Team USA 2020 Olympics team has 2 Sox prospects
whitesoxfan99 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in FutureSox Board
To be clear, Johnson and Vaughn are playing in the November Premier 12 event in which the USA can qualify for the Olympics. If the USA qualifies for the Olympics I'm guessing the team next summer will look very different from this one since you will have guys from this team playing in MLB at that time next year, guys knocking on the door who teams don't want to release to go play, guys who have had their play fall off that team USA won't want, etc. -
This. Brady was really good from day 1 and in year 3 as you pointed out he led the NFL in TD passes despite honestly having really weak talent around him at that time. When he finally got weapons around him, the Patriots started changing up their offense and the rules changed his numbers exploded. Roethlisberger was pretty fantastic from Day 1. He was top 5 in quarterback rating in his first 2 years in the NFL (granted he wasn't asked to win games but he was very efficient right off of the bat). And Brees was terrific in his 3rd year as a starter (4th year in the league).

Which current day players are HOF bound?

Horrible take. He hasn't been inconsistent at all. Top 6 in Cy Young voting every year between 2012-2018. His peripherals have been terrific every year of his career (and they are still really good this year). -

No it doesn't -
I hate this idea. I much prefer competitive balance to the European model where only a few teams in each league take all of the top talent and there is no chance for most teams to ever win a title. While there obviously cities and franchises with advantages here, it is nothing like you see in Europe.

Only one of the Heat picks is unprotected but I think but still an incredible haul especially since Shae Gilgeous Alexander was actually really solid last year and Gallinari could actually probably bring back value if they move him. Thunder should definitely look to move Russ and Adams and just go full rebuild mode while accumulating as much draft capital as possible. -

It can (see Kawhi Leonard or Giannis) but it is obviously much less likely picking lower in the draft. -

Lol at a Sox fan worrying about the secondary market being effected. Not really a thing and hasn't been for a long time. -

Yep, you have a champion that won solely because of injuries and now two star players are going to miss all or at minimum most of next year as well. Good for the Raptors to take advantage but always sucks when a team wins a title that way. If there is a silver lining it is that next year might be about as an open of a race as we have had in a long time for the title with these injuries. -
Also, it isn't like these things are necessarily happening in real time.

Send Arya to King's Landing, she kills Cersei, boom war over.

Would it need that much backstory though if he is alive? Palpatine already basically told Anakin in the movies that his master found a way to cheat death so Palpatine could have learned that and then you just need a throwaway line that he has been manipulating Snoke and Kylo to recreate the First Order in the Empire's image at his bidding. There, you have the story telling very quickly. Palpatine is also a really easy way to connect all 9 films together as you have him as the real villain in the shadows while others take center stage (Maul, Count Dooku, Vader, Snoke, Kylo, etc.) take center stage with only really making real appearances as a villain at the end of each saga.

Yeah, I’m in for this. Looks like it will be a blast.

April 10 Gamethread 1:10pm first pitch
whitesoxfan99 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2019 Season in Review
Yep, Rodon post the shoulder injury just isn't electric anymore, Lopez and Giolito have basically sucked other than Lopez's September last year and Kopech and Cease are guys with arm trouble in their past or present so you aren't going to feel great about penciling them in either. -
Top young position players should be hesitant to sign the types of early extensions we are seeing (although I still get why they do because $100M guaranteed isn't exactly easy to pass up. But pitchers that are offered these deals should absolutely jump on them. Sure some guys will be leaving money on the table with how precarious a pitcher's career is it seems like taking the guaranteed big money is almost always going to be the way to go.

And with those guys we are always going to have to worry about Tommy John #2 happening. -
The Orioles are going to lose a ton of games. Holy crap is that roster bleak.

There were tons of warnings signs with Shields. The prior year in San Diego while his K rate still looked good his walk rate went way up and he was giving up a ton of HR despite pitching in a very favorable pitchers park. Then the next year his walk rate with them remained high and his K rate was plummeting. His velocity was also declining.

whitesoxfan99 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The lack of discussion demonstrates how laughably bad this tournament has been. Only a couple of watchable games so far. Also, the Porter family has incredible genes when it comes to basketball talent but they unfortunately clearly also have bad genes when it comes to durability based on the sisters’ constant knee injuries, Michael’s back and now Jontay’s knees. -

I stand corrected. I was quickly looking at his main page on Fangraphs and didn't appear to be a dip on his four seamer or cutter but there was a drop on the sinker which is obviously his most important pitch which I didn't take a close look at. -

He really hasn't had a velocity decline. There are a lot of concerning things about Keuchel but that isn't one of them. -
Who is available in 2020? Looking ahead to the future
whitesoxfan99 replied to BigSexy23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Now we hope that basically every good prospect in the system hits because that is what it will take for the Sox to be good again. Good luck when our top two pitching prospects have already undergone Tommy John surgery and the only position player prospect who really excelled last year among the top guys was Jimenez. -
Hahahahahaahahahahahaha. Yeah, that's going to happen.
