouled pretty hard, gets up and gets in the FSU players face who does nothing but back away and he gets a T for it which of course was his 5th foul.
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) Ugh. That was ugly. He's not coming back. Back in the game already
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) Ugh. That was ugly. He's not coming back. That looked pretty bad, hopefully there is nothing seriously wrong with his back or neck.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Sometimes, you just need to make sure you outscore the opposition. Unless you are playing Duke and they get to shoot 30 more FTs then you do and get to hammer your player at the end of the game without getting called for it.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) - I still get a laugh when Illini fans think James Augustine is going to be a first round pick. There's not much of a market for power forwards who can't shoot from outside 5 feet, can't create their own shot, and still haven't learned to play defense without fouling. - Bruce Weber.....you play to win the game! I couldn't believe how passive the Illini were last night in the final 10 minutes. Penn St. could have won by more if they didn't miss 3 layups in the last 4 minutes. Agree on point 1. I'm going to have such mixed feelings on his career. Very good player and great rebounder who just never had the attitude to be great and never lived up to his potential As for point 2 I don't think Weber had his best night coaching, but the players got extremely tight and they were playing scared. Augustine wanted nothing to do with the ball, Jamar didn't want to shoot, and Randle wouldn't drive. Rich and Dee were the only ones willing to shoot the ball at all. The one problem this team has had this season is a lack of consistent intensity which really bugs me. Last night they got the big lead, let up completely on D, Penn St. shot the ball incredibly down the stretch and it looked like we didn't care. But a lot of credit to Penn St., they made plays and got every loose ball, and they hit the boards a lot harder than we did. Now somebody wake me up and tell me that game never happened.

I'm sure this has been posted, but this a clip from Conan O'Brien showing one of the best Texas Walker scenes ever. I laugh every time I see this.College Humor
  10. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Here is something interesting from the UCLA Bruins message boards. This story was posted on Bruin Nation: "The story has been going around today that ESPN the Magazine has "outed" former ESPN personality and recruiting guru Tom Lemming as a Notre Dame shill. The excerpt comes from an article on Rivals top 10 player and all-everything cornerback Myron Rolle, a highly regarded player who is also making a name as one of the most well spoken and articulate 5* recruits to ever come down the pike. And it reads as follows: "Tom Lemming is a huge Notre Dame guy," Myron says. "He kept saying to me, `You know they have a great coaching staff. You know Charlie Weis is Mr. NFL. You're an academic guy. That place is for you.' Then he killed Florida State. He said, `You're stupid if you go there.' Um, okay. Thanks." The article is raising eyebrows across the internet, which surprises me, because outing Tom Lemming as a Notre Dame shill is like outing me as a guy who likes cookies. Lorenzo Booker made exactly the same accusation (about Lemming, not me), but he didn't have a 4.0 GPA, and he was going to FSU and enough people were able to write it off as "typical loudmouth Seminole ... probably got @#%$ 'cause Lemming dropped him in the rankings."" Link to a radio interview with Booker and Lemming. Lemming is a toolLINK
  11. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Its not just the big men. The guards play the same style of defense. Wojo won a phony defensive player of the year award off of it. Opposing PG's would complain after games about scratch marks covering their arms from Wojo, Ed Cota showed the media one game with scratch marks all over his arm. People just have to get used to it apparently, there is the way ref's call Duke games, and everyone else in America. I agree. Their guards are allowed to put their hands all over the players they are guarding. I remember the Texas game, Redick was putting his hands all over the guy he was guarding, gave him a shove and no foul. Next time down the court, the short white guy guarding him bodied Redick up and there was an immediate call. Not to mention that the refs let Coach K intimidate them and never T him up despite the fact he swears at them and belittles them constantly. And yes it is pretty easy to read his lips when he is saying "f*** you"
  12. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Sweet, Duke getting handed games. Unf***ing real. Shelden Williams is a hack and gets away with it night after night. Must be nice to get the calls in every venue you play in. I wish Illinois big men could play defense like that, we would never lose.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) Part of that had to be by design. Horner had been brutal so far this season from the field. On any other night, it would have been a great idea to let him take 10 wide-open 3's. I'm sure it was but after a guy starts hitting a few threes you have to make him put the ball on the floor. Horner had hit like 6 threes, Purdue cuts it to one and they still backed off when he hit that three to put Iowa up 6. That is just dumb basketball.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) Iowa's defense clamped down in the 2nd half and forced some turnovers and they started protecting the ball. I guess. It was more a matter of Purdue's guards making absolutely terrible passes than anything else. Plus just awful defense on Horner as time after time he came off screens without the big man stepping up to guard him.
  15. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) Smartass So did anybody outside of Dee and James play well? I could obviously look at the boxscore. But that doesn't always tell the whole story. Actually our three best players tonight were Rich, Jamar, and Randle.
  16. Big 10 refs can go suck a dick by the way.
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) Am I the only person not blown away by 'Crash"? I thought it was pretty good but not really Oscar material.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) Ramone Johnson has verballed to Tennessee, per rivals. Not a surprise, but still sucks. Just bring me either Vontae Davis or Duvalt and maybe a mystery verbal and call it a day. Duvalt is an Illni
  19. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) It looks like during half time the refs decided to drink more crazy juice. I hate to complain when it helps Wisconsin, but at some point you just have to say that the game is no longer fun because the refs have so severely screwed it up. This seems to be happening in almost every Big 10 game this year. It is pathetic
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 10:01 AM) Heading out in a few. Sellout crowd. I thought Kansas looked better than they have this year but does Iowa St. have a coach? It looks like they are playing street ball out there.
  21. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Its just hard to project High School players. I mean Courtney Brown was supposed to be a sure bet in the Pros, but never has reached his potential showing that even the jump from college to NFL is often hard to predict. Injuries have been his biggest problem in the pros.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) Illini with a decent win on the road over Northwestern. The game wasn't nearly as close as the score would indicate. Next up: Minnesota, gotta beat them at home The effort for the last 10 minutes was pathetic. They should be embarrased. And Augustine needed a pacifier today.
  23. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) it's difficult to tell how good he is, though, because there are a ton of discrepancies in his ratings on various sites. scout has him as a four-star recruit and the 10th best shooting guard prospect in the nation. rivals had him as a three-star and at 147 overall, but that list was last updated last august. The thing is that a lot of observers in Michigan think he is the best player in the 06 class which includes guys like Ramar Smith, Deshawn Sims, and Tom Herzog who are all highly rated recruits. Getting a guy who might win Mr. Basketball in the state of Michigan is almost always a good thing.
