I was gonna say what a waste driving all the way to WIU for the game. I wonder who sponsors the Prep Bowl. There were literally 100 fans at the game max, probably less. It is still amazing to me that Indiana and Iowa play their HS playoffs indoors and the state of Illinois plays at ISU and/or NIU. Neither facility is much of anything. I do not mean this as a slight to Iowa or Indiana but shows how ass backward the state of Illinois is. The IHSA (athletic body of the high school sports) is the epitome of Illinois bloat, waste and incompetence.

Yeah, I don't know about anyone else, but Indianas state finals are at pro facilities when available. It does help to have the most populous city directly in the middle of the state. Basketball is played in the Pacers arena. Football is at the Colts. Baseball is at a AAA facility. Track and Field is at the facilities they built for the Pan Am games. Same with swimming. I was thinking how all of this weather mess could have been avoided had they played these games in a dome, but then I couldn’t think of a domed football stadium in the Chicagoland area. I can only think of the Bridgeview Sports Dome which is still set up for soccer, not football. Both offensive line and defensive line are so good. The boys and the coaches were truly dominant and now will go down in history as one of the top 2 teams in school history, arguably the finest team. In this day and age they had what, one close game all year? Glad Rita advanced instead of one of the Lincoln Ways. You can't win without a great running game and our linemen made it possible along with some skilled backs including that outstanding QB. Coach Q obviously is a genius coming from Cali and recruiting a great team and coaching them up. Badke should take a bow for starting this return to dominance (along with Marist of course) of the far south side. Mt. Carmel can't be touched; glad they weren't in 7A. Hold a parade for the guys, South Side officials. Down Pulaski. Let St. Rita take part in some way. They closed well this year and deserve praise. Tell your son we former Rice students are proud of the linemen. Their work has not gone unnoticed. Fantastic title. I'm ecstatic because of the work of the boys and Q.

Most of the BR security guards at the school are retired local cops so they have an inside hookup.

Milkman delivers
As a Rita alum, I can’t say I have followed them since I graduated over 20 years ago (😬), but I was definitely gonna come to this thread and rub it in if they pulled off the upset 😆 Congrats to @WhiteSox2023 and @greg775. I know this meant a lot to you guys. Thank you! I only started following BR once my older son first started talking to Coach Q (right after he was initially hired) as an 8th grader playing for the Downers Grove Panthers in the Bill George Youth Football League (BGYFL) and then decided to go to BR. Quedenfeld would bring his two toddler kids to almost every DG Panthers game on the weekends to try to recruit the team’s players like Owen Lansu and others. Most of them ended up going to Downers Grove North, but he hooked my son. Since then, my younger son transferred from Downers Grove South to BR this year for his sophomore year and he is way happier there. Coach Q truly did recruit/build this team starting from when most of these kids were freshmen. It took him four years to build a champ. Pretty cool. In his post-game interview, he mentioned building this team from the start of his first year and also stressed that he couldn’t believe any parent would not want to send their kids to a Catholic school like BR. He was really selling it for the administration, almost as if he was told to mention it. 🤣 The cool thing is that I actually went to Fenwick so I got the best of both worlds this year. But I am obviously way prouder about the BR title for my son and his teammates. Edited 8 hours ago by WhiteSox2023

Got cut from basketball even tho our Q of M team won the city league title and got cut from baseball as there were so many kids they worked tryouts over several days by position, LOL. I like to follow high school sports in my old stomping grounds from afar and was hoping Rice could win a title or two. I know the Catholic schools recruit it's always been that way. We finally recruited the best kids in the area I guess, lol.

It’s nice that BR came through in football since the basketball team unfortunately lost to DePaul Prep in their most recent state championship game.
