Hey Juggs, if the majority of people at Soxtalk didn't want you around -- would you keep posting? I mean, if you're all for majority rule then you should really be game for a simple poll. So, let's take your assertion to its logical extension -- the World Church of the Creator. It is a church after all. Would you say that it is ridiculous that they hire Jews, blacks, gays, etc. if they were promoting Head Start at their building?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) And as long as the faith-based don't make use of public schools I'm sure you won't mind if we don't tax them for it. After all wouldn't it be discriminatory to tax those who don't want to support public schools in the first place? :rolly Juggs. Many of my friends are Christians. And I don't really like the assertion you're making (pot.kettle.black re: you b****ing about the whining Dems all the time) I wasn't targeting all Christians. I was just talking those that are too ignorant to realize there is no Constitutional protection for using religion as a means to discriminate in jobs where federal funds are funding the program. Head Start is an extra-assistance program to poor areas. Most are held in community buildings but sometimes they are held in houses of worship. Since federal funds fund this program, the buildings must follow the anti-discrimination laws set forth by the US government. They must, if they accept federal funds, not use religion/race/sex/disability etc. as reason to hire or fire a worker. You had an excellent straw man regarding private schools, Christians et. al. All I spoke about was the asinine nature of the rollback of civil rights in Head Start. But nice try, Juggs.

This is my new column that will be running in the Herald News on Friday Oct. 21. I figure I'd give the good old Soxtalk faithful a sneak peek and a chance to read it first. http://lennybrucefan.tripod.com/id47.html

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 07:43 AM) I think it was Gingrich that was sleeping during the whole "Contract With America" thing. With somebody other than his wife, of course, but stuff happens. I've never taken the time to properly thank Newt for his philandering ways. Talk about paying for an indiscretion. Not only did revelation of the Newt infidelity help usher the Emperor of GOPAC out of the considerable power he had consolidated and seriously compromise GOP leadership, it also was a very real (if largely unspoken) reason why the Clinton bj impeachment vote failed. And who can forget the Flynt Report during the "BJ-Gate"? -
Poor Nick Punto. What'd he do to deserve getting hit in the face? The Twins are beginning to collapse again methinks.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Stop being so dumb.... He does that type of s*** after every HR. If AJ ran over every guy he saw that was on the ground you might have a point. And don't forget, AJ (even if it was intentional) can back up his attitude on both sides of the ball unlike Mr. "Holy s***, the 28972348723479'th fly ball of the season has flown over my head! http://movies.crooksandliars.com/Countdown...obson-Miers.wmv Pat Buchanan threw James Dobson under the bus yesterday while discussing his outrage over the Harriet Miers nomination on Countdown: BUCHANAN: Listen, I would be surprised if the Judiciary Committee does not subpoena Dr. Dobson and ask him, what were you told by Karl Rove and were you given indications that Ms. Harriet Miers would overturn Roe v. Wade? I find it scary that I'm agreeing more and more with Pat Buchanan (outside of the homophobia, anti-Semitism and most economic policy)

Giambi - Comeback player of the year..
LowerCaseRepublican replied to Steff's topic in The Diamond Club
Giambi came back from being one big cheating juicer that gave birth to a pituitary tumor. Sorry, that's not coming back from anything except him getting caught breaking the rules of baseball. Like the MVP he got, here's another award he doesn't deserve. -

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) I tried listening to the show Apu - but I couldn't handle more than five minutes. That host dude is god awful. They ought to rename the show from Extreme Wisdom to Extreme Uhh. LOL -- He said he'd get me a copy of it in the next couple days. Yeah, I felt pretty confident with the way that I carried myself & I feel that I made some good points especially showing that it wasn't so black and white. My favorite part had to be the guy who said that feeding kids lunch and heating the school weren't ingredients to a quality education (what a buffoon caller)

Kanye West wrong. Bush doesn't hate black people.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) I heard it live when he said it. Context is everything people, the fact that people actually believe that he hates black people simply based on this quote is complete bulls***. He was talking to a guest, when he made this statement he was making a point, not insulting black people. As Rex Kickass said -- he wasn't saying Bennett was a racist...just a f***ing buffoon. -
Just a further update. I'll be live & in the studio tomorrow morning. I can't believe that me of all people is going to get a live mic to discuss my views on education. 8 am CST -- 560 am WIND. For those not in IL, you can listen on www.560wind.com Feel free to hear the voice behind the tag name & if you're game, give the show a call and voice your opinion. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,170940,00.html The FBI would not say how often these mistakes happen. And, though any incriminating evidence mistakenly collected is not legally admissible in a criminal case, there is no way of knowing whether it is used to begin an investigation. Parts of the Patriot Act, including a section on "roving wiretaps," expire in December. Such wiretaps allow the FBI to get permission from a secret federal court to listen in on any phone line or monitor any Internet account that a terrorism suspect may be using, whether or not others who are not suspects also regularly use it. The bureau's acknowledgment that it makes mistakes in some wiretaps — although not specifically roving wiretaps — came in a recent Justice Department inspector general's report on the FBI's backlog of intercepted but unreviewed foreign-language conversations. The 38,514 untranslated hours included an undetermined number from what the FBI called "collections of materials from the wrong sources due to technical problems."

RTFA. CORRECTION ON 09/30/05 -- A story in Thursday's paper incorrectly said that Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., had not contributed money to the Second Baptist Church in Las Vegas since 1997. Reid gave the church $100 in December 1999, $500 in November 2002, $200 in September 2002 and $500 in February of this year from his campaign and political funds, as allowed by Senate rules. The story also mischaracterized the actions of a Reid staff member who discussed a federal grant that was tied to an indictment of church officials this week. Spokeswoman Tessa Hafen gave information about the grants in response to questions. -

Due to my latest column, 560 am WIND radio (yes, the "Liberals hate us" station) will be having me on in "Extreme Wisdom with Bruno Behrend" to discuss education, educational policy and funding in Illinois from 8-9 am (or possibly the whole show depending on how it goes) So, if you want to hear the voice behind the posts, be sure to tune in at 8 am CST (you can listen online at www.560wind.com as well) I just felt the need to share & boost his listeners a little bit for the day, haha.

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 07:15 AM) Nice.. don't name them. Let the risk linger of them getting another job around children and continuing their sick actions. :headshake Must be the poor education they got as children... :rolly LOL Well the entire thing has been to keep them away from civil authorities... From a column on my site: According to documents unearthed in 2003 legal actions, journalist Russ Kick found that the earliest document discussing priest rape was distributed in 1962. He states that the document "Instruction on the Manner of Proceeding in Cases of Solicitation" was sent to every high ranking cleric. The document said that anybody who allegedly raped a member of the parish would face a private Church court, secular officials would not be told and the paperwork would end up in the diocese's "secret archives". The document even states that, under punishment of excommunication, all clergy will keep the rape suppression secret "even for the most urgent and most serious cause for the purpose of a greater good." The document was personally approved by Pope John 23. When Father James Porter pled guilty for molesting 28 children in the 1960s and 1970s, the document record shows that the church fully knew of his crimes -- and shuffled him to new parishes where he could prey on unsuspecting children. In 1973, Porter wrote Pope Paul 6 confessing his penetration of children and demanding to be let out of the priesthood. The Church yet continued to hide him from legitimate authorities. In a document dated May 29, 1999 -- John Paul II calls for the removal of a priest accused of molesting a child. In the document he discusses how the priest should be moved to an area where his crimes are not known. He goes on to say that the priest could not be removed if allowing him to stay there would "cause no scandal".

From my hometown paper -- http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/heraldn..._LETTERS_S1.htm I attended the rally in Batavia with Cindy Sheehan. I went to speak about governmental accountability and funding for our soldiers who are currently serving and for veterans who served in the past. I was not there to support the "bring 'em home now" crowd. The rude, hateful, and ignorant behavior displayed by the Bush and Hastert supporters towards us in uniform who stood on the same side of the street as Cindy Sheehan was astonishing. During 20 years in the U.S. Army I participated in many funeral services. While rendering honors to fallen comrades, it was difficult to hold back tears. Those serving are like my family and it saddens me whenever a member of my family is killed or wounded. As Americans, we need to recognize the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers and weep for the losses of their families. Their losses are our losses. At the rally, people carrying Bush and Hastert signs were incredibly disrespectful to parents who had lost children. These Bush and Hastert supporters actually booed and hissed parents while they told their stories of personal loss. People shouted "your kid's dead — you can't bring them back now" and "go home and cry." It was a disgrace. Their children served all Americans, including those who shamelessly displayed such disrespect. I will not accept the ridicule that was tossed my way for supporting a fallen comrade and his family. Those acting in such a despicable way should be ashamed. The soldiers died and paid the ultimate price to our country without regard for personal politics. If this is the way Republicans want to portray themselves, it's no wonder the president's approval rating is at an all-time low and Hastert's approval rating is at 28 percent. Americans are, after all, a compassionate people. Tom Brophy Sergeant Major U.S. Army, Retired Oswego

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) A society void of a strong sense of morality will veer inevitably to corruption as the norm. Change can only begin in our morally decrept school system. Or with the parents and the mantra of personal responsibility actually meaning something. But keep blaming it on the schools and washing your hands of any blame there, Juggs. And as W&O said "Just. Shut up. Seriously."
