The school has some talented athletes and Stamos like Q was a great coach. More good news for BR, @greg775. You’re looking at the future BR QB — Sam Holcomb, class of 2030. His dad was JJ McCarthy’s former private QB coach. He currently plays for the Downers Grove Panthers and already received an offer from Michigan last year. Coach Q lives in Hinsdale so it’s a short drive to recruit some DG Panthers. He didn’t nab Owen Lansu but he got this kid. After this title I will just enjoy the games. We are vindicated by this team as a modern powerhouse. Rice got the title; any more is gravy. They should be better next year and if the players they have in the pipeline stay the future for them is bright. The portal in high school is real. St. Laurence seems like they are on the fringes as well. They seem to have improved but are not quite good enough to make a deep run. I wonder who will dominate basketball this year. I read Rice lost all five starters but have one stud at least. I would rank the far south side football programs now: 1.) BR. 2.) Marist. 3.) Rita. 4.) Laurence. Marist and Rice still seem fairly equal in the big scheme, unless coach Q really is dominating recruiting and turning Rice into perennial contender mabe. BR has spanked Laurence in each of the past two seasons. Marist and Rita are definitely quite a few rungs up the ladder above Laurence and have much more competitive games with BR.

WhiteSox2023
BR gets their state championship rings next month. A BR alumnus agreed to donate the entire cost of all the rings for the team and coaching staff. I guess the cost of each ring is $235. I'm sure they want to give rings to the freshmen, sophs, varsity players and coaches and also the longtime PA guy and others. They shoulda just done a gofundme. I think most Rice grads would give at least 500 to 1000. What a nice guy to do that for the kids/coaches.

Crazy how fast the time goes from having kids to them growing into adults. I was working too hard in the beginning and didn’t enjoy it enough. He gets his state champ ring in a month, so I am excited about that. Crazy to watch your kid grow from Pop Warner football, to HS football, to college football. The worst thing about it is watching the injuries. That ruined football for me. Torn ACL and meniscus last year. Then he comes back in way less estimated time and wins a state championship. Crazy. I asked BR if I could purchase another State Championship Ring for my own display. No love. 😢 But regardless of my son’s own priorities and injuries, he has worked for BR camps over his summer vacations with young autistic and challenged kids. There aren’t many in the BR community that don’t know AJ. He makes friends with everyone. I am so excited to see what this balls-out mofo kid of mine can do next… He still can’t beat me in arm wrestling, which I let him know every so often even though he is way stronger than me in general. 😢 Darien Swarm, baby! Later was Downers Grove Panthers! Edited Saturday at 07:45 AM by WhiteSox2023
