QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 03:55 AM) They have had 5 weeks of hype...they did dark match on raw a week ago and they were getting huge pops during it. I saw a couple old OVW promos for Shad Gaspard -- the HNIC. (Head N***** In Charge) that were pretty badass and pre-Cryme Tyme. From what I've seen, he's no Benoit/Hennig technician in the ring but with this kind of gimmick, he doesn't need to be. I can't wait to see them wrestle finally. The E may actually be serious about tag team wrestling again -- except I am concerned that the Highlanders, Cryme Tyme, Spirit Squad and almost all the Raw tag teams except for Cade and Murdoch are running comedy gimmicks. -

Umm...how about the Army of God and their bombing of medical clinics killing doctors and nurses? Is isn't about specific religions being more violent than another but about the thought-stunting, fascistic qualities of fundamentalism. -
I'd like to see an ALC team win just to make the ALC seem more formidable in the baseball discussion so we could do some damage to the hard-on with the AL East.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) LCR, that post was horrible. Before you start spewing crap on it, let's see what happens. This asshole deserves to get everything he has coming to him. And furthermore, IF this was covered up, those people deserve to get ripped as well. I'm just saying people who have done just as bad and/or worse have been welcomed by the Christian Right. And please tell me that the far-religo nuts like Robertson, Falwell etc. aren't going to turn this nugget into a "See, our culture of Satan's deception can even tempt and destroy a pious Christian conservative man." to somehow spin this as anti-liberal. The man sexually harassed a child and should pay for it with criminal sanctions. But with his connections, he'll likely do little time and (sadly) be welcomed back by the Christian Right who is more interested in theocracy than the actual precepts of their religion. -

Mike -- just a few questions from a Commie liberal union monkey teacher. I looked at Joy Elementary in a Google search. Is the high free/reduced lunch count (57%) and the high mobility rate (33%) normal for the district? If so, you may want to check out this book called Saving Our Students, Saving Our Schools: 50 Proven Strategies for Revitalizing At-Risk Students and Low Performing School. We had the guy come in for a workshop and he has a lot of practical things that can be used. Might be something to look through for the school board run. Have the district schools been meeting AYP? If not, in what areas are they failing? (subject matter and/or racial/educational sub-categories cuz if any sub-category fails, the entire group gets a FAIL) How would you help those groups pass so the schools meet AYP? What would your plan be to decrease class sizes given the current budget that you discussed in Michigan City? Is there a PBIS system in place in schools there? (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) It has different things to reward kids for positive behaviors. Does their system work or is it a whole lot of people saying 'We gotta do X, Y and Z!" and then not follow up at all? -

He'll make some tear soaked, whining sob-story "I was deceived by Satan and the lih-brul media" on the Trinity Broadcasting Network in a few years after getting out of Federal Pound Me In the Ass Prison and become the darling 'prodigal son' of the evangelical Christian Right. They'll probably turn it into a political crusade to stop the Democrats and our downspiraling culture from corrupting good, pious 'Christians' with their boyish good looks and underage homosexual trauma they cause in middle aged male closet case self-loathers. It could be a positive move for the 'culture war' election crap to mobilize the Christian Right base in a few years, assuming this sexually harassing jackass makes his Swaggert-esque mea culpa. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) I signed up in there but have no clue what to watch for. You get points for: http://www.wwe.com/play/fantasy/scoring/ # Television (RAW/SmackDown/ECW) Appearance (+3) # Television (RAW/SmackDown/ECW) Match (+5) # Television (RAW/SmackDown/ECW) Win (+7) # Pay Per View Appearance (+5) # Pay Per View Match (+8) # Pay Per View Win (+12) # All Shows: Win a Championship (+20) # All Shows: Retain a Championship (+8) # All Shows: Participation in a Specialty Match (+3) # All Shows: Winning a Specialty Match (+5) # All Shows: Eliminating an Opponent (+2) # All Shows: Executed/Locked-in Signature Move (+1) # All Shows: Signature Move victory (+4) # All Shows: Signature Move Escape (+3) # All Shows: Foreign Object Shot (+3) # All Shows: Final Match (+3) # All Shows: Disqualification (-4) # All Shows: Suspension (-10) You get $30 million per week and have to make a roster of wrestlers who score points based on the above criteria. Main eventers are the most expensive and others are less expensive ($5 million to $500,000) The team that scores the most points is the winner. The deadline to make roster changes for the current week is Monday at 7 PM (ET). That way nobody can read spoilers etc. -

Justin Credible has been fired from the E for no-showing an ECWWE event. Also, would anybody be into playing a WWE fantasy league on here for the Soxtalkers? http://www.wwe.com/play/fantasy/ Gotta sign up soon and we could create a competitive league. If people are interested in the next day or two, I'll try to create a league on there. Edit: I need peoples' e-mails that are interested cuz that is the way they send out the info. Edit Part Deux: The league is named Soxtalk and the password is orton If you can get in, do it. -

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) Supposedly WWE has told carltio they want him to act more like The Rock. I like the Jannetty the other guy reference. They split up too many teams I would love to see Haas/Benjamin, Sylvan/Conway and some of the others I'm forgetting put back together. Nick 'Eugene' Dinsmore and Conway -- Los Conquistadores, baby! They need the Olympic Tag Team back together again to help push two of the more talented wrestlers. Shelton is languishing with a dumb "They hate me cuz I'm black" gimmick and any time you're paired with Viscera for a storyline, there's probably a few times where you'll be languishing on TV. -- On the Angle front, TNA is doing a good job at keeping him out of the ring until he's all healthy. Oh, it's real. It's damn real. -- And Reefer Rest Hold -- talk about cruising hack. Talk about boring as watching paint dry. Hardy/Nitro is Flair/Funk from '89 comparitively. He's just a bland heel wrestler with nothing to really set him apart -- talent or character. -

I think Bonds just needs some sort of Cochran-esque witty one liner to deflect a lot of the criticism. Sure, he can't use "If the glove does not fit, you must acquit." but how about: "If they were in his system, then he would have pissed them!" -

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) P.S. Jeff Hardy seems to be sucking in his matches. There, fixed that for you. Big Show vs Sandman for the strap and Hardcore Holly vs RVD (extreme rules) tomorrow on WWECW. I had some kids today tell me that ECW sucks. I had to tell them that they weren't old enough to remember "The Night the Line Was Crossed" and the original manifestation of ECW. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Update. My friend Jeff didn't have to take the Cop Killa but did take someting called the Border Toss. Not familiar with LAX to know what that is. Said it was a great experience. My friend Joe got to take 3D. Not sure which week they will air. Border Toss is a running/throwing crucifix powerbomb. I missed the first hour of Raw and I don't even feel bad since I turned it on and found out the main event is "One Armed John Cena vs Lita"... And holy crap, Shelton Benjamin is actually being used! -

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) I'm not really surprised by this. TNA's schedule is so much lighter than WWE. Hopefully he takes some time to heal and get well before he starts up. Gotta admire how well they kept the secret though. 7 people knew + they all had confidentiality agreements. That's how you come through with a big announcement. Granted, it's no Hogan as the 3rd man at Bash at the Beach 1996, but it is quite the shocker and a real payola to majorly built up announcement which hasn't happened often. -

QUOTE(GaelicSoxFan @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Evidently, the Jarrett family has forgotten how Russo drove WCW into the ground. Technically, when Russo had control of creative in WCW, the ratings went up. He lost control for a while due to suit pressure and the ratings went back down. Then he had to dig them out of the hole again...The death of WCW is more on the suits who thought that wrestling was too "low-brow" for TNT/TBS and therefore did whatever they could to get it off more than it is on Russo. -

The Boogeyman won't be coming to get anybody on SmackDown! He's been released from the E because he wasn't making checkups with doctors and the E felt he wasn't giving his all to rehab the injuries. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) Just saw a clip of the Orton RKO that beat Carlito. Pretty neat looking. Carlito tried doing that springboard off the middle rope and Orton caught him mid air. Very smooth. To be fair, he worked the neck down with about 4 billion chinlocks. Why have Orton beat Carlito clean when Orton violated the drug policy? Is the E really that desperate for heels? I have to deal with a bunch of 12-13 year old Cena marks at work. They didn't like it when I said that I like my wrestlers to have charisma, talent, in-ring ability or a great gimmick that they make work and how CM Punk and Samoa Joe would whip Cena in the charisma/talent department. And why is it that ECW stars can't beat Show one on one yet in a handicap match, DX can do whatever they want with Shane, Vince and Show? -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) Reefer Rest Hold - I like it!!! I haven't seen any recaps, did The Ratings Killer really piss on Trish's retirement match? Nothing builds a strong male heel than squashing a female wrestler's goodbye. Ugh. Todd Grisham interviewed Randy Orton backstage. Orton said no one cares about Trish's retirement, unless you're Canadian, which means you have no life. Orton said Trish was the past, he was the future. Orton noted that two years ago he won the World Title here in Toronto. Orton said that Trish is "a b****", and tonight he would "make Carlito his". What a confident, capable heat getting machine he is. -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) Randy Orton as a top heel just goes to show how weak the E is right now. Critic, you could have gotten heel heat in Toronto by calling Trish a b**** and pissing on her retirement match. Hell, Jesus could have gotten heel heat there too by doing that. It's cheap heel heat and it's all Reefer Rest Hold is good at getting. Orton vs Beef Wellington at WM 23. Orton fears the Ass Punch! -

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) sigh...Cena wins the belt back. I don't get it. I thought the idea of him going back to SD would of been good. Duh, we need WWE Champion John Cena in "The Marine". This PPV didn't look too good at all. The Kane/Umaga double count out finish at a PPV. The WWE business plan: 1. Push Cena as a Superman 2. 3. Profit! -
We know that ESPN has a hardon for two of the biggest markets being in the same division. We know that they have had a rivalry for countless decades. Gee, I'm shocked, shocked I say, at this information that ESPN caters to big markets that are geographically close to them? Next you'll be telling me that if you get 3 strikes, you'll strike out in baseball.
