LowerCaseRepublican replied to southsider2k5's topic in SLaM
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:31 AM) Oh, Robertson says that he's the one, [Well he sure is if Armageddon is your idea of family fun An' he's got some planned for you! (Now, tell me that ain't true) --FZ on PR, from the song "Jesus Thinks You're a Jerk." Jim and Pat should take a pole Right up their saintly glory hole With tar and feathers too Just like they'd love to do to you Cuz they think you are bad And they are very mad -
QUOTE(TheDybber @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) What room on the 13th floor? I was in 1307. SE corner. Back in 1990-91, though. I think it was 1301.

Just a few college moves for me. For those at UIUC, it was: to Bromley Hall, to ISR (2x) to an apartment on Clark and then to my current place. The only move that was a pain in the ass was freshman year when Bromley had my roommate (DonkeyKongerko) and I move from the 9th floor to the 13th floor. The staff guaranteed us help...which came only after DonkeyKongerko and I had moved 99.9% of all our crap.

Should have mentioned that the boss was also the owner of the place. Goddamn she was a b****.

http://education-portal.com Just search around there. Should have some info for you. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/m...-0402_brief.php This is a list of supposedly the best schools for broadcast journalism. Dunno how accurate it is.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) i swear to god ozzie sits a guy if he breaks a nail. lets not forget ozzie sat jermaine dye for 4 goddamn games because of bug bites. BUG BITES! i dont care how nasty the infection was, there are guys who go out there and play through alot more than a topical skin infection from a bug bite. i know we dont want to risk players getting injured, but someone could stub his toe and be out a week.........................maybe im just too frustrated right now And if Dye etc. went out there and got injured for a long time, you'd all be saying Ozzie made the wrong decision for not sitting him. Christ, if Ozzie walked on water, I'm sure there would be some Soxtalkers b****ing about how he didn't swim. And with the spider bites, Dye had to be hospitalized for them so it wasn't just "bug bites" as you put it. And IIRC, Southsider or somebody posted a story that discussed how they were trying to clean out the pus etc. of the infected bites which showed that the bites were pretty serious. If he went out and played with them at the time, they would have gotten more infected and he would have missed more time. Add in the fact that he wouldn't be able to slide at the time (since they were where he'd come in contact with the ground on slides), I don't think a man with a bum leg that couldn't slide would be too effective in the lineup. But maybe that's just me being sane, logical and non-retarded here seeing the idea of resting certain players especially when they're too injured to play.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 08:51 AM) I know I didn't use green, but that was a joke. Also I am sure with all of the great and honorable nuclear powers that the UN is allowing into exsistance, terrorists don't need us, I am sure Kim Jung Il, or China, or Pakistan would be more than happy to sell them whatever they need. Let's not forget about Russia -- they've got weapons but they don't know where the f*** they all are.

http://www.salon.com/wire/ap/archive.html?...=D8C3QDN00.html Hunter Thompson, the great writer of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" fame had his ashes fired out of a 153 foot Gonzo fist cannon tonight on his Woody Creek compound. I'm surprised they actually let them do this. And it really makes me like Johnny Depp all the more.

I'm going to be at Murphy's with a few friends of mine most likely so we could all meet up there tomorrow evening if that'd be cool. Just an idea.

http://tylenol.ytmnd.com/ Holy s*** where's the Tylenol? Sounds like the guy who fired you was a grade A douchebag. But just be glad of a few things. My first job was 3 days in fast food. In these three days: I was locked in the freezer Bitten on the leg by the boss's kid Berated for murmuring "Damn" under my breath and not more than two minutes later, the same boss going on a 10 minute profanity laden tirade in front of her kid I got paid $4.66 an hour I was clocked out at 9 pm by the boss but was forced with the other workers to stay there until almost 1 am finishing work related activities (cleaning, etc.) I wasn't fired from there -- I just stopped showing up after she scheduled me for 3 weeks without a day off. After I quit, I found out getting days off from her was a very rare happening.

QUOTE(WSNS-TV44 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) Gene Honda does PA announcing at Hawks games too right?Gonna be interesting when the LA Kings comes to town,and this guy scores or gets an assist! RTFA. He is a goalie. So, I have a feeling that we'll be hearing his name a lot during games, hahaha. -
QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) They took target practice with the El Rukins, Latin Kings and other American gang members. Looks like they learned well, miss your target and kill bystanders. The El Rukins, the only American gang to be convicted of conspiring with a foreign country to commit an attack (it was Libya and a shoulder rocket attack, IIRC) And if you believe World Net Daily, the El Salvadoran (and international) gang MS-13 has assisted AQ in getting nukes into the US. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45203

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) His sentence seems like a slap on the wrist for what he did. I don't care that he will likely be dead before the 40 yrs are up and wouldn't be let out regardless. Life I agree with, but should have been with out any chance of parole. I'm assuming he got the hard 40 for count ten which means he's got 40 years before he has the opportunity for parole. Although the Daily Show had a good comment on this whole thing. All the news reports talked about how egotistical he was/is and how all he wanted/wants is attention. Of course they spent nearly 10 hours talking just about that during the coverage.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) So if he was an ice cream truck driver, do we blame the ice cream? Although I do not believe in blaming music and video games at all either, at least there are very graphic and extreme portrayals of violence, sex, drugs, etc. in them so that blaming them as an influence to such immoral acts would actually make sense. Show me the verse in the Bible that says it's moral and just to bond, torture, and kill someone... 2 Kings 2:23 -- God sends FORTY TWO bears to devour children that made fun of Elisha's bald head. Exodus 17:13 -- Joshua with God's approval commits a mass slaughter. Exodus 32:27-28 -- God condones yet another mass slaughter of 3,000 people. You can even look at the story of Moses where he fights with the Egyptians. God hardened Pharoah's heart just so he could throw out all 10 plagues to prove how powerful he was. Now these are just a few examples off the top of my head. I can come back with more if you'd like later but I do need to get a few things done around my apartment before I go to work today.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) You know, that IS a valid point. If this guy was into Howard Stern or Slipknot or Wes Craven films, people would hop up and down bellowing about how those things should be censored, shut down and thrown off the air. But when a "religious community leader" turns out to be an animal, it's suddenly an individual weakness/sickness. I highly doubt we'll hear any discussion about whether the church or religion could possibly have influenced his mind in any way. I don't think it did, but I also don't think that other stuff does either. I don't think video games, music or church really had an effect on him either -- I was just hoping for some moral continuity from the talking heads that do spew that kind of stuff.

When Columbine, Jonesboro and all the other school shootings occurred we were inundated with "Well it was obviously Marilyn Manson songs and violent video games like Doom and Wolfenstein that made them commit these crimes." BTK was a major player in his local church leadership structure. Where are the people "Well, the church obviously influenced him to commit these crimes!" and trying to shut down the church like they've been trying to censor music and video games.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) I think he is implying that her level of grief may be faked to further her own agenda, not that Casey never died. Yeah, how dare she be sad after her only child got killed! Rush is such a f***ing ignorant tit.
