They were some of the most horrid candidates -- spineless, brainless, dumbass sonsofb****es. [and hey, I didn't vote for either of them -- Badnarik all the way]
-
Watched Bulworth yet again. It's one of my favorite movies -- more people definitely need to watch it. And Asshat, Ho-Tep rocks hardcore.
-
I saw about half of Dodgeball with a friend of mine and said "This is crap". It should have been called "Here's the $7 to see this movie since it's a pantload!"
-
Use that hour and a half and watch a good movie -- like A Fistful of Dollars or High Noon.
-
A-men. A-f***ing-men.
-
Just finished "A Fistful of Dollars". It's essentially the Italian/American adaptation of the plot of Yojimbo put into a new setting. Eastwood pulls off a pretty good performance as The Man With No Name. Definitely worth watching.

I absolutely love High Noon. I dunno about best western ever since I'm a fan of the Good the Bad and the Ugly and Fistful of Dollars but High Noon is still really quite awesome. Plus the political undertones of HN are useful for my future history classroom when I start teaching. For anybody that doesn't know -- one of the writers of the film was being targeted by the House Un-American Activities Committee and High Noon puts the writer in the role of the sheriff getting screwed by Hollywood not defending him against the charges (which actually had no real basis in fact) like the sheriff getting screwed by the town with the outlaws coming to get him.

I just got done watching the 1989 version of Batman (with Keaton and Nicholson). I forgot how great a film that was. Nicholson stole that whole damn show for me. And then I watched Sanjuro (1962). If you're a fan of movies like Fistful of Dollars, then you should check it out. Damn good Japanese action film starring the asskicker of all asskickers in cinema -- Toshiro Mifune.

Happy birthday.

Reuters estimates over 12,300 died. -
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/n...10498038.htm?1c SOMERVILLE, Tenn. - Muslims planned to turn an old sod farm near Memphis into a cemetery, but angry neighbors protested, complaining the burial ground could become a staging ground for terrorists or spread disease from unembalmed bodies. Those damn Tennessee Al Qaeda constantly striking there!

Just watched the Japanese Kurosawa classic "Yojimbo" (1961). If you're a fan of "Fistful of Dollars" style Westerns, check this film out. Toshiro Mifune again as the badass asskicker in a really cool story. Then watched "Super Size Me" (2004). My brother hadn't seen it. Another pretty damn good film.

I would love to see the army of the undead Ramones play a few songs.

Speaking of 1960s films, I just got done watching the original Manchurian Candidate with Sinatra. Such a wonderful film. That garden club scene at the beginning is so fantastically filmed. I really wish they could have done something like that in the new one.
-
Just finished "O Brother Where Art Thou". Pretty hilarious. The Coen brothers are great. Such a solid film.
-
The fluoridation of the water supply. You know what's gonna happen if you don't get the President on the line? You're gonna have to answer to the Coca-Cola company.
-
Wait....there's life off Soxtalk? Have a fun and safe trip.
-
You can't fight in here! This is the War Room! ...But he'll see the big board! That movie is so great.

Anchorman isn't even very funny, let alone the funniest movie of the year. Sorry but lame 1 dementional characters are goddamn stupid. I'm getting real tired of Will Ferrell's "Look at me do outrageously stupid things in a vain attempt to be comedic!" Anchorman is the equivalent of "Baby Geniuses 2" and in saying that I mean no insult to "Baby Genuises 2". At least they knew they had no plot and storyline and didnt try so over the top to make things funny. Anchorman, at the end of the day, is a polished turd. Nothing personal, I just hate s***ty movies. And as for best comedy of this year -- Sideways and/or The Incredibles, right off the top of my head kick the Hell out of Anchorman in comedics.
-
Of course. The store had about 800 copies of Dodgeball and Anchorman yet no copies of "Taxi Driver", "Annie Hall", "Fistful of Dollars", "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", "Bubba Hotep" or "Brazil". Too bad it's the only place in like a 40 minute radius from me.

I just saw Napoleon Dynamite as well. One word: Overhyped. It was good but damn were my expectations made too high. And as an aside, I also rented Cool Hand Luke -- I'm in the store searching for it on DVD and I go up and ask "Do you have Cool Hand Luke on DVD?" The woman looked at me like a dog that had just been shown a card trick. She'd never even heard of the film.
